  • In practical engineering, the uncertain concept plays an important role in the control problems of the vibration structures. In this paper, based on matrix perturbation theory and interval finite element method, the closed-loop vibration control system with uncertain parameters is discussed. A new method is presented to develop an algorithm to estimate the upper and lower bounds of the real parts and imaginary parts of the complex eigenvalues of vibration control systems. The results are derived in terms of physical parameters. The present method is implemented for a vibration control system of the frame structure. To show the validity and effectiveness, we compare the numerical results obtained by the present method with those obtained by the classical random perturbation.

  • In this paper, we design an observer-based $H_{\infty}$ fuzzy controller for interval type-2 Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems under imperfect premise matching. The designed observer-based controller can effectively estimate the state of the system and make fuzzy system satisfy the $H_{\infty}$ disturbance attenuation performance. Using the slack matrix, the derived stabilization condition is expressed in terms of a linear matrix inequality. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through a simulation example.

  • This paper investigates the approximate solution bounds of radon diffusion equation in soil pore matrix coupled with uncertainty. These problems have been modeled by few researchers by considering the parameters as crisp, which may not give the correct essence of the uncertainty. Here, the interval uncertainties are handled by parametric form and solution of the relevant uncertain diffusion equation is found by using Galerkin's Method. The shape functions are taken as the linear combination of orthogonal polynomials which are generated based on the parametric form of the interval uncertainty. Uncertain bounds are computed and results are compared in special cases viz. with the crisp solution.

  • This paper describes an improved Prony method in its speed, accuracy and reliability by efficiently determining the optimal sampling interval with use of DFT (discrete Fourier transformation). In the Prony method the computation time is dominated by the size of the linear prediction matrix, which is given by the number of data times the modeling order The size of the matrix in a general Prony method becomes large because of large number of data and so does the computation time. It is found that the Prony method produces satisfactory results when SNR is greater than three. The maximum sampling interval resulting minimum computation time is determined using the fact that the spectrum in DFT is inversely proportional to sampling interval. Also the process of computing the modes is made efficient by applying Hessenberg method to the companion matrix with complex shift and computing selectively only the dominant modes of interest. The proposed method is tested against the 2003 KEPCO system and found to be efficient and reliable. The proposed method may play a key role in monitoring in real time low frequency oscillations of power systems .

  • Every mechanical component is fabricated with the variations in its size and shape, and the allowable range of the variation is specified by the tolerance in the design stage. Geometric tolerances specify the size or the thickness of each shape entity itself or its relative position and orientation with respect to datums. Since the range of shape variation can be represented by the variation of the coordinate system attached to the shape, the transformation matrix of the coordinate system would mathematically express the range of shape variation if the interval numbers are inserted for the elements of the transformation matrix. For the shape entity specified by the geometric tolerance with reference to datums, its range of variation can be also derived by propagating the transformation matrices composed of interval numbers. The propagation depends upon the order of precedence of datums.

  • We consider obtaining graphical summaries of uncertainty in estimates of parameters in nonlinear models. A nonlinear constrained optimization algorithm is developed for likelihood based confidence intervals for the functions of parameters in the model The results are applied to the problem of finding significance levels in nonlinear models.

  • In this paper, we consider the stability of linear systems with an interval time-varying delay. It is known that the adoption of decomposition of delay improves the stability result. For the interval time-delay case, they applied it to the interval of time-delay and got less conservative results. Our basic idea is to apply the general decomposition to the low limit of delay as well as interval of time-delay. Based on this idea, by using the modified Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and newly derived Lemma, we present a less conservative stability criterion expressed as in the form of linear matrix inequality(LMI). Finally, we show, by well-known two examples, that our result is less conservative than the recent results.

  • The present paper suggests a method to estimate confidence interval using SV(Support Vector) in LS-SVM(Least-Squares Support Vector Machine). To get the proposed method we used the fact that the values of the hessian matrix obtained by full data set and SV are not different significantly. Since the suggested method implement only SV, a part of full data, we can save computing time and memory space. Through simulation study we justified the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose the method that improve the performance of the Mowse. Mowse is the tool of the peptide mass fingerprinting that is used the identification of protein. In Mowse, frequency factor matrix is generated to regular interval for protein and peptide mass and the value of each elements is calculated to frequency of peptide. We propose new method for calculation of exact scoring value maintaining same size of matrix. The proposed method is that decide interval of matrix considering distribution of protein database. That is, interval of matrix is decided to small in many value of protein mass and is decided to large in few value of protein mass. We present the performance result both Mowse scoring method and the proposed scoring method.

  • An OFDM system may be a good candidate for a next-generation wireless communication system which requires high-speed and high-rate data transmission. In OFDM systems, guard intervals are inserted to mitigate the effects of ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference). But guard interval insertion degrades the system performance from the standpoint of data rate and bandwidth efficiency. In this paper, a new method to improve the performance of an OFDM system without guard interval. First, PIC (Parallel Interference Cancellation) scheme which can reduce ISI by subtracting the estimated multi-path components from the received signal will be considered. And the proposed system with Pseudo-Decorrelator estimates transmitted signals by using the inverse matrix of cross-correlation matrix relating to interference components. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated through computer simulations and compared with that of the PIC system and an OFDM system without guard interval.
