An effects of Distributed leadership on Teacher efficacy and Teaching commitment in middle school teacher (중학교 교사의 분산적 리더십이 교사효능감과 교직헌신도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to present the scale of the overall influence by way of investigating how much any sub - elements of middle school teachers' distributed leadership influences any sub - elements of teacher efficacy and teaching commitment. First, there was no statistically significant difference in perceived level on distributed leadership according to the background variables of middle school teachers, but on average, it was shown to be high in female teachers, common teachers, over 21-year-career teachers and private school teachers. Second, there was a statistically positive correlation between distributed leadership and teacher efficacy or teaching commitment. Teacher efficacy showed a higher positive correlation than teaching commitment. Third, the study statistically showed that distributed leadership overall has influence on teacher efficacy and teaching commitment(41%). In conclusion, the study revealed a meaningful positive correlation between sub - elements of distributed leadership and sub - elements of teacher efficacy or teaching commitment, specially self-regulating efficacy, confidence of sub-elements of teacher efficacy, and school love of sub - elements of teaching commitment were positively explained according to the sub - elements of middle school teachers' distributed leadership. The explanatory power of the sub-elements of the distributed leadership on the teacher efficacy and the teaching commitment was 27% in the school situation, 28% in the leadership of the school principal, 28% in the leadership of the teacher, and 28% in the teacher interaction.

  • The purpose of this study was to find the relationship between the leadership type of the chief and the occupational satisfaction of a teacher as well as the desirable type to fullfill the educational purpose of pre-school institutes. The subject of this study were 191 teachers in private pre-school institutes. Halpin's "Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire" and Paula Jorde Bloom(1989)'s "Early Childhood Job Satisfaction Survey" have been modified and used for this study. The results are as follows: First, the leadership types of the chief teacher is recognizing can be classified into effective leadership, initiating structure, consideration, and ineffective leadership. Second, in regard to the occupational satisfaction of teachers they are satisfied with occupation itself and relationship between people rather than pay, social stability, and the environment of working. Third, the relationship between the leadership types of the chief and the occupational satisfaction shows the meaningful difference and consideration among the leadership types indicates the higher satisfaction of teachers. On the other hand, the type of ineffective leadership shows the lower satisfaction. As a result, the type of leadership of consideration contributes to the satisfaction rather than the types of leadership such as effective, ineffective, and initiating structure.

The Structural Relationship between the Director's Authentic Leadership, Social Support, and Teacher Efficacy Perceived by Early Childhood Teachers - Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Social Support - (유아교사가 지각한 원장의 진정성 리더십과 사회적 지지, 교사효능감의 구조적 관계: 사회적 지지의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the structural relationship between the authentic leadership of the director, social support, and teacher efficacy perceived by early childhood teachers. Methods: The participants of the study were 433 teachers working at kindergartens and daycare centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The data collected through the survey were analyzed by applying a structural equation model. Results: As a result of the study, it was found that the authentic leadership of the director perceived by early childhood teachers had a positive (+) effect on the early childhood teachers' social support and teacher efficacy, respectively, and social support had a positive (+) effect on teacher efficacy of the early childhood teachers. The results showed that social support had a positive mediating effect in the relationship between the director's authentic leadership and teacher efficacy perceived by early childhood teachers. Conclusion/Implications: The results suggest that it is necessary to establish a social support system through the exercise of the director's authentic leadership in order to improve the teacher efficacy of early childhood teachers.

Influence of Physical Education Teacher's Transformational Leadership on Trust and Class Satisfaction (체육교사의 변혁적 리더십이 학생들의 신뢰와 수업만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data needed for analyzing the factors needed for students' positive participation in physical education class and developing the leadership skills needed for effective class guidance by analyzing what relationship there exists between a physical education teacher-exercised transformational leadership and students' trust in physical education teachers and class satisfaction; thus, this study drew the conclusions as follows: First, in the relations between a physical education teacher-exercised transformational leadership and students' trust, it was found that a physical education teacher's charisma and intellectual stimulus had a positive influence on high school students. Second, it was found that a physical education teacher's charisma and individual consideration had a positive influence on a physical education teacher-exercised transformational leadership and the subordinate factor in class satisfaction-a sense of accomplishment while individual consideration and intellectual stimulus were found to have a positive influence on evaluation. Third, as for the trust in a physical education teacher and class satisfaction, the trust was found to have a positive influence on both a sense of accomplishment and evaluation.

The Mediating Effect of Emotional Leadership of Daycare Center Directors on the Relation between Childcare Teachers' Emotional Intelligence and Teacher-Infant Interaction (보육교사의 정서지능이 교사-영유아 상호작용에 미치는 영향에서 원장 감성리더십의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the relationships among childcare teachers' emotional intelligence, daycare center directors' emotional leadership, and teacher-infant interactions. Also, this study examines whether a daycare center director's emotional leadership would mediate the correlation between a childcare teacher's emotional intelligence and teacher-infant interactions. A questionnaire was given to 293 childcare teachers. Using SPSS version 21.0, the data were analyzed for Pearson's correlation, hierarchical regression analysis, the Sobel-test, and the meditation effect proposed by Baron and Kenny. The findings are as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between a childcare teacher's emotional intelligence, the director's emotional leadership, and teacher-infant interactions. Second, the influence on teacher-infant interactions from directors' emotional leadership was relatively greater than childcare teachers' emotional intelligence. Finally, the emotional leadership of daycare center directors partially mediated the relationship between childcare teachers' emotional intelligence and teacher-infant interactions. This study provides significant empirical data for improving childcare.

