An Analysis of Competencies of Dietitians in Self-operated vs. Contracted Employee Foodservice by Worker-oriented Job Analysis Methodology (직영 및 위탁 사업체 급식소 영양사에 대한 작업자 지향적 직무분석(제 1 보) : 직무 수행 능력 요건)

  • The job characteristics and competencies of 285 dietitians in employee foodservices were investigated by worker-oriented job analysis methodology. The purposes of this study were to : a) determine the knowledge, abilities, skills and other characteristics(KASO, hereafter) needed for dietitians in two types of employee foodservice groups(self-operated vs. contracted) and b) the analysis of the degree of frequency and importance and entry requirements of KASO items listed below : their degree of frequency, the level of importance and their function as entry requirements. The 134 KASO items would be divided into 12 task categories. The questionnaire was mailed to 250 dietitians who are members of The Korean Dietetic Association Practice Group in self-operated foodservices(hereafter group A) and 250 dietitians who are employed in contracted foodservice companies(hereafter group B). Completed questionnaires were received from 285 dietitians(121 in self-operated, 164 in contracted) ; with a response rate of 57%. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SPSS/win and the SAS/win packages. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1) Analysis of the degree of frequency, importance and entry requirements of 134 KASO items in group A showed a high priority(score〉4.0) placed on 14 items in relation to dietetic tasks and 9 items in relation to human attributes, whereas in group B 19 items in relation to dietetic tasks and 11 items in relation to human attributes. 2) Comparing responses about the KASO items in the 12 task categories, there was a significant difference between the two sample groups with regard to degree of frequency : group A scored 3.29, group B scored 3.50(p〈0.01). With regard to importance of KASO items in 12 task categories, group A scored 3.78 and group B scored 3.88 showing no significant differences. With to entry requirements of KASO items in 12 task categories, group A scored 3.29 and group B scored 3.46 showing a significant difference(p〈0.05).   • Ever since the dawn of civilization, the ambient vegetation and the resources constituted major source of human existence for various substantial requirements. Our present knowledge on plant resources emerged from the traditional heritable knowledge descended from generation to generation. However, traditional knowledge pertaining to several aspects remained untapped from various remote localities or populations. Furthermore, with the present trends of excessive exploitation of natural resources and degradation of habitats, conservation and ecological management require coherence of traditional skills and modern approaches. Therefore, the present study is to record traditional plant based knowledge among the inhabitants of Siwalik region of Uttarakhand Himalaya. Extensive field survey was made for the collection of data on the medicinal aspects of plant species in the study area covering the parts of districts Pauri, Dehradun and Haridwar. During the course of study 130 plant species belonging to 65 families are reported, used as traditional medicine by the local inhabitants of this region.

  • There has been a rapid growth in the development of mobile application resulting from its wide usage for online transaction, data storage and exchange of information. However, an important issue that has been overlooked is the lack of emphasis on the security issues at the early stage of the development. In fact, security issues have been kept until the later stage of the implementation of mobile apps. Requirements engineers frequently ignore and incorrectly elicit security related requirements at the early stage of mobile application development. This scenario has led to the failure of developing secure and safe mobile application based on the needs of the users. As such, this paper intends to provide further understanding of the real challenges in extracting security attributes for mobile application faced by novice requirements engineers. For this purpose, two experiments on eliciting security attributes requirements of textual requirements scenario were conducted. The performance related to the correctness and time taken to elicit the security attributes were measured and recorded. It was found that the process of eliciting correct security attributes for mobile application requires effort, knowledge and skills. The findings indicate that an automated tool for correct elicitation security attributes requirement could help to overcome the challenges in eliciting security attributes requirements, especially among novice requirements engineers.

The Effects of the Project Managers' Competency and Leadership Style on the Performance and the Customer Satisfaction of SI Projects (SI 프로젝트에 있어서 프로젝트 관리자의 역량과 리더십 유형이 프로젝트 성과와 고객만족에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, as business becomes more dependent on information technology for their operations, SI project managers are under increasing pressure to implement SI projects on time and within budget, and to satisfy customer requirements. For the success of SI projects and customer satisfaction, SI project managers should master the critical shills and knowledge requirements and consider the proper leadership style to lead the team members and to manage SI projects. The leadership style includes four categories, such as directive leadership, supportive leadership, participative leadership, and achievement-oriented leadership. This study has examined the project managers' competency and suggests the three competency factors, which are technical, human, and conceptual shills, for the success of SI projects and customer satisfaction. The study suggests that SI project managers should master the three critical skills and knowledge requirements, and consider the proper leadership style for the successful implementation of SI projects. Also SI project managers should consider contingency factors such as project size and duration and outcome variables such as protect performance and customer satisfaction so as to enhance the leadership effectiveness.

  • Design of personnel teams has been studied from diverse perspectives; the most common are the people and systems requirements perspectives. All these point of view are linked, which is the reason why it is necessary to study them simultaneously. Considering this gap, a decision making model is developed based on factors, models, and requirements mentioned in the literature. The model is applied to a real case. The findings indicate that the Personnel Behavior Based Lean model (PBBL) can be converted into a decision making model for the selection of team members. The study is focused not only on the individual candidates' knowledge, skills, and aptitudes, but also on how the model considers the company requirements, conflicts, and the importance of each person to the project.

