  • This study was carried out to investigate women's labor in the private and public spheres in traditional societies from the Three Kingdom Period to the Chosen Dynasty. This study is based on review of historical literature. It was found that women in the traditional societies from the Three Kingdom Period to the Chosen Dynasty worked not only in private places, such as in households as housewives, but also as slaves in public places such as government offices. Also, women as housewives worked not only to fulfill private needs, but also to pay taxes. In this sense, women in traditional societies participated in labor force in the public arena, not unlike women in industrialized societies who participate in labor market. This research provides a piece of counterevidence against the general belief that women in traditional societies only conducted private housework at home. Therefore this study suggests that we need to rethink gender roles in traditional societies.

  • The major purpose of this study is to investigate the urban husbands' participation in household labor and to predict the amount of their participation in it. The major findings of this study are as follows; 1. Husbands participate in household labor(i.e. the housework and the child care)on the average for 114 minutes a weekday and for 240 minutes a holiday. They participate most in the child care among all the household tasks. The employed wives' husbands participate more in the housework than nonemployed wives' husbands. 2. Husbands' paid work time is the storngest predictor of their participation in household labor on weekdays but the age of the youngest child is the strongest one on holidays to both employed wives' and nonemployed wives' husbands. The implication of these findings for husbands' participation in household labor and future research were discussed.

  • The purposes of this paper are to investigate mismatch in labor supply and demand on small and medium industries in Suwon region by conducting surveys to potential employees and employers, and to suggest alternative policy means to eliminate those mismatch conditions. Reasons of occupation change, difference in terms desired in occupation between potential employee and employer, understanding in mismatch, and measure of labor shortage by firms are analyzed in this paper. The report's recommendations to eliminate labor mismatch in small and medium industry are categorized into two groups: working conditions and occupation competence. Narrowing the working conditions gap, utilization of idle workers, establishment of flexible wage system are suggested to eliminate labor condition mismatch. In addition, potential employees need to meet working requirements by building up both wide use ability, occupation specific ability, and industry specific ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the intra CSR for the sustainable hospital management. The company was proactive stance on CSR carried out in the environmental field as a preemptive countermeasures movement of citizens and government regulations. CSR, while performing for employees, is recognized as a problem within the enterprise, it was reluctant to respond to the performance and results published. This study aims to determine whether the effect is substantially reflect If you want to include in the process of demonstrating the impact of CSR within the organization to make decisions in labor union composed of employees of internal stakeholders as a parameter. In particular, research in the field of performing a public function such situations, hospitals are lacking. Internal CSR performance of the general hospital (professional) in this study was found to have mad that the generally positive effect on improving labor productivity within the organization. In particular, its performance was more positive than in the virtuous cycle that meets the expectations and internal performance improvements improve equity executives expect employees to be borne if your blood and your liver collaborative decision-making behavior. Therefore, the internal CSR awareness by investing in sustainable management of the partnership is expected to achieve improved financial performance and labor productivity by performing more active at the same time.

  • Purpose: This study was done to analyze the effect of supervisor-focused impression management behavior of the airline cabin crew on perceived customer empathy. It focused on verifying dual meanings of the crew's emotional expression divided into surface acting and deep acting. Research design, data and methodology: The survey was conducted on cabin crews of two major Korean airlines. The reliability and validity of each variable used in the questionnaire were verified. Then, each hypothesis was analyzed through multiple regression analysis. Results: Firstly, the crew's supervisor-focused impression management behavior had a significant effect only on surface acting of the crew's emotional labor behavior. Among the crew's supervisor-focused IM behaviors, verbal IM behavior had a greater influence on surface acting than non-verbal IM behavior. Secondly, there was no relationship between the crew's supervisor-focused IM behavior and the crew's deep acting. Thirdly, the crew's emotional labor behavior (surface acting & deep acting) had a significant effect on perceived customer empathy. Fourth, the crew's deep acting had a greater influence on perceived customer empathy than surface acting. Conclusions: Cabin crews receive double evaluation from their immediate supervisors and customers. As a result, it was confirmed that the crew's supervisor-focused IM behavior, the crew's emotional labor behavior, and perceived customer empathy were connected process.

  • Data mining, specially clustering is one of exciting research areas for ant based algorithms. Ant clustering algorithm, however, has many difficulties for resolving practical situations in clustering. We propose a new grid-based ant colony algorithm for clustering of data. The previous ant based clustering algorithms usually tried to find the clusters during picking up or dropping down process of the items of ants using some stigmergy information. In our ant clustering algorithm we try to make the ants reflect neighborhood information within the storage nests. We use two ant classes, search ants and labor ants. In the initial step of the proposed algorithm, the search ants try to guide the characteristics of the storage nests. Then the labor ants try to classify the items using the guide in-formation that has set by the search ants and the stigmergy information that has set by other labor ants. In this procedure the clustering decision of ants is quickly guided and keeping out of from the stagnated process. We experimented and compared our algorithm with other known algorithms for the known and statistically-made data. From these experiments we prove that the suggested ant mining algorithm found the clusters quickly and effectively comparing with a known ant clustering algorithm.

  • Despite the rapid development in the construction industry due to the changing new technologies, many projects still fail to meet target deadlines. Shortage in manpower and skilled laborers is one of the main reasons for such delays. Markets with high economic growth and economic expansion (such as Gulf Countries in the Middle East) may have pronounced labor the shortages. Labor subcontracting practices are used sometimes to increase production rates and meet project deadlines. This paper explains and analyses labor subcontracting practices currently being used in many places around the world (and especially in the Gulf Countries) and in particular defines a maximum overtime rate for laborers in the laborer-subcontracting method ensuring that the contractor gains both the time saved during overtime and also reduces the cost per unit produced. The mathematical model used formalizes a closed-form equation for overtime pay in similar situations and as such can be applicable worldwide. Data was collected from representative projects that employed such practices from various trades. Validation of the model and formula has been tested successfully by analyzing historic data. The results prove that contractors often do not reach the optimum use of their practices resulting in a higher cost per unit. The presented model and the analysis should be of interest to many contractors currently involved in the practice or considering its use and to those who wish to find new methods that would help in eliminating as much wastes as possible by allocating their resources in the most efficient way.

  • After the new standards for labor hours has been released, various problems come up in construction field, such as income reduction of employees, extension of construction period and increased construction cost. Although it is expected that the impact of the new standard on the construction industry is more worse than other industries form the view of productivity, not much works have been done to identify those impacts. Thus, this research proposes the standard construction processes, excavation cycle, and unit construction period for NATM tunnel project based on 'Construction Standard Production Rates.'The study also investigated the impact of reduced labor hours on the management of work crews, construction periods and costs of tunnel projects. The results showed that under the 52 labor hour standard, the construction periods for the excavation work and whole project was increased by 20% and 8.9%, respectively, but the construction costs for the excavation work and whole project was decreased by 1.4% and 0.6%, respectively.
