  • This paper proposes a method to select the overshoot design parameters of the LQ-PID controller by using convex optimization in order to satisfy the design specifications. The tuning parameters of LQ-PID controller are determinated by the relationships between the design parameter to control both the overshoot and the settling time and the weighting factors Q and R in LQR.

  • The inverted pendulum is one of the control mechanism that has been frequently used to verify the control theory in the laboratory. In this paper, the author made an inverted pendulum driven by DC servomotor with a simple DC motor drive circuit, and constituted a control system. The control mechanism is modeled, and identified parameters of inverted pendulum system by experimental method. The author used the LQ regulator as control algorithm and the minimum order observer algorithm to observe states that can not be measured. And the validity of parameter identification and the excellent performance of the control system designed by LQR are confirmed.

  • This paper deals with an observer-based preview control for semi-active suspensions. An Observer has been designed such that all the state variables and road inputs can be estimated from accelerations. Since the road input to the rear wheels is a delayed version of that to the front wheels, it can be obtained by estimating the road input to the front wheels without preview the estimated values of state and the estimated road input has been investigated. The results show that the observer-based control can provide good performance. The observer-based preview control improves the dynamic behavior of the rear axle and that of pitch motion compared to the LQ optimal control.

  • If a general nonlinear system is linearized by the successive multiplication of the 1st and 2nd order systems, then there are four types of poles in this linearized system: the pole of the 1st order system and the equal poles, two distinct real poles, and complex conjugate pair of poles of the 2nd order system. Linear Quadratic (LQ) control is a method of designing a control law that minimizes the quadratic performance index. It has the advantage of ensuring the stability of the system and the pole placement of the root of the system by weighted matrix adjustment. LQ control by the weighted matrix can move the position of the pole of the system arbitrarily, but it is difficult to set the weighting matrix by the trial and error method. This problem can be solved using the characteristic equations of the Hamiltonian system, and if the control weighting matrix is a symmetric matrix of constants, it is possible to move several poles of the system to the desired closed loop poles by applying the control law repeatedly. The paper presents a method of calculating the state weighting matrix and the control law for moving the equal poles with Jordan blocks to two real poles using the characteristic equation of the Hamiltonian system. We express this characteristic equation with a state weighting matrix by means of a trigonometric function, and we derive the relation function (${\rho},\;{\theta}$) between the equal poles and the state weighting matrix under the condition that the two real poles are the roots of the characteristic equation. Then, we obtain the moving-range of the two real poles under the condition that the state weighting matrix becomes a positive semi-finite matrix. We calculate the state weighting matrix and the control law by substituting the two real roots selected in the moving-range into the relational function. As an example, we apply the proposed method to a simple example 3rd order system.

  • This paper concerns an articulated space robot with flexible links. The equations of its motion are derived by means of the Lagrangian mechanics. Assuming that magnitude of elastic motions are relatively small, the perturbation approach is taken to separate the original equations of motion into linear and nonlinear equations. Th effect the desired payload motion, open loop control inputs are first determined based on the nonlinear equations. One the other hand, in order to reduce the positional errors during the maneuver, vibration suppression is actively done with a feedforward control for disturbance cancellation to some extent. Additionally, for performance robustness against residual disturbance, an LQ control modified to have a prescribed degree of stability is applied based on the linear equations. Measurement equations are formulated to be used for the maximum likelihood estimator to reconstruct states from the original robot equations of motion. Finally, numerical simulations show effectiveness of the proposed control design scheme.

  • In this paper, a state space solution to the discete time H$_{\infty}$ control problem is presented. It is shown that there exist LQ game problem corresponding to H$_{\infty}$ control problems and the H$_{\infty}$ controller can be obtained by solving the LQ game problem. Explicit state space formulae are given for the state feedback H$_{\infty}$ controller and output feedback H$_{\infty}$ controllers.lers. state feedback $H_{\infty}$ controller and output feedback $H_{\infty}$ controllers.

  • Overhead crane must do to control occurrence of Anti-Sway according to work situation that is used in case move industry spot's heavy freight, and do safe transfer of freight. Transfer process that make use of crane suspends and consist of series action that put down freight to do relevant addition decreasing the speed before objective while move by schedule section equal speed because increasing the speed after lift thing. This need skill degree by experience because there are operator's function and affinity. Also, must control this effectively because can affect big productivity elevation according to effect that get in transfer of safe freight, Therefore, illuminate physical characteristic of crane and algorithm of motor drive department and there is purpose of this research to do so that correct control may be available through over head crane's shaking control and position control designing LQ controller.

  • LQ actuator selection problem for multi-input system discussed in this paper is to determine optimal actuator out of many actuators and input sequences so as to minimize the quadratic control performance. The solution of this problem depends on initial values and has a combinatorial property, so it is extremely difficult to get an optimal solution. For this difficulty, we proposed the concept of comparability of actuators and showed the uniqueness of the solution[1] . Further, to get general optimal solution for LQ problem with actuator selection strategies, we derived the equivalent condition for the comparability of actuator in single-input system . In this paper we extend this result to the case of multi-input system. The derived sufficient condition is applicable in the case of positive semi-definite comparability matrices.

  • In this paper, controller for PWM converter considering unsymetrical input voltage is designed and current controller using LQ controller with conditional integrator is proposed. And the proposed current controller is compared with other current controller-predictive controller, decoupling PI controller. As simulation results, LQ controller with Conditional Integrator shows the improved performance for DC link voltage regulation through transient test of load variation. And when unsymeritrical input voltage is applied to converter with conventional current controller considering only symetrical input voltage, input current is distorted but it is showed that current controller considering unsymetrical input has robust control characteristics under phase voltage unbalance.

  • This paper proposes a new method for tuning a linear quadratic - proportional integral derivative controller for second order systems to simultaneously meet the time and frequency domain design specifications. The suitable loop-shape of the controlled system and the desired step response are considered as specifications in the time and frequency domains, respectively. The weighting factors, Q and R of the LQ controller are determined by the algebraic Riccati equation with respect to the limiting behavior and target function matching. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed LQ-PID tuning method