  • An increasing number of researchers are finding that 'poor' CG is a leading factor in dismal performance, manipulated financial reports, and unhappy stakeholders. Undoubtedly, qualified, trained and mature Chartered Forensic Accountants (CFA's) can prove to be a valuable asset to the corporate sector, and gradually help to improve their CG system. The fundamental objective of this study is to find out "how can we integrate the expertise of the FA to improve the overall CG scenario prevalent in India?" This is a preliminary investigation of the necessary skills, educational and training requirements for CFA's to improve CG system. During 2011-12, a questionnaire-based survey was conducted in the NCR of India using a sample size of 120 practicing chartered accountants, accounting academics, and potential users of FA services. Results indicate that potential practitioners, academics and users agree that "critical thinking, written & oral communication, legal knowledge, auditing skills, deductive analysis, investigative flexibility, analytical proficiency and unstructured problem-solving are the most important skills required for the CFAs." Moreover, we found that all of the skills investigated in this study are 'potentially' important for the CFAs, which the educators at the Universities should use as an overall guide while designing their FA curriculum."

A convergence study on the experience of applying the self-directed practice reciprocal peer tutoring: Focusing on medication nursing of fundamental core nursing skills (자율실습에서의 상호동료 교수법 적용경험에 대한 융합적 연구: 핵심기본간호술 투약간호를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand in-depth the effect of self-directed practice in for core fundamental nursing skills applying reciprocal peer tutoring on the learning of nursing college students. The study participants were 15 students in the 4th grade of the department of nursing, and data were collected through in-depth interviews. The results of analysis resulted in four themes: 'motivation of learning', 'self-directed learning', 'improving achievement', and 'insufficient learning requirements'. The core fundamental nursing skills applying reciprocal peer tutoring has a positive experience of inducing motivation of learning for participants through a comfortable environment and improving self-confidence, and gaining opportunities to lead prior learning and learn in the learner's language. However, there have been experiences where additional knowledge expansion is difficult and feelings of insecurity is felt due to insufficient learning requirements. Therefore, when applying the reciprocal peer tutoring method to self-directed practice, it is considered to be effective if the professor applies a method that can sufficiently satisfy the learner's learning needs.

A Study on The Possibility of The Convergence Education In Engineering (공학 분야의 학문융합교육 가능성 분석)

  • This study aims to identify on the possibility of the convergence education in engineering. Delphi survey on a panel of experts was chosen to be the main methodology for this study, drawing the main factors of convergence education in engineering. From Oct. 10 to Nov. 25, 2013, a three-round Delphi survey was implemented to collect data. A panel of eighteen experts were involved in this survey. For statistical processing, descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were carried out along with internal reliability test on the survey instrument. First, the possible convergence of disciplines in engineering were found to Design, Industrial design, ICT, Health care services, Video media, Business and Administration, Organizational psychology, Sociology, Humanities and Aesthetics. Second, the convergence education factors to be most important demanded creativity, idea generation techniques such as the expression of thought communication skills, technical expertise in the field per line, understanding of basic knowledge, verification of common elements among different disciplines, understanding of other disciplines fusion in engineering, artistry and imagination, etc. Third, requirements for the talented person of convergence were the open mind and enthusiasm, creative imagination, accept the opinions of others, skills capacity as a creative expression, and challenges. Above-mentioned requirements are found to be the necessary elements for convergence education.

A Study on the Perception about Engineering Convergence Competency between Industry and Engineering Students (공학 융합역량에 대한 산업체와 대학생의 인식 비교분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in the perception and education requirements between industry and engineering students on engineering convergence competency, and to suggest implications for fostering engineers suitable to industry demand and direction of focus improvement in the current engineering education field. To this end, 73 industrial representatives and 104 engineering students are surveyed the engineering convergence competency and educational needs. The results of this analysis are as follows: first, the difference in engineering convergence competency by background variable was significantly different in gender of engineering students. Second, it is found that there is a significant difference between the current level and the required level of engineering convergence competency from an industry perspective. In the IPA results, it shows that new knowledge generation and future-oriented vision skills are urgently needed to be improved. And it is showed that the creative thinking, knowledge utilization, communication, and cooperation capabilities skills need to be maintained continuously. Third, as a result of the analysis of the differences in recognition of the current competency levels between industry and engineering students, there is statistically significant differences in systemic thinking, communication and cooperation, understanding of other academic fields, humanities, and future-oriented perspectives. Therefore, it is necessary to specific plans and efforts to reduce this perception gap should be prepared at the university.

  • Athletic products must meet the needs of athletes and the demands imposed by sports through innovative design. These needs of athletes and requirements of sports are performance, protection and comfort related. In depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, etiology of commonly reported injuries, and lower extremity mechanics form the basis of product creation/engineering. Game analysis which entails time and frequency surveys of the skills performed during a game, interviews with athletes and coaches, and discussions with medical staffs are used to identify the skills that are critical to the needs of athletes. In lab full biomechanical analyses of these skills and/or physiological responses of the athletes lead to clear functional criterions that serve as guidelines to be met by the design team. The concepts created by the design team are in turns subjected to the same battery of biomechanical analyses. The learning gathered through this pluridisciplinary process is used to further evolve design concepts. The evolution-testing loop is repeated until biomechanical and/or physiological, mechanical and perceptual tests indicate that the design concept meets the established functional design criterions. At that time, the design concepts is ready for manufacturing research and development. Additional biomechanical and physical tests are performed through that phase to confirm that the manufacturing processes preserve the functionality of the design concept. Durability and long term performance of production samples are evaluated through a final three month long weartest program. A rigorous research/testing program is crucial to create and engineer sport products that meet the performance, protection.
