  • In electrical impedance tomography (EIT), various image reconstruction algorithms have been used in order to compute the internal resistivity distribution of the unknown object with its electric potential data at the boundary. Mathematically, the EIT image reconstruction algorithm is a nonlinear ill-posed inverse problem. This paper presents a simulated annealing technique as a statistical reconstruction algorithm for the solution of the static EIT inverse problem. Computer simulations with 32 channels synthetic data show that the spatial resolution of reconstructed images by the proposed scheme is improved as compared to that of the mNR algorithm at the expense of increased computational burden.

  • Electrical impedance tomography(EIT) is a relatively new imaging modality in which the internal impedivity distribution is reconstructed based on the known sets of injected currents and measured voltages on the surface of the object. In this paper, an effective dynamic EIT imaging scheme is presented based on the projection filtering to estimate the unknown resistivity distribution. In particular, pre-integration (pre-grouping) technique is employed to stabilize the inverse algorithm. We carried out computer simulations with synthetic data to illustrate the reconstruction performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • Dye-sensitized solar cell using transparent conducting oxide as electrode has large resistance such as surface resistance, charge transportation impedance in counter electrode and electrolyte, impedance between each interface. Among that resistances, surface resistance of transparent conducting oxide is relatively large. So the change of transparency has a large effect on internal resistance of dye-sensitized solar cell. Consequently, that change cause to increase or decrease the conversion efficiency. We tried to reduce the surface resistance by laser-scribing. The active area is seperated from total transparent conducting oxide by Nd:YAG laser-scribing. As a result, we achieved the improvement of efficiency about 7% and 11% in case of $0.25cm^2$ and $1.00cm^2$ dye-sensitized solar cells.

  • A case study of an active transmitting patch antenna revealed a characteristic loop locus of DC power versus RF output power as drive frequency was varied, with an operational bandwidth substantially smaller than the impedance bandwidth of the radiator. An approximate simulation technique, based on separation of the output capacitance of the power transistor, yielded easily visualized plots of power dependence on internal load impedance, and a simple interpretation of the experimental results in terms of a near-resonance condition between the output capacitance and output packaging inductance.

  • Battery is one of the emergency power. Battery reliability is a very important to keep up the minimum of building capabilities in case of interruption of electric power. Instantaneous discharge test is carried out for measuring transient voltage change(${\Delta}V$) and internal instantaneous impedance(Z), and then it is compared with discharge test results for the estimating the battery capacity. As a result, it was confirmed that the voltage change(${\Delta}V$) and the instantaneous impedance of the batteries failed in actual discharge test were higher that those of the sound batteries. Such an instantaneous discharge test can be a diagnosis of battery sound.

  • This paper proposes a performance improvement of synchronous generator using exciter control with field coils parameter estimation technique. In general, the generator excitation system controller uses the PID controller. When the Field winding impedance changed, the PID gains must be changed. General method is difficult to apply varying capacity of the synchronous generator. The proposed control method determine automatically measure the internal impedance of the synchronous generator's exciter and configure the controller. This method can be applied regardless of the generator capacity. So it is possible to apply a variety of synchronous generator systems. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulations and experiments.

  • Since many typical 2.5 Gbps optical transmitter modules use a 50$\Omega$ characteristic impedance, they require relatively high voltage and high power sources compared to the 25$\Omega$ module. However, simple replacement of the 50$\Omega$ internal matching impedance with 25$\Omega$ results in bandwidth reduction and consequent problem of data transmitter module is proposed in order to expand the modulator bandwidth. From the calculated resutls based on accurate 3-dimensional inductance analysis, we have found that the series parasitic inductance is a dominant element limiting the bandwidth and the insertion of a 2.5pF capacitor in parallel to the 20$\Omega$ matching resiter can increase the 3 dB bandwidth about 1.4GHz wider. The time-domain results show the rise time (140 psec) without the compensation is greatly improved to 63 psec with the compensation. This capacitive ocmpensation can be implemented easily and be compatible with common manufacturing process of the optical transmitter module.

  • Precise prediction of resonance frequency has been the subject of numerous papers related to Helmholtz resonator design because of its high performance at the frequency. The resonance frequency is dependent upon not only the internal dimensions of resonator but also the external boundary conditions such as the existence of other resonators in Helmholtz resonator array panel. However, the latter effect, which changes the external end correction of resonator, has not been well studied. We propose a formula to calculate the radiation impedance (or external end correction) of Helmhoitz resonator array panel. Any distance between adjacent resonators and any angle of Incidence can be allowed in the method. Numerical examples show how and how much the distance affects the resonance frequency of the panel. It is also found that the maximum absorption of the panel varies with the resonator arrangement.

  • In electrical impedance tomography(EIT), various image reconstruction algorithms have been used in order to compute the internal resistivity distribution of the unknown object with its electric potential data at the boundary. Mathematically the EIT image reconstruction algorithm is a nonlinear ill-posed inverse problem. This paper presents two intelligent optimization algorithm techniques such as genetic algorithm and simulated annealing for the solution of the static EIT inverse problem. We summarize the simulation results for the three algorithm forms: modified Newton-Raphson, genetic algorithm, and simulated annealing.
