Background and objective: The concept of 'money' in the numbers and operations domain is a fundamentally necessary domain of economic life. This study was conducted to examine the effects of a horticulture-mathematics integration program on mathematical attitude and money calculating ability of high school students with intellectual disabilities. Methods: We analyzed the changes in the mathematical attitude and money calculating ability of students with mild intellectual disabilities in S special school in the city of D, Republic of Korea, with 12 students in the control group and 12 students in the experimental group, from August 27 to October 29, 2019. Results: The results of the comparison showed no statistically significant changes in the three items of mathematical attitude for the control group, while the experimental group, which took part in the horticulture-mathematics integration program, showed statistically significant differences across all three items, such as self-concept about the subject (p = .003), attitude toward the subject (p = .004), and study habit related to the subject (p = .012). The horticulture-mathematics integration program, which was developed by integrating horticultural activities and the mathematics curriculum, used plants and horticultural activities to provide students with positive experiences in mathematics. These included the sense of closeness, curiosity, interest, attention, and enjoyment, leading to positive changes in mathematical attitude. In terms of money calculating ability, both the control group and experimental group showed statistical differences across the three items, but the experimental group showed greater degrees of increase, 15.0 or more, in the scores compared to the control group. Conclusion: These results suggest that utilizing horticultural materials as a part of purchase learning programs with elements of money calculation chapters in the mathematics curriculum could lead to the improvement of students' ability in money calculation. These positive changes are thought to be related to the high degrees of interest in horticulture among students, which led to active participation in the program and enabled the simple and repeated purchase activities in the program to generate positive changes in the money calculation ability of the students.
This research was intended to provide a basic data on the study of utilization of assistive technology to improve vocational ability for people with intellectual disabilities. As this study was literature review, it was analyzed the qualitative level, methodology contents, and general characteristic of a study, related assistive technology application for improvement of vocational ability in people with intellectual disabilities. The results of this study were as follows; Firstly, experimental environments mostly consisted of separated experimental conditions and design employed multiple probe design; Secondly, all of studies were involved in the standard of selection of subjects, but the proportions of study describing the contents related to subjects was low. The proportions of study describing the behavior-control and exterior-variable control method was low; Thirdly, most study evaluated independent variable and presented fidelity of treatment but, the presentation of social validity was proved to be insufficient. In order to effective application of assistive technology in vocational rehabilitation, it is need a evidence that the application of assistive technology is evidence-based practice in vocational rehabilitation. We also need a supplementation between methodology contents and qualitative level of study in more study.
This study aimed to develop a music teaching-learning program for secondary students with intellectual disabilities in special education settings based on music therapy approach. Designed lesson plans included three learning domains based on the guidelines from 2008 amendments to the special education music curriculum: Perception, expression, and appreciation. Within the domains, instruction topics and its corresponding contents were re-structured as considered more appropriate and effective for implementing music classes for this population. With consideration of therapeutic goals as well as educational goals, student activities and teacher activities were designed and the activities were presented at three levels depending on students' functional levels. Integrating these instructional components into an actual plan, this study presented yearly (for 20 hours of classes) and monthly lesson plans. The developed lesson plans were reviewed and verified by related professionals including special class teachers and music therapists. As systematic and well-organized lesson plans, the results from this study would provide basic music education resources for students with intellectual disabilities in special education settings. It would also enable the discussion on the music therapy-based teaching-learning program as new methodological and strategic ideas applicable to future special education.

People with intellectual disabilities (ID) usually have poor oral health status and are susceptive to have more caries than general populations. Even when the patients get regular dental treatment, their dental conditions are usually not good for some additional factors. In this presentation, we show dental follow-up care of two patients who have multiple caries. The first case is a 16-year-old boy who has a unilateral facial paralysis with ID. As the lack of controlling of the muscles resulted in interfering with the self-cleansing, it would be associated with a higher incidence on the affected side. Endodontic treatment and caries treatment as restoration was performed. Due to loss of posterior occlusal support on right side, we planned to recover the right posterior relationship by full coverage restorations. In second case, a 20-year-old boy has been on a long-term follow up. Caries treatment, periodontal treatment, and prosthetic treatment were performed under several times of general anesthesia. He has been treated more than 8 years and gets a regular check at 1-month intervals, however, high dental caries susceptibility has been retained. These cases present that dentists should perform more aggressive treatment and be involved in providing better maintenance of patients with intellectual disabilities with multiple caries in adolescence. In other words, it is necessary to suggest a customized preventive strategy for patients with ID.
