A 10b 100MS/s 0.13um CMOS D/A Converter Based on A Segmented Local Matching Technique (세그먼트 부분 정합 기법 기반의 10비트 100MS/s 0.13um CMOS D/A 변환기 설계)

  • This work proposes a 10b 100MS/s DAC based on a segmented local matching technique primarily for small chip area. The proposed DAC employing a segmented current-steering structure shows the required high linearity even with the small number of devices and demonstrates a fast settling behavior at resistive loads. The proposed segmented local matching technique reduces the number of current cells to be matched and the size of MOS transistors while a double-cascode topology of current cells achieves a high output impedance even with minimum sized devices. The prototype DAC implemented in a 0.13um CMOS technology occupies a die area of $0.13mm^2$ and drives a $50{\Omega}$ load resistor with a full-scale single output voltage of $1.0V_{p-p}$ at a 3.3V power supply. The measured DNL and INL are within 0.73LSB and 0.76LSB, respectively. The maximum measured SFDR is 58.6dB at a 100MS/s conversion rate.

K-band MMIC Oscillator Design Using the PHEMT (PHEMT소자를 이용한 K-band MMIC 발진 설계)

  • An MMIC oscillator operating at the 24.55 GHz has been designed using 0.2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$AlGaAs/InGaAs/GaAs Pseudomorphic HEMT technology. The active device used in the oscillator design has a 0.2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ gate length PHEMT with 4$\times$80 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ gate width. We obtained 4.08 dB of S$_{21}$ gain and 317 mS/mm of transconductance, and extrapolated unit current gain cut-off frequency (f$_{T}$) and maximum oscillation frequency (fmax) were 62 GHz and 120 GHz, respectively. The circuit are based on a series feedback and negative resistance topology. Microstrip line open stub is used to terminating. The oscillator circuits has designed for delivering maximum power to load and conjugated matching. The simulated small signal negative resistance was 50 Ω. We obtained 1.002 of loop gain and 0.0005$^{\circ}$angle from the simulation by HP libra 6.1. The layout for oscillator is 1.2$\times$1.8 $\textrm{mm}^2$.>.

  • A realization method of the microwave oscillator is proposed by the inherently stable transistor with a cavily resonator feedback loop. The real Part of the output impedance of the inherently stable bipolar transistor can be made to be negative at the resonance frequency by the high-Q cavity feedback loop, and the oscillation condition can be obtained with the matching section of the load. In this work the microwave transistor oscillator is realized with a silicon bipolar transistor HXTR 2101 and a reentrani cavity, and characteristic of the output power 10m Watts at 2.33 GHz osc. frequency can be verified experimentally.

  • Depending on the energy storage-element they are categorized into two types. One is called voltage-fed type when capacitors are used as energy storage elements. The other goes by the name of current-fed which s utilizes inductors as energy storage elements. This paper deals with the basic concept of pulse-power generation in the view points of load matching for the voltage-fed type.

  • A hydraulic system is difficult to keep the performance due to non-linearity, load pressure which changes according to working condition and system parameter variation, the requirement of control algorithm has been risen in order to satisfy them. An adaptive control is a control method which is suggested to achieve a control object though plant characteristics change. In spite of the case that plant characteristics and the degree of variation are difficult to grasp, adaptive control can keep the characteristics of closed-loop system regularly. In this study GMVAC(generalized minimum variance adaptive control) combined with output error feedback is proposed in order to solve problems of non-minimum phase, vibration and overshoot in initial response of the plant. The control performance according to the variation of characteristics of the plant is evaluated by changing the supply pressure only.

  • This paper describes an induction heating system which is full-bridge parallels resonant inverter. This system consists of current-fed type inverter, and a parallels resonant circuit with a matching transformer. A parallels resonant scheme is employed, and operating range of the proposed circuit with operating frequency and load parameter is demonstrated from the result of steady state. Also, this equipments testing result introduces, good efficiency and reliability of the system. Finally, this paper experimental results are given.

  • Explicit state-space formulate for an H$_{.inf}$ based two-degrees-of-freedom robust controller are derived in discrete-time. The controller provides robust stability against coprime factor uncertainty, and a degree of robust performance in the sense of making the closed-loop system match a prespecified reference model. It is shown that the controller consists of a plant observer, the chosen reference model, and a generalized state feedback law associated with the plant and model states. The controller structure is shown to be relatively simple and thus may reduce the computational load on the digital control processor.

  • A newly advanced method of characterizing large signal S-parameters of TR using the overall gain of normally operating TR is proposed based on the load pull method which gives the matching network only. Large signal S-parameters of TR are characterized from the circuit which consists of TR and 3dB Coupler Tuners at the input and output ports, and which is B class biased with 0dBminput signal. Amplifier can be designed to have 8.5dB gain at 770MHz using the calculated large signal S-parameters with the resulting gain of 8.786dB.

  • We present the derivation of the loci of the reflection coefficient of a loaded transmission line on the Smith chart as the length of the transmission line is varied. The results show that the loci constitute a circle when the characteristic impedance of the transmission line differs from the normalizing one, whose center and radius are determined by the impedances of the load and the transmission line. The results can be used in the matching circuit design using microstriplines when line width and length should be compromised.
