Collaborative Learning Agent for Promoting Group Interaction

  • This project aims to design and develop a prototype for an agent that support online collaborative learning. Online collaborative learning, which has emerged as a new form of education in the knowledge-based society, is regarded as an effective method for improving practical and highly advanced problem-solving abilities. Collaborative learning involves complicated processes, such as organizing teams, setting common goals, performing tasks, and evaluating the outcome of team activities. Thus, a teacher may have difficulty promoting and evaluating the entire process of collaborative learning, and a system may need to be developed to support it. Therefore, to promote interaction among learners in the process of collaborative learning, this study designed an extensible collaborative learning agent (ECOLA) for an online learning environment.

A Functional Game Application for Korean Words Learning Based on Smartphone Environments

  • In this paper, the prototyping process for developing syllable-initial consonant-based game 'Korean Guards' is described. Users may effectively learn Korean words using alphabetically sequential approaches, but the easiness of access bestowed on the smart environments and game algorithms could be fully utilized for the functional advantages for educational purposes. This functional game is developed on Android OS and the prototypical outcome is shown.

Analysis of Outcome-based educational model in Engineering Education with preliminary Findings

  • The notion of outcome-based educational paradigm and its adaptability for higher education has become a recent growing and quite stirring trend. In the year 2017-18, this educational philosophy has been embraced by some of the higher educational institutions in Pakistan as well. This research attempts to investigate OBE and non-OBE systems in the context of students learning outcomes and academic attainment levels in engineering education in Pakistan. The study has been conducted on undergraduate students of MUET, Jamshoro, Sindh Pakistan. The students of the software engineering department are taken as the sample. Student cohorts are formed i.e., OBE and non-OBE (traditional/teacher-centered approach) cohorts. The summative assessments of semester exams are used for data analysis descriptive statistics and independent samples t-test is performed to set up the group statistic. The findings of this study show that, in terms of students' performance, the OBE system outperforms the traditional system and this transition in engineering institutions might be beneficial in the future.

시뮬레이션을 활용한 호흡곤란 응급관리 실습이 간호학생의 학습 성과에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Simulation-Based Practice on Emergency Care for Patients with Dyspnea on Learning Outcomes in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the learning outcomes of simulation-based practice on emergency care for patients with dyspnea in nursing students. Methods: One group pre-post experimental design with 28 nursing students was used. Simulation-based practice on the basis of SimMan Human Patient Simulator including academic lectures, simulation lab exercises and debriefing was applied for four and half hours. The learning outcomes were assessed by measuring knowledge, critical thinking, problem solving process of cognitive skills, self-confidence and learning attitudes of affective domain. Furthermore, self reported clinical performance ability of psychomotor skills was examined. Results: After the completion of simulation-based practice, there was a significant increase in the mean of following measured variables: knowledge, critical thinking, problem solving process of cognitive skills, self-confidence, learning attitudes of affective domain and clinical performance ability of psychomotor skills. Significant positive relationships were found among learning outcome measurement variables. Conclusion: Simulation-based practice is an effective method to improve cognitive skills, affective domain and psychomotor skills of nursing students. Hence, Simulation-based practice should be applied for improving current limited emergency care training for nursing students and enhancing students' competency in clinical situations.

e-러닝에서 사회연결망 지표와 인지적 및 정의적 학업 성취도 간의 상관관계 (Correlation Between Social Network Indices and Cognitive-Affective Learning Outcomes in e-Learning)

  • 본 연구는 기업 종사자를 위한 e-러닝 학습 환경에서 사회 연결망 지표들이 인지적 및 정의적 등 두 가지 유형의 학습 성과와 어떤 상관관계를 갖고 있는지를 탐색하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구 결과, 외향 중심도와 내향 중심도 등 사회 연결망 지표 두 가지 모두가 인지적 및 정의적 학습 성과와 상관이 있을 것이라는 가설은 부분적으로만 채택되었다. 즉, 인지적 학습 성과는 외향 중심도와 내향 중심도와 공히 상관을 보였으나, 정의적 학습 성과는 어떤 중심도와도 상관되어 있지 않았다. 나아가 다중회귀 분석을 실시한 결과 수업에 참여한 학습자들이 얻은 기말 점수로 측정된 인지적 학습 성과는 내향 중심도(52%), 외향 중심도(8%)에 의해 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 예언할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 온라인 학습 상황에서 개인 학습자의 사회연결망 내에서의 위상이 학습 성과에 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 선행 연구 결과와 일치하고 있다.

Design Learning Environment based on Affordance Concept for Convergent Design Education

  • I suggested the design learning environment based on affordance concept approach for supporting and improving learners' behavior and outcome for convergent design education in this study. The design learning space should be applied teaching and learning activity, especially learners' behavior, physical space condition to support the design thinking process. The design learning space needs openness, individuality and connectivity to support the learners' behavioral to immerse, participate, cooperate, understand, think and fulfill the design thinking process. The composition principles of the learning environment for convergent design education supports communication and collaboration among members for independence and interaction. The spaces for design research and teaching needs high privacy while facilitating visual communications through special materials and wall structure design. Also, for connectivity to improve the learners' physical and visual contact, the environment of the classrooms requires flexibility and mobility by providing an open space integrating unit cells for realizing learning purpose. These are provided by formed of an open structure for inducing visual communication and physical contact to involve the design activities and the mutual interchange.

