Pressure Contact Interconnection for High Reliability Medium Power Integrated Power Electronic Modules

  • This paper presents a novel spring pressure contact interconnect technique for medium power integrated power electronics modules (IPEMs). The key technology of this interconnection is a spring which is made from Be-Cu alloy. By means of the string pressure contact, sufficient press-contact force and good electrical interconnection can be achieved. Another important advantage is that the spring exhibits excellent performance in enduring thermo-mechanical stress. In terms of manufacture procedure, it is also comparatively simple. A 4 kW half-bridge power inverter module is fabricated to demonstrate the performance of the proposed pressure contact technique. Electrical, thermal and mechanical test results of the packaged device are reported. The results of both the simulation and experiment have proven that a good performance can be achieved by the proposed pressure contact technique for the medium power IPEMs.

High-Frequency Modeling and Optimization of E/O Response and Reflection Characteristics of 40 Gb/s EML Module for Optical Transmitters

  • A complete high-frequency small-signal circuit model of a 40 Gb/s butterfly electroabsorption modulator integrated laser module is presented for the first time to analyze and optimize its electro-optic (E/O) response and reflection characteristics. An agreement between measured and simulated results demonstrates the accuracy and validity of the procedures. By optimizing the bonding wire length and the impedance of the coplanar waveguide transmission lines, the E/O response increases approximately 5% to 15% from 20 GHz to 33 GHz, while the signal injection efficiency increases from approximately 15% to 25% over 18 GHz to 35 GHz.

  • 아날로그 집적회로 설계 자동화를 위한 레이아웃 자동화 도구를 제안하였다. 구현된 시스템은 완전 주문형 방식을 채택하고 아날로그 레이아웃의 제약 조건을 고려하였다. 기존의 아날로그 레이아웃 자동화 도구들이 가지고 있는 단점을 보완하기 위하여 변수화된 모듈 라이브러리를 개발, 복잡한 아날로그 모듈들의 레이아웃을 지원하여 확장성을 극대화하였다. 또한 배선 과정에는 기존의 디크스트라 알고리즘을 개선한 종적 다중 경로 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 구현된 아날로그 레이아웃 자동화 도구는 비교기, 연산증폭기 그리고 필터등의 시험회로를 대상으로 시험 수행하였다. 기존의 자동화 도구인 OPASYN과 비교하여 웰 합병과 인터디지트형의 모듈로 레이아웃이 수행된 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • This paper proposes a novel switching method of active clamp snubber for efficiency improvement of PV module integrated converter(MIC) system. Recently, MIC solar system is researched about the efficiency and safety. PV MIC system is used active clamp method of snubber circuit for the price and reliability of the system. But active clamp snubber circuit has the disadvantage that system efficiency is decreased for switch operating time because of heat loss of resonant between snubber capacitor and leakage inductance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel switching method of the active clamp. The proposed method is a technique to reduce power consumption by reducing the resonance of the snubber switch operation time and through simulations and experiments proved the validity.

  • Recently, there are lots of concerning on the control of multi-agent control system and mixed reality integrating real and virtual environments. In this paper, an integrated agent control system based on mixed reality and mobile environment is proposed. The system consists of a manager, agents, a mapping module, a geographic information module, a WAP server, and a mobile manager. The manager has Hybrid Device Manager(HDM) working for revising images and position data of the agents to display that at the 3D virtual and mobile environments respectively. Especially, the images of the agent is translated to LBM format and displayed on the mobile phone, and the current position of the agent is displayed on the display screen, so that a user are able to control the agent when he is moving. Experimental results shows the proposed system lets us control the agents conveniently at a computer and a mobile phone.

