Democracy and its Impact on Economic Development in Sub-Saharan Africa (아프리카 사하라 이남의 민주정치와 경제발전의 관계 연구)

  • This study aimed to clarify the relationship which exists between democracy and economic development within Sub-Saharan Africa. It strived to bring out a comprehensive analysis of the reasons why the pace of democratization is slow within this region and why until present date, there are just patches of real democracies there. The work also focuses on the reasons why despite democratic movements, economic growth rates have remained lagging behind average until of recent that, and some few countries have emerged to join the list of fastest growing economies in the world. The study further highlights the unique path of Sub-Saharan Africa democratization process should follow since it does not possess the various factors that favored the democratization processes of most developed countries. In order to obtain the objectives, previous studies and statistical data published by official institutes were analysed by using contents analysis methods. Lastly, it proceeds to explain the important role that democracy plays in inclusive economic growth.

The roles of growth mindset and grit in relation to hope and self-directed learning (희망과 자기주도학습과의 관계에서 성장 마인드셋과 그릿의 역할)

  • Recently, according to the arrival of the knowledge-based society, the self-directed learning is necessary for the workers. Especially, the person with strong hopes showed strong self-directed learning, and the psychological characteristics and beliefs such as growth mindset and Grit would play a mediating role. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of growth mindset and grit in relation to hope and self-directed learning. The subjects of this study were selected from than 32 workplace in cities of Seoul, Daejeon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, and consisted of 368 workers selected by purposive sampling. And data analysis was performed by frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. The major results were as follow. First, there were positively significant correlations among hope, growth mindset, grit, self-directed learning. Second, as a result of SEM, hope showed direct impact on self-directed learning. Third, hope had indirect effect through growth mindset and grit. Lastly, the limitations of this study and policy implications to increase self-directed learning of workers through hope, growth mindset and grit.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) have mostly been used for military purposes but with the progress in ICT and reduced manufacturing costs, they are increasingly used for various private services. UAVs are expected to carry out autonomous flying in the future. In order to carry out complex tasks, swarm flights are essential. Although the swarm flights has been researched a lot due to its different network and infrastructure from the existing UAV system, There are still not enough study on security threats and requirements for the secure swarm flights. In this paper, to solve these problems, UAV autonomous flight technology is defined based on US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and swarm flights and security threat about it are classified. And then we defined and compared security requirements according to security threats of each swarm flights so as to contribute to the development of secure UAC swarm flights in the future.

The Formative Factors and the Economic Effects of the Basic Job Skills in Korea (한국사회의 직업기초능력의 결정 요인 및 경제적 성과)

  • This article analyzes the formative factors of the basic job skills(also the ability of computer using) and the economic effects of the basic job skills in Korea. This article uses the ALL(Adult Literacy and Life Skills) 2005 data in Korea. The factors which form the basic job skills are school years, father's education. Women are under men in the ability of computer using. The older a man grow, the more basic job skills he has, but the less ability of computer using he has. The employees in office worker or new service industry have more using computer ability than them in sales worker or manufacture industry. The wage effects of the basic job skills are insignificant, and the economic effects of basic job skills appear apparently in the entry into the good jobs. As the basic job skills can play a important role to enter into the good jobs, the policy agenda should make deal with the methods and programs through which the people without basic job skills must have the opportunities to get a lifelong learning for the basic job skills.

A Study on Variables influencing Adolescents' Depression: Based on Gender Comparison (청소년의 우울과 관련 변인 연구: 성별 비교를 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to identify variables related to violence affecting adolescents' depression. For this study, 1011 adolescents were surveyed in D city of Korea. Major results were as follows. First, it was found out that adolescents' depression was significantly different depending on gender, academic achievement, family income level, school level. Second, depression, domestic violences, school violence victimizations and bullying behaviors were positively correlated. Third, As a hierarchical regression analysis, it was found that the explanatory power of domestic violence and school violence were significant for both male and female adolescents. And the explanatory power of domestic violence was higher than school violence. Lastly, based on these results, the ways to reduce adolescents' depression were discussed.

