  • The main idea of this paper introduce stochastic structural parameters and random dynamic excitation directly into the dynamic functional variational formulations, and developed the nonlinear dynamic analysis of a stochastic variational principle and the corresponding stochastic finite element method via the weighted residual method and the small parameter perturbation technique. An interpolation method was adopted, which is based on representing the random field in terms of an interpolation rule involving a set of deterministic shape functions. Direct integration Wilson-${\theta}$ Method was adopted to solve finite element equations. Numerical examples are compared with Monte-Carlo simulation method to show that the approaches proposed herein are accurate and effective for the nonlinear dynamic analysis of structures with random parameters.

  • A knock detection circuit that is based on the signal of an accelerometer installed on the engine block of a spark ignition automotive engine has a band-pass filter with a certain frequency as a parameter to be calibrated. A new statistical method for the determination of the frequency which is the most suitable for the knock detection in real-time applications is proposed. The method uses both the cylinder pressure and block vibration signals and is divided into two steps. In both steps, a new recursive trigonometric interpolation method that calculates the frequency contents of the signals is applied. The new trigonometric interpolation method developed in this paper improves the performance of the Discrete Fourier Transformation, allowing a flexible choice of the size of the moving window. In the first step, the frequency contents of the cylinder pressure signal are calculated. The knock is detected in the cylinder of the engine cycle for which at least one value of the maximal amplitudes calculated via the trigonometric interpolation method exceeds a threshold value indicating a considerable amount of oscillations in the pressure signal; this cycle is selected as a knocking cycle. In the second step, the frequency analysis is performed on the block vibration signal for the cycles selected in the previous step. The knock detectability, which is an individual cylinder attribute at a certain frequency, is verified via a statistical hypothesis test for testing the equality of two mean values, i.e. mean values of the amplitudes for knocking and non-knocking cycles. Signal-to-noise ratio is associated in this paper with the value of t-statistic. The frequency with the largest signal-to-noise ratio (the value of t-statistic) is chosen for implementation in the engine knock detection circuit.

  • In this paper we present an error bound for cubic spline approximation of conic section curve. We compare it to the error bound proposed by Floater [1]. The error estimating function proposed in this paper is sharper than Floater's at the mid-point of parameter, which means the overall error bound is sharper than Floater's if the estimating function has the maximum at the midpoint.

  • This paper presents a new method for finding the Block Pulse series coefficients, deriving the Block Pulse integration operational matrices and generalizing the integration operational matrices which are necessary for the control fields using the Block Pulse functions. In order to apply the Block Pulse function technique to the problems of state estimation or parameter identification more efficiently. it is necessary to find the more exact value of the Block Pulse series coefficients and integral operational matrices.

  • The criticality problem in this study is studied with the recently investigated the Anlı-Güngör scattering function. The scattering function depends on the Legendre polynomials as the Mika scattering function, but it includes only one scattering parameter, t, and its orders. Both Mika and Anlı-Güngör scattering are the same for only linear anisotropic scattering. The difference appears for the quadratic scattering and further. The analytical calculations are performed with the HN method, and the numerical results are calculated with Wolfram Mathematica. Interpolation technique in Mathematica is also used to approximate the isotropic scattering results when t parameter goes to zero. Thus, the calculated results could be compared with the literature data for isotropic scattering.

  • The effect of partially restrained(PR) connections and the uncertainties in them on the reliability of steel frames subjected to seismic loading is addressed. A stochastic finite element method(SFEM) is proposed combining the concepts of the response surface method(RSM), the finite element method(FEM), the first-order reliability method (FORM), and the iterative linear interpolation scheme. The behavior of PR connections is captured using moment-relative rotation curves, and is represented by the four-parameter Richard model. For seismic excitation, the loading, unloading, and reloading behavior at PR connections is modeled using moment-relative rotation curves and the Masing rule. The seismic loading is applied in the time domain for realistic representation. The reliability of steel frames in the presence of PR connections is calculated considering all major sources of nonlinearity. The algorithm is clarified with the help of an example.

  • Today CCTV can be come across easily in public institutions, banks and etc. These CCTV plays very important roles for preventing many kinds of crimes and resolving those crime affairs. But in the case of recording a image of a specific person far from the CCTV, the original image needs to be enlarged and recovered in order to identify the person more obviously. The interpolation is usually used for the enlargement and recovery of the image. This interpolation has a certain limitation. As the magnification of enlargement is getting bigger, the quality of the original image can be worse than before. This paper uses FDP(Face Definition Parameter) of MPEG-4 SNHC FBA group and introduces a new algorithm that the face outline of a face image using Vector Descriptor based on the FDP makes possible better image recovery than the known methods until now.

  • As internet spread widely, various service which use the internet have been provided. One of the service is a internet phone. Its usage is increasing by the advantage of cost. But it has a falling off in quality of speech. because it use packet switching method while existing telephone use circuit switching method. Although vocoder use PLC (Packet Loss Concealment) algorithm, it has a weakness of continuous packet loss. In this paper, we propose methods to improve a lowering in quality of speech under continuous loss of packet by using PLC algorithm used in advanced G.729 and G.711. The proposed methods are LP (Linear Prediction) parameter interpolation, excitation signal reconstruction and excitation signal gain reconstruction. As a result, the proposed method shows superior performance about 11%.

  • Recently operation and maintenance cost of gas turbine engines has been issued as a major parameter in terms of designing and manufacturing. Accordingly, the conception that the maintenance and repair of an engine has to be conducted in assembled condition has been spreaded out. However, it is possible only if the prediction of the engine performance is clearly identified. In this study, therefore, a diagnostic code of the engine performance has been developed by using GPA(Gas Path Analysis) and Fuzzy Logic which can analyze the engine performance and estimate the health parameters. The prediction of the quantitative performance deterioration of the established model of the turbo-shaft engine for SUAV has been achieved in a satisfied level compared to that obtained by GSP code.