This study analyzed the use of expert reports in the investigations and trials of cases of sexual violence against people with intellectual disabilities. A total of 670 alleged sexual assault cases against victims with intellectual disabilities were analyzed. Results showed that 97.5% of the cases included at least one expert report. In most cases(91%), the expert reports of statement validity assessment were included. Additionally, doctor's note (41.1%) from obstetricians and Psychiatrists, intermediary reports(36%), and expert witnesses(psychologists') reports (9.5%) were included. In 80 cases (44.4%) of the 180 cases in which a victim' statement credibility was in question during the trial, judges cited the expert's reports of statement validity assessment as the basis for the judgment on the reliability of the victims' accusation. The frequency of citing the report was higher when the victim was under the age of 13, or when the defendant was found guilty. Regrading the report content, the evaluations of criteria-based content analysis(CBCA) was most frequently cited, while the victim's psychological status, cognitive limitation, as well as possibile contamination of victim's account, were also mentioned in the ruling statements. Results showed agreement between experts' statement validity assessments and judges' determinations in 79 cases out of the 80 cases Finally, this study discussed ways to utilize expert options.

Objective : This study aims to figure out the effect that sensory integration group therapy has on the fine motor, social interaction and playfulness of preschool children with intellectual disability. Methods : Participants were four children from three to five years old who were diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and they participated in twelve sessions of sensory integration group therapy, sixty minutes per session and once a week. Sensory integration group therapy was composed of parallel and peer play-centered gross motor activities, art activities and sensory plays that were related to each theme. Erhardt Developmental Prehension Assessment (EDPA), Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale (PIPPS) and Test of Playfulness (ToP) were used to evaluate participants' fine motor, social interaction and playfulness before and after the intervention. Results of fine motor, social interaction and playfulness before and after the intervention were compared using Wilcoxon matched-pair signed rank test. Results : After sensory integration group therapy intervention, the fine motor skills of participants did not show significant increases, but social interaction and playfulness showed significant increases (p< .05). Conclusion : Although sensory integration group therapy with preschool children with intellectual disability did not show positive improvement in fine motor skills, it showed positive effect on social interaction and playfulness. Group sensory integration therapy might be an intervention approach for all children with disabilities.
This study analyzed the effect of self-determination of the intellectually disabled on the quality of life, focusing on the effect of controlling family functions, with the intellectually disabled as the subject of the study. In order to achieve this goal, it was designated as an intellectual disabled person at the early age of 18 to 25 who were diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, and it was selected as a disabled person living in the community, and it selected major welfare institutions that were most frequently used by people with intellectual disabilities in the early age of 20 years, considering the difficulties of conducting the survey. The research results are as follows. First, "self-determination, psychological capacity, and self-realization" of the intellectually disabled were found to affect the quality of life (physical well-being, physical well-being, social well-being, productive activities and development, psychological and emotional well-being). Second, differences in "self-determination (self-reliance, psychological capacity, self-realization)" did not occur in accordance with the "population statistical. Third, differences occurred in the "quality of life (physical well-being, physical well-being, social well-being, productive activities and development, psychological and emotional well-being" of the intellectually disabled. Fourth, the relationship between "self-determination" and "quality of life" of the intellectually disabled resulted in the adjustment effect of family functions. This study is meaningful in that it demonstrated the service practice that should be provided to people with early adult intellectual disabilities in the field of practice by verifying the relationship between self-determination, family function and quality of life viewed from the perspective of the parties.
This study was to examine the effects of individual and environmental character among adults with intellectual disabilities on self-determination and to address issue of self determination in practical terms. This study was analyzed by the Structural Equations Models with 219 individuals with intellectual disabilities in residential home in the Metropolitan area, the Yeongnam area, the Honam area. The results showed that individual factors such as adaptive behavior and provider-user relationship recognition, and environmental factors such as institution size and institution location were directly affected to the self-determination of them. The opportunity was a full mediating effect in this process. In conclusion, this study stated how importance of the consumerism. Also it was suggested that some practical strategies to improve their self-determination in changing residential environment and support methods of the service in way to emphasis their opportunities.
The subjects of this study were 10th grade students and 10 non-disabled students. For statistical programs, data were processed using SPSS Windows 25.0, and the statistical method used in the study was to calculate the mean and standard deviation of physical fitness factors and body mass index to determine the health and obesity of students with intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. In addition, this study was conducted using the independent sample t-test to identify the differences in health fitness and obesity between intellectually and non-disabled students. The statistical significance level of the study was set at p <.05, and the results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences in cardiopulmonary endurance, flexibility, muscle strength, muscle endurance, and responsiveness between middle and high school students with intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. In the case of obesity, intellectually and non-disabled students were significantly different.