  • According to the change in media environment, a support plan for local broadcast has been required. In terms of legal and institutional support for the development of local broadcast, the enactment of special Act for local broadcast has become a breakthrough. In this point of view, we analyzed the performance and the limitation of the special Act. As a literature research, analyzing the literature and related-ordinances, we have sought legal and institutional support plans for the local broadcast. As a result, with the Local Broadcast Development Council being in charge of legislative right and responsibility, a plan to empower them to have legal and institutional authority should be drawn; another plan to secure independence in operating a fund and to promote the capability to produce local broadcast programs and the distribution system should be drawn; the other elaborate plan for the locality index that assesses the locality is required. Local broadcast should be on a way to secure not only public interest and concern but locality and diversity; legal and institutional plans should be sought.

Moderating Effect of Empathy on the Relationship between Self-esteem and Aggression of Adolescents (청소년의 자아존중감이 공격성에 미치는 영향: 공감력의 조절효과)

  • This study aimed to investigate the moderating effect of empathy between adolescents' self-esteem and aggression. For this study, 542 adolescents were surveyed in B county of Gyeongsangbukdo in Korea. Data were analysed using reliability analysis, frequency analysis, mean comparison analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis for moderation. Major results are as follows. First, it was found out that adolescents' empathy were significantly different depending on gender, school level. But adolescents' aggression did not show any differences. Second, adolescents' aggression was negatively correlated with their self-esteem and empathy. Third, As a regression analysis, it was found that the male students showed a moderating effect of empathy between self-esteem and aggression, but the female students did not showed it. Based on these findings, it was suggested that programs for lowering aggressiveness of adolescents should be developed according to their environment and gender. In addition, the research through nationwide sampling, the research on the empathy related to the female students, and the study on the elementary school students were addressed.

A Study on Convergence National Competency Standards(NCS) Development for Medical Record Specialist (의무기록사의 융복합적 직무능력표준 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This research is aimed to develop a National competency standards(NCS) as a method of job standardization, and then to be applicated as a baseline data on overall university curriculum by using the NCS. Study period is from June 21, 2014 to November 30, 2014. To accomplish the aims, a pool of researchers and experts like as industrial site experts, education training experts, and job analysis specialists was formed. Job title to be conducted in medical record is defined as medical information management and NCS was developed through deducing 12 competency unit, 43 competency unit elementary and competency unit each career during lifelong. And finally the developed standards proposal was completed to be NCS after verification by on-the-spot specialists.

An Effect Analysis of Impact of the Major Satisfaction Level And Job Experience Had Been Done During Undergraduate on the First Job in Beauty Major Undergraduate Students (뷰티계열 대학생의 재학 중 일 경험과 전공 만족도가 전공 일치 첫 일자리에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzes the impacts of undergraduate-work-experiences for beauty-major's graduates. 168 samples were selected from Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey data 2012 ~ 2017. As a result of a Multiple logistic regression analysis, a job experience, job period, and number of experienced job type mattered. In case of having non-major job experience while studying, the opportunities of finding a job of one who has no experience was higher than that of one had over a year work experience. While in case of having major job experience in the field of studying, one who has experience over 6 months and less than a year had higher chance in finding a job than that of one who had over a year work experience. I hope this promotes reviewing a systematic educational policy and helps to get a fundamental information on job-seeking behavior of beauty major graduate.

Effects of Self-esteem, Aggression and Violence Recognition on the Academic Achievement of Adolescents (청소년의 자존감, 공격성 및 폭력인식도가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to examine differences in the academic achievement depending on general characteristics of adolescents, and to verify the predictors influencing them according to school levels. For the study, 555 adolescents were surveyed at B county of Gyeongbuk province in September 2015. The results were as follows. First, it was found out that the adolescents' academic achievement was different depending on school level, family type, and economic status. Second, the predictors of the academic achievement in middle school students were self-esteem, age, number of friend, and aggression. Third, the predictors of the academic achievement in high school students were self-esteem, age, school level, and violence recognition. Based on these results, the ways to improve the academic achievement were suggested.
