This study compared a number of related variables according to children's stress types using the data mining method. The sample population was taken from the Korean Youth Panel Survey (KYPS) data (2688, sixth-grade elementary students). The results of the decision tree model revealed that : (1) Parental expectations in terms of study, life satisfaction, self-esteem, parental attachment, aggression, the spousal relationship, other cognition (one's own misdeeds), and study related worries were all related to parent stress. (2) Life satisfaction, study related worries, admitting one's own misdeeds, gender, other cognition (one's own misdeeds), aggression, the spousal relationship, and a sense of alienation in the school were all related to appearance stress. (3) Study related worries, parental expectations in terms of study, aggression, life satisfaction, self-esteem, parental attachment, satisfying parental expectations, parental attachment, and teacher attachment were all related to academic stress. (4) A sense of alienation in the school, mixing with peers in the school, aggression, self-esteem, other cognition (one's own misdeeds), study related worries, parental abuse, and life satisfaction were all significantly related to friend stress. These results suggested that children's diverse conditions should be considered according to the stress types if we are to understand and cope with these stress types more efficiently.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the influencing factors of adolescents' life satisfaction. Methods: The data of the 6th Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) was analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 and 24.0 AMOS program. Based on literature review, a hypothetical model consisted of six theoretical variables, twelve paths and seventeen measurable variables. Results: The modified model showed a goodness of fit to the empirical data(GFI=0.958, AGFI=0.940, NFI=0.945, RFI=0.931, TLI=0.904, RMSEA=0.055). Ten paths among twelve paths proved to statistically significant. Depression showed statistically significant effects on adolescents' life satisfaction directly. Personal characteristics, parenting behavior, peer attachment and self-esteem showed statistically significant effects on adolescents' life satisfaction directly and indirectly. Personal factors and external environmental factors affect adolescents' life satisfaction. Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop programs to improve adolescents' life satisfaction.
The purpose of this study was to examine the general characteristics and the variety of family life experiences related to the life satisfaction of multicultural families with school-aged children. Data were drawn from the first wave of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey conducted in 2010 and developed by the National Youth Policy Institute. Further, the sample for this study consisted of 95 multicultural families who met the requirements. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the t -test, analysis of variance, and multiple regression using SPSS ver. 18.0. The main results showed that family life experiences that were made up of 5 domains, specifically time, leisure, household economy, health, and child education had a broad range of levels. In addition, family life experiences differed according to the general characteristics of multicultural families with school-aged children, such as mother's employment status, number of children, father's employment status and education level, and family composition. Lastly, their life satisfaction was significantly predicted by the father's employment status and health, children's age, children's education, and leisure in the order of significance. These findings suggested the need to expand the social intervention range for multicultural families with school-aged children, particularly in terms of family leisure and children's school life adaptation.
In this paper, the effects of parental neglect and abuse on school adjustment mediated by social withdrawal in adolescents were examined using a sample of 2,163 second grade middle school students(1,096 boys and 1,067 girls) from the Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) data set. All research variables were measured using self-reported questionnaires. They were analyzed by means of Structural Equation Modeling. The results indicated that parents' abuse had no direct effect, but there was an indirect effect on adolescents' school adjustment mediated by adolescents' social withdrawal. Parental neglect had a direct effect on adolescents' school adjustment and also had an indirect effect on adolescents' school adjustment mediated by social withdrawal. The results indicate that parental neglect is a more significant contributor than adolescents' social withdrawal on adolescents' school adjustment. The results of this study show that parenting attitude, more specifically parental neglect, tend to be more important factors on school adjustment compared to adolescents' psychological problems, such as social withdrawal in adolescence. Taken together, these findings suggest that interventions aimed at improving parental neglect and adolescents' social withdrawal need to be emphasized if adolescents are to better adjust to school life.

School life adjustment had statistically significant direct and indirect effects on cell phone addiction in adolescents. Conclusions : Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop prevention and intervention programs to combat cell phone addiction in Korean adolescents.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influencing the effects of emotional characteristics of adolescents on cell phone addiction and to form the basis for the developments of programs to protect addictive cell phone use. Methods: The data of the Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) was analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The influencing factors of the cell phone addiction were gender, attention, physical symptoms, depression, aggression, social withdrawal, games and entertainment, listening to music, text messages, call family and watching movies. The factors accounted for 30.6% of variance in cell phone addiction. Conclusions: These results suggest that cell phone addiction are influenced by emotional characteristics of adolescents. These results may contribute to development of programs to prevent cell phone addiction.
The purpose of this study was to examine the developmental trajectories of adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors. The data came from 3,188 middle school students through their participation in the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS). Adolescents with a high level of internalizing problem behaviors in the first year showed a rapid decline in these behaviors over time, whereas for adolescents with a low level of these behaviors in the first year the decline was slow. The predictors of the developmental trajectories were related to individual variables, such as gender, self-esteem, self-control, stress, self-stigmatization, and academic achievement. The developmental trajectories of adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors were classified into four groups. The predictors of the patterns of developmental trajectories in adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors appeared to be related to individual variables.
The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in psychological characteristics according to cell phone dependency and use purpose in cell phone users of adolescences. Psychological characteristics of adolescents were consisted of attention aggression, somatic symptoms, social withdrawal, depression variables. The subjects were 2,158 cell phone owned second graders of middle school. A data of the Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) was employed for the this study. Dependency and use purpose of cell phone were classified by cluster analysis into four groups with similar characteristics : 'high dependency-multipurpose', 'low dependency-social', 'low dependency-unsocial' 'middle dependency-peer interaction' groups. Major findings were that: the group differences in psychological characteristics were statistically significant. The 'low dependency-social' group showed highest on adjustments, and the other groups were maladaptive. Finally, implications for future research were discussed.
