  • In this study, extinction limit extension of unsteady $(CH_{4}+N_{2})$/air diffusion flames was investigated experimentally. A spatially locked flame in an opposing jet burner was perturbed by linear velocity variation, and time-dependent flame luminosity, transient maximum flame temperature and OH radical were measured over time with the high speed camera, Rayleigh scattering method and OH laser-induced fluorescence, respectively. Unsteady flames survive at strain rates that are much higher than the extinction limit of steady flames, and unsteady extinction limits extend as the slope of the strain rate increases or the initial strain rate decreases. We verified the validity of the equivalent strain rate concept by comparing the course of unsteady extinction process and steady extinction process, and it was found that the equivalent strain rate concept represents well the unsteady effect of a convective-diffusive zone. To investigate the reason of the unsteady extinction limit extension, we subtracted the time lag of the convective-diffusive zone by using the equivalent strain concept. Then the modified unsteady extinction limits become smaller than the original unsteady extinction limits, however, the modified unsteady extinction limits are still larger than the steady extinction limits. These results suggest that there exist the unsteady behavior of a diffusive-reactive zone near the extinction limit due to the chemical non-equilibrium states associated with unsteady flames.

  • In this paper, we suggested the tolerance limits of FAR(Fully Anechoic Room) using correlation factor between OATS(Open area Test Site) to measure EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) and FAR to measure EMS(Electromagnetic Susceptibility). FAR Project(SMT4-CT96-2133), CISPR/A/665/DTR, and CISPR A/665/DTR documents are analyzed and theoretical correlation factor based on the documents and theoretical equations is drawn. To obtain the experimental correlation factor, EUT(Equipment Under Test) is fabricated as well as measured at the 10 m distance OATS and in the 3 m distance FAR. Also, to suggest the tolerance limits of EUT with multi sources, radiation theory for electric and magnetic dipoles is programmed. We drew the correlation factor for EUT with multi sources through the programs. As the tolerance limits of FAR is newly defined, It can be used alternative test site for OATS to measure EMI, efficiently.

  • Because the harmonic disturbance characteristic which makes voltage drop and the deterioration of instantaneous power quality in electrical power system overheats the NGR and the customer capacitor and malfunctions the OCGR and AMR, it is necessary for electric power company to take active measures to reduce this disturbance. International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) 61000-3-2 specifies limits for harmonic current emissions generated by low voltage(LV) electrical equipment whose input current $\leq$ 16(A) per phase. Analysis shows that limits for Class A equipment in IEC are calculated using the reference impedance of LV system and maximum permissible voltage and limits for other Classes are also calculated based on limits for Class A. Therefore we have calculated four(4) internal limits for LV electrical equipment using the korea reference impedance and maximum permissible voltage in this paper.

  • Detonation limit is one of the major physical properties used to determine the fire and explosion hazards of the flammable substances. In this study, the lower detonation limits (LDL) and the upper detonation limits (UDL) of the flammable substances predicted with the appropriate use of the heat of combustion and the stoichiometric coefficient. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with literature data within a few percent. From a given results, It is to be hoped that this methodology will contribute to the estimation of the detonation limits of for other flammable substances.

  • In this paper we evaluate the analogue of Wiener integral ${\int\limits}_{C[0,t]}x(t_1){\cdots}x(t_n)d\omega_\rho(x)$ where 0 = $t_0$ < $t_1$ $\cdots$ < $t_n$ $\leq$ t and the Paley-Wiener-Zygmund integral ${\int\limits}_{C[0,t]}$ exp $({\int\limits}_0^t h(s)\tilde{d}x(s))d\omega_\rho(x)$ is the analogue of Wiener measure space.

  • A mathematical framework for deriving acceleration bounds from given joint torque limits of two cooperating robots are described in this paper. Especially when the torque limits are given in 2-norm, the resultant geometrical configuration is ellipsoid(the ellipsoid is often called manipulability ellipsoid in many works). At first, the mathematical derivation starts from the dynamics of both object and robots as well as the kinematics of the robots, and is finally arranged in a form of equation relating joint torques to object acceleration through a complete constraint contact(or “very-soft contact”). To show the usefulness of the proposed method, two examples are included, and especially the case where friction effects the ellipsoid shape is also considered In the example.

  • The stability of diffusion flame formed behind a bluff body with fuel injection slits was experimentally investigated in various fuel injection angles, fuel injection ratios, grids and extension ducts. The flame stability limits, temperature distributions and length of recirculation zones, direct photographs of flames were measured in order to discuss the stabilization mechanism of the diffusion flame. The results from this study are as follows. The fuel injection angle is an important factor in determining the flame stability. Stability limits can be improved by variety of the fuel injection ratio. When the grid and extension duct are set, stability characteristics are varied with the blockage ratios, grid intervals, and grid numbers. The recirculation zone not only serves as a steady ignition source of combustion stream but also governs the stabilization mechanism.

  • Let {$X,\;X_n;n{\geq}1$} be a sequence of i.i.d. random variables. Set $S_n=X_1+X_2+{\cdots}+X_n,\;M_n=\max_{k{\leq}n}|S_k|,\;n{\geq}1$. • In this paper, the preliminary EMC analysis process between the Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) and Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) launch vehicles in the frequency range [1MHz-47MHz] is described. The considered launch vehicles are arian V, sea Launch, land Launch, atlas III&V, delta IV, proton M/breeze M, soyuz, HII-A and Angara. The launch vehicle Radiated Emission (RE) specifications have been compared to COMS satellite Radiated Susceptibility (RS) limits. The COMS RS limits are the RS qualification levels of COMS units during launch. As a result, The radiated emission levels of arian V, sea launch, atlas III&V, delta IV, proton M/breeze M, HII-A and angara are compliant with COMS RS limits. The negative margins appear between land launch or soyuz launch vehicle RE and COMS RS. Then, if the land launch or soyuz is chosen by the customer, The tests should be performed at satellite level in order to demonstrate the compatibility with respect to launch vehicles specifications.

  • The objective of this paper is to present relevant information and for proposing legal standards on pesticide residues around golf courses. Among 67 pesticide ingredients used for the courses in Korea, 30 items necessary for standard setting were selected and theoretical residue limits were computed. Pesticide residue limits applicable to golf courses in Korea were for 16 pesticides in run-off water on the health and ecotoxicological bases and in soil on the health basis, as selected by practical use pattern. It is recommended to accumulate scientific data by continuous research efforts in order to justify the pesticide residue limits in run-off water and soils of golf courses.
