Three main points are shown through this study. First, the correlation of all five factors extracted from salespeople personality traits with customer orientation was statistically significant. Personality traits and customer orientation were partially correlated with job satisfaction or job performance. Second, the regression analysis was conducted to examine the influence of personality traits and customer orientation on job satisfaction; subsequently, only two factors extracted from customer orientation (consideration for customers and customer-centered thinking) were significant predictors of job satisfaction. Third, the result of the regression analysis between personality traits and job performance showed that the most influential predictor of job performance was conscientiousness, followed by likeability, openness and introversion. The most influential factor between customer orientation and job performance was competence in providing product information, followed by consideration for customers, customer-centered thinking, and a reliability-focused response.

Methods : We conducted a survey of 562 dental hygienists working in dental clinics nationwide. Collected data were analyzed by using the SAS(Version 9.2, SAS Institute, Cary, N.C.) package. $x^2$ test was used to determine the general characteristics of the subjects including job satisfaction level and intention to work abroad. Results : Old aged dental hygienists tended to work in the country rather than abroad(p<0.05). Higher job satisfaction was closely related to working hours, monthly income, social status, and stability of employment(p<0.05). Job satisfaction was concerned with intention to overseas employment. The main purpose of overseas employment included economic benefits(35.99%), self realization(26.75%), and improvement of working condition(21.66%) in the group of overseas employment(p<0.05). The obstacles to overseas employment were mastery of language proficiency(60.94%) and related information(21.89%) in those who want to work abroad. Conclusions : In order to increase the number of Korean dental hygienists for overseas employment, it is necessary to improve working competence and job satisfaction.

  • This study attempted to determine differences between the perceived empowerment level and job satisfaction depending on hairdressers' demographic characteristics and analyze the effects of their empowerment on job satisfaction. For this, a total of 310 hairdressers in Gwangju-Jeonnam and Seoul-Gyeonggi-do were chosen through convenience sampling, and then a questionnaire survey was conducted. The valid 277 copies were used for final analysis. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's test, and multiple regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 15.0. The study results found the following: First, in terms of the subordinate factors of empowerment, the following four factors were found: meaningfulness, self-determination, competence, and impact. Second, depending on demographic characteristics (e.g., age, career, type of beauty salon, job title, punch-in time, monthly pay), a statistically significant difference was found between empowerment and job satisfaction (p<.01). Third, hairdressers' perceived empowerment level had a positive impact on job satisfaction (p<.01). In terms of the empowerment on job satisfaction by sub-factor, 'self-determination' was largest, followed by 'meaningfulness' and 'competence.' Therefore, beauty salon owners need to manage their business more efficiently by converging cosmetology and business management by expanding empowerment among hairdressers properly after recognizing the importance of hairdresser empowerment.

  • As a sufficient workforce supports the industry's growth, workforce training has also been carried out as part of the industry promotion policy. However, the market still has a shortage of skilled mid-level workers. The information security disclosure requires organizations to secure personnel responsible for information security work. Still, the division between information technology work and job areas is unclear, and the pay is not high for responsibility. This paper compares job keywords in advertisements for the information security workforce for 2014, 2019, and 2022. There is no difference in the keywords describing the job duties of information security personnel in the three years, such as implementation, operation, technical support, network, and security solution. To identify the actual needs of companies, we also analyzed and compared the contents of job advertisements posted on online recruitment sites with information security sector knowledge and skills defined by the National Competence Standards used for comprehensive vocational training. It was found that technical skills such as technology development, network, and operating system are preferred in the actual workplace. In contrast, managerial skills such as the legal system and certification systems are prioritized in vocational training.

  • Many organizations have spent huge investments on information systems (IS) but are unable to achieve the maximum benefits expected. The problem of system underutilization of implemented IS is a major factor that causes the lackluster returns on organizational investments in IS. In light of the need for solutions to underutilization, researchers are beginning to explore IS infusion to enhance task performance. IS infusion is the extent to which an individual fully uses the system to enhance his or her task performance. So far, there has yet to be any significant finding or theory to explain the phenomenon. Therefore this study offers a conceptual framework on IS infusion based on the socio-technical system perspective. Particularly, this study investigates the influence of job fit, task competence, technology competence, self-determination with technology and self-determination with task on IS infusion. The analysis following the collection of empirical data found that job fit and self-determination with technology are positively related to IS infusion. This study serves as a basis for future research and suggests important implication to managers and system designers in promoting IS infusion.
