  • In this paper, we introduce Quality of Service(QoS) analytic model of a distributed system that decentralizes the process nodes performing each task and communicates through a network for cooperation. The model advances a service reliability model of Dai et a1.(2003) by means of considering the processing time. The service is assumed to be provided by a centralized heterogeneous distributed system which is composed of some subsystems managed by a control center. The QoS is defined as the probability that a service is provided successfully in an allowed time, we consider the hardware/software reliability and the processing time which include program execution time, data transfer time. We derive the processing time distribution for a required service through convolution of corresponding probability density function. An application example is used to explain the procedure of computing quality of service.

  • A common problem encountered in product or process design is the selection of optimal parameter levels which involves simultaneous consideration of multiple response variables. This is called a multiresponse problem. A multiresponse problem is solved through three major stages: data collection, model building, and optimization. Up to date, various methods have been proposed for the optimization, including the desirability function approach and loss function approach. In this paper, the existing studies in multiresponse optimization are reviewed and a future research direction is then proposed.

  • RAM(Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) is one of the important indicators to show the performance of weapon systems. For analyzing RAM characteristics, RAM simulation is useful and powerful as mathematical techniques. However, it is necessary to build the simulation model to express about the operation environment of weapon systems, and obtain detail input data for reliability and maintainability about the system to get accurate results by RAM simulation. In this paper, we propose a procedure to analyze RAM of the searching system consisting in weapon systems by RAM simulation and we estimate searching system availability by a commercial simulation program, AvSim.

  • We study on the Influence of Business Performance by the Defense Quality Management System(DQMS). In this paper, we establish the 7 hypothesis which is as following that Motivation of DQMS certificate and CEO leadership of DQMS certificate will affect the DQMS, DQMS will affect on Quality performance and Customer performance, Quality performance will affect on Customer performance, each of Quality performance and Customer performance will affect Business Performance. By empirical study, we prove all hypothesis is accepted. We hope this result to improve performance and DQMS of corporate which try to take DQMS certificate.

  • The purpose of this research is to understand users' information protection behavior on personal information security from health psychology theory perspectives. Empirical results indicate that users' information protection behavior on personal information is predicted by perceived threat and perceived responsiveness. Perceived threat is determined by perceived susceptibility and perceived severity. Perceived responsiveness is determined by response efficacy and self-efficacy, but response cost is not significant. These findings provide an enriched understanding about users' information protection behavior on personal information security.

  • Purpose: The objective of this paper was to analyze the requirements of the end-users by class after carrying out a survey on the user requirements for sleeping bags and utilize the result for effective product development. Methods: The test for difference in means by class was conducted through one sample analysis and one-way ANOVA after the survey result has gone through a reliability verification, and an LSD (Least Significant Difference) test was conducted as a post-mortem method. Results: A significant result was derived from the survey on the user requirements for sleeping bags by method of use, use of combination of sleeping bag components or a sleeping bag alone. Conclusion: The significant result derived from the survey of this paper on the user requirements for sleeping bags can be utilized for effective development of sleeping bags.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of the productivity innovation partnership program and propose the method for improvement. We investigated 90 companies which are sub-contractors of Samsung Electronics, LG electronics, POSCO and so on. Methods: We developed and carried out a survey and analyzed the results of the program. The interviews are also performed. Results: This study shows that the partnership program is a effective method for improving quality and productivity of sub-contractors and it is necessary to extend coverage of this program. Conclusion: We suggested some improvement points of the partnership program and they are to be applied in the next year. The results show that the suggestion is helpful and valuable.

  • Purpose: To reinforce the product competitiveness of Korean small and medium-sized business in the world market. Methods: By clarifying the definition of a masterpiece, developing global masterpiece quality index(MQI) equipped with checklists, surveying several companies and customers, and analyzing the results of the survey via the MQ zone diagram. Results: The results of the survey show the gap between Korean small and medium-sized business and global masterpiece companies in terms of MQI. From this analysis, in order for the surveyed Korean companies to be the world-class ones, the managerial aspects to be improved could be clearly pointed out through the measurement indices. Conclusion: This research would provide Korean small and medium-sized companies, which wish to get on the global masterpiece level, with an objective guideline.

  • Purpose: This paper explains how to obtain the Bayes estimates of the whole launch vehicle and of a vehicle stage, respectively, for a newly developed expendable launch vehicle. Methods: We determine the parameters of the beta prior distribution using the upper bound of the 60% Clopper-Pearson confidence interval of failure probability which is calculated from previous launch data considering the experience of the developer. Results: Probability that a launch vehicle developed from an inexperienced developer succeeds in the first launch is obtained by about one third, which is much smaller than that estimated from the previous research. Conclusion: The proposed approach provides a more conservative estimate than the previous noninformative prior, which is more reasonable especially for the initial reliability of a new vehicle which is developed by an inexperienced developer.
