  • This paper presents the state feedback control design for discrete time nonlinear systems where there exists a time delay in input. It is shown that under some boundedness condition, the time delay nonlinear systems can be transformed into the time delay linear systems with time varying parameters. Sufficient conditions for existence of stabilizing state feedback controller are characterized by linear matrix inequalities. Finally, an illustrative example is given in order to show the effectiveness of our design method.

  • This paper presents an algebraic approach for finding a dynamic state feedback controller when the linear multi-input system with delays in both state and input is controllable. In the time-delay case, controllability of the system does not always imply that system is cyclizable. Therefore, reduced order augmentation systems which is cyclizable as the time-varying case are considered. It is possible to construct feedback contorl systems by using single-input methods.

  • This paper presents the development of linear quadratic regulation and output tracking algorithms using output feedback when both the measurement and performance output equations contain direct feedthrough terms. Although all physical systems can be modeled without direct feedthrough, there are still many situations where system models with direct feedthrough are important. For this situation, we modify previous work on the same topic for systems without direct feedthrough. It is shown that for the regulation problem, the optimal output feedback gain for a direct feedthrough case can be directly obtained, via a transformation, from the approach used for systems without direct feedthrough. However, for the tracking problem, a new set of coupled matrix equations for determining the optimal output feedback gain is derived from the necessary conditions for minimizing the cost function. The effectiveness of the developed algorithms is demonstrated using numerical examples.

  • This paper is concerned with the robust stability of linear quadratic state feedback regulators for infinite dimensional systems in the presence of system uncertainties Several robustness results ensuring the asymptoitc stability and exponential stability of the perturbed closed loop system are derived for a class of nonlinear perturbations of the system and input operators satisfying the matching condition. For the case where the input space is finite dimensional, some robust properties of the state feedback regulator designed on the basis of the linear quadratic regulator for finite dimensional unstable modes are also discussed seperately.

  • In this paper, we present an output feedback $H^\infty$controller design method and derive the sufficient condition of the bounded real lemma for linear systems with multiple delays in states. For state delayed systems, sufficient conditions for the existence $\kappa$-th order $H^\infty$controllers are given in terms of three linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Furthermore, we show how to construct such controllers from the positive definite solutions of their LMIs and given an example to illustrate the validitiy of the proosed design procedure.

  • This paper deals with an output feedback H control problem for linear time ivariant systems with state delay. The proposed output feedback controller is represented by the lower linear fractional transformation of alinear time invariant system and a delay operator. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the output feedback controller are given in the form of linear matrix inequalities which are less conservative than those for the existence of a rational output feedback controler. We also present a numerical example to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.of the proposed method.

  • For feedback control of a linear dynamic system the optimum linear slace regulator (OLSR) can be implemented only if all state are available for feedback. This work demonstrates that when only the output state is available for feedback, a nonlinear controllers can be improved performance over that obtained by a proportional controller. This paper found the optimal control law by well-known dynamic programming and principles of optimality. Thus, performance of both proportional and nonlinear controllers is compared with performance of optimum linear state regulator.

  • A passivity-based dynamic output feedback controller design is considered for a finite collection of non-square linear systems. Design of a single controller for a set of plants i.e. simultaneous stabilization is an important issue in the area of robust control design. We first determine a squaring gain matrix and an additional dynamics that is connected to the systems in a feedforward way, then a static passivating control law is designed. Consequently, the actual feedback controller will be the static control law combined with the feedforward dynamics. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the parallel feedforward compensator is given by the static output feedback formulation. In contrast to the previous result [1], a technical condition for constructing the parallel feedforward compensator is removed by proposing a new type of the parallel compensator.

  • A general construction algorithm of the Grassmann space parameters in linear systems - so-called, the Plucker matrix, 'L' in m-input, p-output, n-th order static output feedback systems and the Plucker matrix, $'L^{aug}'$ in augmented (m+d)-input, (p+d)-output, (n+d)-th order static output feedback systems - is presented for numerical checking of necessary conditions of complete static and complete minimum d-th order dynamic output feedback pole-assignments, respectively, and also for discernment of deterministic computation condition of their pole-assignable real solutions. Through the construction of L, it is shown that certain generically pole-assignable strictly proper mp > n system is actually none pole-assignable over any (real and complex) output feedbacks, by intrinsic rank deficiency of some submatrix of L. And it is also concretely illustrated that this none pole-assignable mp > n system by static output feedback can be arbitrary pole-assignable system via minimum d-th order dynamic output feedback, which is constructed by deterministic computation under fullrank of some submatrix of $L^{aug}$.

  • For linear descriptor systems, we consider the $H_{INFTY}$ controller design problem via output feedback. Both static output feedback and dynamic one are discussed. First, in the case of static output feedback, we reduce our control problem to solving a bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) with respect to the controller coefficient matrix, a Lyapunov matrix and a matrix related to the descriptor matrix. Under a matching condition between the descriptor matrix and the measured output matrix (or the control input matrix), we propose setting the Lyapunov matrix in the BMI as being block diagonal appropriately so that the BMI is reduced to LMIs. For fixed-order dynamic $H_{INFTY}$ output feedback, we formulate the control problem equivalently as the one of static output feedback design, and thus the same approach can be applied.