  • 본 논문에서는 IEC 61850 및 IEEE c37.238 표준 기반 정밀 시각 동기 적용 HW/SW 통합 플랫폼을 통한 미래 전력시스템 보호 기술을 제시하였다. 제시한 통합 플랫폼의 구현 성능을 확인하기 위해 표준에서 요구하는 시각 동기의 정밀성과 지연 시간을 만족하도록 하는 EVM(Evaluation Module) 예제를 구성하였다. 이를 실제 EVM과 네트워크 스위치로 이루어진 형태로 구현하여 동작 시험을 수행하였고, 본 논문에서 제시한 플랫폼이 시각 동기 표준에서 요구하는 수준의 시각 동기 오차와 전력시스템 보호에서 요구하는 수준의 지연 시간을 만족하는 미래 전력시스템 통합 IED(Intelligent Electronic Device) HW/SW 기술임을 확인하였다.

건물 부착형 고경량 유연성 슁글드 태양광 모듈 (Fabrication of Lightweight Flexible c-Si Shingled Photovoltaic Modules for Building-Applied Photovoltaics)

  • Lightweight and flexible photovoltaic (PV) modules are attractive for building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) applications because of their easy construction and applicability. In this study, we fabricated lightweight and flexible c-Si PV modules using ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) front cover and shingled design string cells. The ETFE front cover instead of glass made the PV modules lighter in weight, and the shingled design string cells increased the flexibility. Finally, we fabricated a PV module with a conversion power of 240.08 W at an area of 1.25 m2 and weighed only 2 kg/m2. Moreover, to check the PV module's flexibility, we conducted a bending test. The difference of conversion power between the modules before and after bending shown was only 1.7 W, which showed a power reduction rate of about 0.7%.

고기동 환경에 적용 가능한 소형 GPS/MEMS IMU 통합항법 수신모듈 설계 (Design of a Compact GPS/MEMS IMU Integrated Navigation Receiver Module for High Dynamic Environment)

  • 본 논문에서는 높은 동특성 환경에서 동작이 가능한 GPS/MEMS IMU 통합항법 수신모듈을 설계 및 제작하고, 그 결과를 확인하였다. 설계한 모듈은 RF 수신부, 관성측정부, 신호처리부, 상관기, 항법 S/W로 구성된다. RF 수신부는 저잡음증폭, 주파수 변환, 필터링, 자동이득조절 기능을 수행하고, 관성측정부는 3축 자이로스코프, 가속도계, 지자기센서가 적용된 MEMS급 IMU로부터 측정 데이터를 수집하여 항법S/W로 전달하는 인터페이스를 제공한다. 신호처리부 및 상관기는 FPGA 로직으로 구현하여 필터링 및 상관 값 계산을 수행하고, FPGA 내부 CPU를 사용하여 위성항법, 통합항법 S/W를 구현하였다. 제작된 모듈의 크기는 95.0 × 85.0 × 12.5 mm 이고, 무게는 110g을 확인하였으며, 동적성능 1200m/s, 가속도 10g의 환경에서 규격 이내의 항법정확도 성능을 확인하였다.

Statistical Modeling of 3-D Parallel-Plate Embedded Capacitors Using Monte Carlo Simulation

  • Examination of the statistical variation of integrated passive components is crucial for designing and characterizing the performance of multichip module (MCM) substrates. In this paper, the statistical analysis of parallel plate capacitors with gridded plates manufactured in a multilayer low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) process is presented. A set of integrated capacitor structures is fabricated, and their scattering parameters are measured for a range of frequencies from 50 MHz to 5 GHz. Using optimized equivalent circuits obtained from HSPICE, mean and absolute deviation is calculated for each component of each device model. Monte Carlo Analysis for the capacitor structures is then performed using HSPICE. Using a comparison of the Monte Carlo results and measured data, it is determined that even a small number of sample structures, the statistical variation of the component values provides an accurate representation of the overall capacitor performance.

  • PC that has been used extensively since the end of 1970 has extended its applicability to the structural analysis Held, and recently the study for advanced integrated structural design system is increasing. This paper concentrates on the steel greenhouse structure applying light steel element At first it provides GUI for correct input of structured analysis data from the pre-processor which models greenhouse structure and extracts a shape data from an analysis data file. Secondly, the data thus extracted is automatically connected with external analysis module. Thirdly, it takes up the study concequence of integrated structural design system for greenhouse that presents the analysis result as a diagram instead of a number.
