Maria Mies also insists that co-relationship in a community is the most essential to manage common resource successful. In a similar vein, this study attempts to prove that common resource management can create solutions to socioeconomic problems and ways to prevent resource scarcities in the future. • This paper addresses the development on supply-demand outlook model of Jeju winter radish and introduces a projection of supply-demand and market prices during 2014-2018 using the model. The supply-demand outlook model is specified as a partial equilibrium model of Jeju winter radish. Each equation in the model is estimated by using the econometric techniques. A review of the model stability is also carried out by the references based on RMSPE, MAPE, and Theil's inequality coefficients. According to the reference of RMAPE, the error rates of the forecasting values of the cultivation ares, production quantity, and consumption quantity show less than 4% and the error rate of market price is below 10%. The cultivation area and production quantity are projected respectively to be increased to 6,650ha and 433,310MT in 2018.

  • It is possible to provide Smart Tourism Service through the development of information technology. It is necessary for the tourism industry to understand and utilize Big Data that has tourists' consumption patterns and service usage patterns in order to continuously create a new business model by converging with other industries. This study suggests to activate Jeju Smart Tourism by analyzing Big Data based on credit card usage records and location of tourists in Jeju. The results of the study show that First, the percentage of Chinese tourists visiting Jeju has decreased because of the effect of THAAD. Second, Consumption pattern of Chinese tourists is mostly occurring in the northern areas where airports and duty-free shops are located, while one in other regions is very low. The regional economy of Jeju City and Seogwipo City shows a overall stagnation, without changes in policy, existing consumption trends and growth rates will continue in line with regional characteristics. Third, we need a policy that young people flow into by building Jeju Multi-complex Mall where they can eat, drink, and go shopping at once because the number of young tourists and the price they spend are increasing. Furthermore, it is necessary to provide services for life-support related to weather, shopping, traffic, and facilities etc. through analyzing Wi-Fi usage location. Based on the results, we suggests the marketing strategies and public policies for understanding Jeju tourists' patterns and stimulating Jeju tourism industry.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the business cycle in the Jeju region and what differences exist in relation to the nation as a whole, to calculate the relative importance between the random walk stochastic trend and cyclical factor, and to find out its causes and implications. Results of empirical analysis found that the characteristics of the business cycle in the Jeju region were as follows: First, the Jeju region, which is likely to have a growth component of the economy such as technological development and the accumulation of capital, was projected to have a possibility of high growth due to a greater proportion of the stochastic trend factor(46.8%) than the entire country(27.8%). Secondly, employment fluctuation in Jeju, which varies from 0.007 to 0.058 depending on the model, was lowest compared to the fluctuation of other indicators. The employment market in Jeju remained firm, showing that it is not smooth enough to create new jobs despite the production growth in industry. Third, the tourism industry was acting as a stabilizing factor, whereas the mining and manufacturing production was the opposite of tourism industry. This implies that the mining and manufacturing production was based on a weak foundation.

  • During the six years from 2006 to 2011, based on a study of projects with an area equivalent to or less than $2,700m^2$ located in Jeju self-governing province, it was shown, through comparison with the pre-existing calculation methods, that there were many problems with the application of the standard cost. Accounting for the uniqueness of Jeju province, the study suggested an alternative method for applying the standard cost, basing it on property usage of either urban area or non-urban area pursuant to the National Land Planning and Utilization Act rather than land type of either mountain area or non-mountain area, with the utilization of T-test and ANOVA raising the reliability of this study.