간호학 프로그램 학습성과 간접측정 도구개발 (Development of Program Outcome Self-Assessment Tool in Korean Nursing Baccalaureate Education)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a self-assessment tool to evaluate program outcomes of nursing students in Korean nursing undergraduate education. Methods: The instrument development process consisted of literature review, focus group interviews, and item validation. A total of 117 items were analyzed through content validity testing. Data was gathered from 302 nursing students in Korea and analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Results: To construct validity, principal component analysis and Varimax rotation were used, and 12 factors, with a cumulative explanatory variance of 69.16%, were determined from 79 items. For internal consistency and reliability, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .91. The half-split reliability results were .84 and .85, and the ROC curve showed an optimal cutpoint at 227. A five-point Likert scale was used for scoring. Conclusion: This instrument was found to have fair validity and reliability as a self-assessment tool for nursing student learning outcomes. Therefore, it can be used to evaluate program outcomes indirectly in nursing schools.

해운·항만물류 관련 성인학습자의 평생교육 참여의도와 학습성과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Intention of Lifelong Learning Participation and Learning Outcome of Adult Learners in Shipping & Port Logistics)

  • 최근 정부는 대학이 학령인구 감소와 등록금 수입 감소로 위기에 직면할 것이라 전망하였으며, 이러한 학령인구 구조 변화와 4차 산업혁명에 대응하기 위해 대학이 평생교육 중심의 학사구조와 교육과정으로 개편하도록 지원하고 있다. 그러나 본 연구의 대상인 해운·항만물류 관련업에 종사하는 성인학습자의 경우 열악한 근무환경, 주야간 교대근무, 주말이나 야간근무 등으로 일과 학습을 병행하는데 많은 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 여수·광양항 해운·항만물류 관련업에 종사하고 있는 평생교육에 참여하고 있거나 참여한 경험이 있는 직장인을 대상으로 평생교육 참여의도와 학습성과 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 성인학습자들의 평생교육 참여 기회를 증대시키고 학습문화를 형성하기 위해서는 이들의 평생교육 참여의도와 이들이 학습성과를 어떻게 인식하고 있는지 분석할 필요가 있다. 분석결과, 학습참여 의도의 목표지향형이 학습성과의 개인적 특성에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있으며, 학습지향형이 학습성과의 사회적 특성에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 그리고 학습성과와 학습참여 의도의 학습지향형이 학습지속의향에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히, 학습한 후 얻게 되는 개인적 변화나 이익을 반영하는 학습성과가 학습지속의향에 영향을 미치고 있는 결과는 시사하는 바가 매우 크다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 분석결과를 중심으로 성인학습자들의 평생교육 참여 증대를 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.

What Does the Learning Region Mean for Economic Geography\ulcorner

  • Recently the concept of learning has become very fashionable among academics from different economic disciplines. Economic geographers and spatial planners joined this fashion by increasingly speaking about the 'learning region'. This paper makes clear that this learning region'. This paper makes clear that this learning region concept has been launched from three angles; as spatial outcome of grand societal changes, as spatial concentration of entrepreneurial learning for innovation and as regional development concept. Despite the deficits and flaws such a young concept is faced with, such as vague definitions, the lack of empirical research and an insufficiently clear separation from existing concepts, the learning region concept might provide economic geography with more insight in agglomeration effects, stronger links with policy-making and more knowledge on path dependency and thus on unravelling the distinction between 'good' and 'bad' industrial agglomerations.

학습코칭과 보상시스템의 융합적 운영이 학습공동체 참여 대학생들의 학업적 자기효능감과 학습성과에 미치는 효과 (The effect of the convergent operation of learning coaching and reward system on learning community students' academic self-efficacy and learning outcome)

  • 학습코칭과 보상시스템의 융합적 운영이 대학생들의 학업적 자기효능감과 학습성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 2학기에는 학습코칭과 학습성과에 따른 보상시스템을 마련하여 사전 공지하고 그에 따른 학업적 자기효능감을 측정하고자 학습공동체 운영 전 후 설문조사를 실시하였다. 또한 참여학생의 학습성향 진단하기 위해 G대학 재학생에게 MLST-II 학습전략진단검사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 G대학 재학생은 학습동기와 결과기대가 낮고 정체형과 잠재형 학습자가 많아 학습공동체 참여 과정에서 학습코칭에 거부감을 느끼고 부정적인 결과를 예상하였지만 2학기 학습공동체 운영 결과 학업적 자기효능감과 학습성과에 유의미한 향상을 나타내었다. 그러므로 부정적인 학습성향의 학생이라도 자율성에 맡기기 보다는 전문가의 학습코칭과 보상시스템이 학생들의 학업적 자기효능감과 학습성과에 긍정적인 결과를 야기하므로 교육 현장에서도 이러한 융합적인 프로그램 운영방식에 대한 고려가 필요할 것이다.