A Study on the Perception of Youth about Health Teacher's Servant Leadership, Student's Self-efficacy, and Health Promoting Behavior, and the Relationship among the Variables (보건교사의 서번트 리더십, 학생의 자기효능감, 건강증진행위에 대한 청소년의 인식과 변인 간의 관계)

  • Purpose: Maintaining a lifelong health is very important. The purpose of this study is to know the perception of youth about health teacher's servant leadership, student's self-efficacy, and health promoting behavior, and the relationship among the variables. Methods: This study used surveys of health teacher's servant leadership, student's self-efficacy, and health promotion behaviors. The subjects were 1,286 elementary, middle and high school students. PASW Statistics 18.0 was used in the data analysis. Percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA test were used to compare the difference of the health teacher's servant leadership, student's self-efficacy, and health promotion behavior according to the background variables of the subject. Results: There was a statistically significant difference in the perception of youth about health teacher's servant leadership, student's self-efficacy, and health promotion behaviors according to school level, establishment type, and grade. There was also a statistically significant difference in the perception of youth about student's self-efficacy and health promotion behaviors between male and female student. In addition, student's self-efficacy serves as a positive mediator to the effects of health teacher's servant leadership on student's health promoting behavior. Conclusion: Based on these results, it needs to implement the human resources and policy support for the systematic health education of elementary, middle, and high schools, the development of the program for the teacher's servant leadership, and the health promotion of students in curriculum.

The Structural Relationship between Director's Servant Leadership, Teacher's Empowerment and Organizational Cynicism Affecting on Teacher's Organizational Commitment at Kindergartens and Child Care Centers (육아지원기관 교사의 조직몰입에 영향을 미치는 원장의 서번트 리더십과 교사의 조직 냉소주의, 임파워먼트 간의 구조적 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships between of kindergartens and child care centers director's servant leadership, teacher's organizational cynicism, empowerment, and organizational commitment. The subjects for this study were 760 teachers of kindergartens and child care centers located in Daegu, Kyoungbuk and Ulsan district. The data collected were analyzed by means of AMOS 19.0. The results indicated that 1) The director's servant leadership, teacher's empowerment and organizational cynicism have a direct influence on organizational commitment. 2) The director's servant leadership directly influences teacher's empowerment and organizational cynicism. 3) The director's servant leadership indirectly influences teacher's empowerment and organizational cynicism in terms of the level of organizational commitment.

  • In daycare centers, the head teacher requires the leadership to effectively meet the demands of nursery facilities, since he or she plays a role of middle management in charge of communication with the director and the teachers. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the structural relationship between the head teacher's leadership and job satisfaction of childcare teachers to enhance their organizational commitment and improve service quality and operation of nursery facilities. A survey was conducted of childcare teachers in national and public daycare centers located in Gyunggi Province from February to March 2018. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistical programs. Analysis results found that leadership of the head teacher positively affected job satisfaction and organizational commitment of childcare teachers. Second, the job satisfaction of childcare teachers positively affected organizational commitment. Third, job satisfaction of childcare teachers had a mediating effect in the relationship between the head teacher's leadership and the childcare teachers' organizational commitment. Results of this study suggest that effective leadership of the head teacher should be exercised to enhance the organizational commitment of childcare teachers.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between teacher's self-efficacy and teacher's leadership in kindergartens and child care centers. The subjects are 215 teachers employed in kindergartens or child care centers in Chungnam & Daejeon Metropolitan City. Questionnaires, which required self-reporting by teachers, are used to investigate teacher's self-efficacy and teacher's leadership. The data are analyzed by frequency, percent, Pearson's correlation and stepwise regression. The results of this study are as follow. First, teacher's self-efficacy is positively associated with teacher's leadership. Second, teacher's self-efficacy affect teacher's leadership.

The Effects of Maternal Parenting, Teacher-Child Closeness Relationships and Effortful Control on Young Children's Leadership (어머니의 양육행동과 교사-유아 친밀 관계 및 유아의 의도적 통제가 리더십에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effects of young children's effortful control, maternal parenting and teacher-child closeness relationship on young children's leadership. The subjects of this study were 266, 4-5 year old children and their mothers and teachers. Young children's effortful control, maternal parenting, teacher-child relationship and leadership were assessed by mother's and teacher's report. The collected data were analyzed by means of Pearson's correlation and pathway analysis. The results were as follows: first, teacher-child closeness relationship was found to affect young children's leadership directly and indirectly through young children's effortful control. Second, maternal parenting was found to affect young children's leadership indirectly through young children's effortful control. Third, young children's effortful control was found to affect leadership directly and to have a mediating effect between maternal parenting and young children's leadership, and between teacher-child closeness relationship and young children's leadership. Additionally teacher-child closeness relationship was found to be the most important variable predicting young children's leadership. These findings suggest that teacher-child closeness relationship could be the most important means by which we could improve both young children's effortful control and leadership.
