  • For the mean vector of a p-variate normal distribution ($p{\geq}4$), the optimal estimation within the class of modified James-Stein type decision rules under the quadratic loss is given when the underlying distribution is that of a variance mixture of normals and when the norm ${\parallel}{\theta}-\bar{\theta}1{\parallel}$ it known.

  • The optimal operation in distribution system is to select tie switches considering important elements(Load balance, Loss minimization, Voltage drop, Restoration index..) in distribution system. Optimal Tie Switches Selection is very important in operation of distribution system because that is closely related with efficiency and reliability. In this paper, a new algorithm considering important elements is proposed to find optimal location of tie switches. In the case study, the proposed algorithm has been testified using real distribution network of KEPCO for verifying algorithm and complex network for applying future distribution network.

  • Bayes estimates of reliability for the stress-strength system are obtained with respect to LINEX loss function. A reference prior distribution of the reliability is derived and Bayes estimates of the reliability are also obtained. These Bayes estimates are compared with corresponding estimates under squared-error loss function.

  • In decision theoretic estimation, the loss function usually emphasizes precision of estimation. However, one may have interest in goodness of fit of the overall model as well as precision of estimation. From this viewpoint, Zellner(1994) proposed the balanced loss function which takes account of both "goodness of fit" and "precision of estimation". This paper considers estimation of the parameter of a Bernoulli distribution using Zellner's(1994) balanced loss function. It is shown that the sample mean $\overline{X}$, is admissible. More general results, concerning the admissibility of estimators of the form $a\overline{X}+b$ are also presented. Finally, minimax estimators and some numerical results are given at the end of paper,at the end of paper.

  • The objective of this study is to determine the influence of free-stream turbulent intensity on the three-dimensional turbulent flow in a linear turbine cascade. The range of free-stream turbulence intensity considered is 0.7~10%. This study was performed numerically. The results show that the mass averaged loss coefficient increased according to the increase of free-stream turbulence intensity due to increased value of the mass averaged total pressure loss coefficient which was higher than the decreased value of the mass averaged secondary flow loss coefficient. The loss coefficient distribution was changed suddenly at a free-stream turbulence intensity of 10% while the loss coefficient distribution was rarely changed at a lower free-stream turbulence intensity of 5%.

  • Recently, some research has been done to analyze the asymptotic behavior of queue length distribution in ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) multiplexer. In this paper, we relate this asymptotic behavior with the asymptotic behavior of decreasing cell loss probability when the buffer capacity is increased. We find with reasonable assumptions that the asymptotic rate of queue length distribution is the same as that of decreasing cell loss probability. Even under different priority control schemes and traffic classes, we find that this asymptotic rate of the individual cell loss probability of each traffic class does not change. As a consequence, we propose the upper bound of cell loss probability of each traffic class when a priority control scheme is employed. This bound is computationally feasible in a real-time. The numerical examples will be provided to validate this finding.

  • Through the model presented in this paper, we study on the depletion of stock taking place due to random loss of items as well as random demand, under the assumption that the distributions of demand are independent of those of loss, and both of them are identical, and that life time distribution of each item is negative exponential. The steady state probability distribution of the stock level assuming instantaneous delivery of order under (s, S) inventory policy. Also we have derived total expected cost expression with loss cost. The results of sensitive analysis show that the effect of loss rate is substantial on the total cost and optimal value of inventory level.

  • This paper proposes a new method to handle transmission line losses using loss distribution factors (LDF) rather than marginal loss factors (MLF) in electricity market operation. Under a competitive electricity market, the bidding data are adjusted to reflect transmission line losses. To date the most proposed approach is using MLFs. The MLFs are reflected to bidding prices and market clearing price during the trading and settlement of the electricity market. In the proposed algorithm, the LDFs are reflected to bidding quantities and actual generations/ loads. Computer simulations on a 9-bus sample system will verify the effectiveness of the algorithm proposed. Moreover, the proposed approach using LDFs does not make any payments residual while the approach using MLFs induces payments residual.

  • In general, AC transport current loss of vertically stacked HTS tapes is larger than simple multiplication of single tape by stacked number. In this study we investigated the transport current and current distribution in face-to-face stacked conductor Numerical method has been developed for loss estimation and compared to the experimental works. Two results showed goof agreement each other The stacked conductor behaved like a single watching current distribution, From this point of view it is possible to suggest the other analogy to predict the transport current loss. All results were presented and checked the validities of the loss estimation.
