  • The objective of the High Energy Physics(HEP) is to understand the basic properties of elementary particles and their interactions. The CMS(Compact Muon Solenoid) experiment at CERN which will produce a few PetaByte of data and the size of collaboration is around 2000 physicists. We cannot process the amount of data by current concept of computing. Therefore, an area of High Energy Physics uses a concept of Tier and Data Grid. We also apply Data Grid to current High Energy Physics experiments. In this paper, we report High Energy Physics Data Grid System as an application of Grid.

  • Glyphosate(N-[phosphonomethyl]glycine) applied to the assimilate-exporting leaves(i.e. third old leaf) of tomato(Lycopersicon esculentum Mil var. Moneymaker). Herbicide binding protein, QB protein(D1), has been immunoblotted using the antibodies raised against the hybrid-protein expressed by a part of spinach psb A gene cloned in frame with the 3'end of lac Z gene to allow expression of the ${\beta}$-galactosidase(EC 3.21.23) in Escherichia coli. Glyphosate has an effect on a turnover of D1 within photosystem II of thylakoid membrane. The dysfunction of D1 protein within light harvesting complex(LHC-II) seems to be a pleiotropic effect of glyphosate.

  • The surface of particles was energetically modified by inter-grinding OPC and BFS in vibration mill for improvement of the early strength and low-heat evolution of concretes. BFS was pre-grinding in ball-mill to 2535(BS2) and 3245 $cm^2/g$(BS3), in blaine surface area. The inter-grinding time in vibration mill was changed from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. And Mixing ration of BFS to OPC was changed in 60, 70, 80%. After inter-grinding, the change of specific surface area, particle size distribution, hydration heat of cement and compressive strength of mortar were measured. As the result of comparison test with LHC, it was found that the mixture and inter-grinding time satisfying the value of over 100% of compressive strength for 7 days and under 170J/g of heat of hydration for 72 hours. and it was confirmed that the possibility of low heat slag cement utilizing blast furnace slag(BS2, BS3) with the low fineness in high volumes.

  • This study has examined the effect of bottom ash(BA) on the properties of low heat-blended cement(LHC) and concrete. A number of binders were prepared by the replacement of LHC with BA in range of 5$^{\sim}$20wt%. The results showed that the final setting time of cement paste were delayed when the BA replaced part of the cement. However, The heat of hydration increased narrowly with adding BA in a early hydration period. The results also showed the inclusion of BA at replacement levels of 5$^{\sim}$10wt% resulted in an increase in compressive strength of the specimens compared with that of the control concrete and improved a resistance of concrete against the sulfate and chlorine ion.

  • Advanced concrete technology, which is the main construction technology of skyscraper, is dealt with in this paper. Advanced concrete technologies are classified into several types such as super high strength concrete(SHSC), low heat concrete(LHC), fire resistant concrete(FRC) and blast resistant concrete(BRC). The necessity, principal and application examples of advanced concrete technology are described respectively. In the last part of the paper, the introduction of HYUNDAI E&C's technology of Advanced concrete and future research trend are described.

  • Recently, owing to the development of industry and improvement of building techniques, concrete structures are becoming larger and higher. This study was performed to analyze hydration reation properties of concrete with binders and admixtures, such as OPC, low heat cement, belite rich cement, slag powder, lime powder and fly ash. To investigate effects of PC type superplasticizer on the hydration, experiments involving FT-IR, XRD, DSC, SEM were analyzed at the curing age 1day, 3days and 28days. The hydration reaction rate of OPC concrete slightly delayed at the curing age 1day, blast furnace slag powder and fly ash were more effective. BRC and LHC concretes can be used for concrete structures in winter season.

  • WLCG/EGEE project has a main goal of providing application scientists with access to a geographically distributed computing Grid infrastructure. Currently, WLCG/EGEE infrastructure is the world's largest Grid infrastructure, providing over 20,000 CPUs and about 3 PB disk at 200 international sites and used by over 9 application domains including LHC experiments from high-energy physics. This paper addresses the design and construction of WLCG/EGEE tier-2 propelled by international collaboration with EGEE-II project.

  • The seismic fragility analyses of reinforced concrete propelled beam are performed to evaluate safety margin. The models were simulated by Latin Hyper-Cube (LHC) method considering various aging-related deterioration of RC beam. Fragility curves under various condition subjected to static load are compared. It is found that the 20$\%$ loss of top and bottom steel 15$\%$ lower than the undegraded beam in the ultimate strength. Seismic fragility analyses were performed to find out the effect of aging-related deterioration on the dynamic behaviour of RC beam.

  • If gas hydrate dissociates due to natural and/or human activities, it generates large amount of gas and water. Upon gas hydrate dissociation, a generated pore water pressure between soil particles increases and results in the loss of an effective stress and degradation of soil stiffness and strength. In order to predict the generated excess pore water pressure due to gas hydrate dissociation, two methods based on small hydrate concept (SHC) and large hydrate concept (LHC) are proposed. An excess pore water pressure generated by the gas hydrate dissociation in the Storegga Slide was calculated using two proposed methods.

  • The differential quantum chromodynamics (QCD) predictions for the $W^{\pm}$ boson and a single jet as functions of the lepton pseudorapidity in proton-proton collisions are presented up next-to-leading order correction in QCD. The predictions are done by using the most modern parton distribution functions (PDFs). To check the reliability of the PDFs, we compared 7 TeV predictions with the available experimental results at the corresponding energy. Finally, the differential QCD predictions and the asymmetry between the $W{^+}+1$ jet and $W{^-}+1$ jet events at $\sqrt{s}=7$, 8, 13, 14 and 100 TeV are discussed in detail.
