Physical Media Dependent Prototype for 10-Gigabit-Capable PON OLT

  • In this work, we study the physical layer solutions for 10-gigabit-capable passive optical networks (PONs), particularly for an optical link terminal (OLT) including a 10-Gbit/s electroabsorption modulated laser (EML) and a 2.5-Gbit/s burst mode receiver (BM-Rx) in a novel bidirectional optical subassembly (BOSA). As unique features, a bidirectional mini-flat package and a 9-pin TO package are developed for a 10-gigabit-capable PON OLT BOSA composed of a 1,577-nm EML and a 1,270-nm avalanche photodiode BM-Rx, including a single-chip burst mode integrated circuit that is integrated with a transimpedance and limiting amplifier. In the developed prototype, the 10-Gbit/s transmitter and 2.5-Gbit/s receiver characteristics are evaluated and compared with the physical media dependent (PMD) specifications in ITU-T G.987.2 for XG-PON1. By conducting the 10-Gbit/s downstream and 2.5-Gbit/s upstream transmission experiments, we verify that the developed 10-gigabitcapable PON PMD prototype can operate for extended network coverage of up to a 40-km fiber reach.

양상태 소나를 운용하는 자함이 기동하는 구간에서 추적성능향상을 위한 다수모델기반의 자료결합기법 연구 (A study on data association based on multiple model for improving target tracking performance in maneuvering interval in bistatic sonar environments)

  • 송신기와 수신기가 분리되어 있는 양상태 소나를 자함에 설치하여 운용하고 다수의 클러터가 존재하는 환경에서 표적추적을 수행하기 위해서는 양상태 소나에 알맞은 측정치 모델링이 적용된 자료결합 알고리듬이 요구된다. 자함이 기동하는 구간에서는 송신기와 수신기의 위치가 많이 흔들림에 따라 측정치에 오차가 많이 커지게 되어, 이 구간에서 얻은 측정치정보를 이용하면 추적성능저하가 생기게 된다. 본 논문에서는 공정잡음이 다른 다수모델기반의 자료결합 알고리듬인 IMM-IPDA(Interacting Multiple Model-Integrated Probabilistic Data Association)를 사용하였고, 몬테칼로 시뮬레이션을 통해 추적성능향상을 확인하였다.

  • For precise positioning, GPS carrier measurements are often used. In this case, accurate position having mm${\sim}$cm error can be obtained. For 3D positioning, in CDGPS, more than five carrier phase measurements are required. When GPS signals are blocked or carrier phase measurements are insufficient, it cannot provide positioning solution. By integrating CDGPS with INS, continuity of positioning solution can be guaranteed. However, when a vehicle moves in low speed or in stationary, the CDGPS/INS integrated system is difficult to compensate INS attitude errors because GPS velocity error become relatively lange. In this paper, we used the 3D attitude GPS receiver to compensate the INS attitude error. By field experiments, it is shown that the proposed integration system maintains the navigation performance even when a vehicle is in low speed or GPS signal is blocked for a period of time.

A Fully-Integrated Low Power K-band Radar Transceiver in 130nm CMOS Technology

  • A fully-integrated low power K-band radar transceiver in 130 nm CMOS process is presented. It consists of a low-noise amplifier (LNA), a down-conversion mixer, a power amplifier (PA), and a frequency synthesizer with injection locked buffer for driving mixer and PA. The receiver front-end provides a conversion gain of 19 dB. The LNA achieves a power gain of 15 dB and noise figure of 5.4 dB, and the PA has an output power of 9 dBm. The phase noise of VCO is -90 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset. The total dc power dissipation of the transceiver is 142 mW and the size of the chip is only $1.2{\times}1.4mm^2$.

  • GPS Receiver gives pseudorange Doppler and integrated carrier phase for measurements to compute navigation information. Thought the integrated carrier phase can be transfer to the equal domain as pseudorange by multiplying the wave length of the received signal, in order to get position information from the carrier phase measurements the integer ambiguity should be resolved. And differencing technique is generally used to eliminate the common error terms of the integrated carrier phase measurements between robber and server. In short baseline double-differencing operation has effect on elimination the common biases for both stations and thus ambiguity resolution are to be reliable.   • In the guided missile and unmanned vehicle system, the navigation system is one of the most important components. Recently, low-cost effective smart projectiles and guided bomb are being developed using MEMS based navigation system which has high-G, low-cost and small size. In this paper, locally developed MEMS based GPS/INS integrated navigation system will be introduced in comparison with the state of the art of MEMS based navigation system. And technical design and development method is described to satisfy the required performance of GPS receiver, MEMS inertial sensor assembly, navigation computer and software.

  • The Global Positioning System(GPS) and the Strapdown Inertial Navigation System(SDINS) techniques have been widely utilized in many applications. However each system has its own weak point when used in a stand-alone mode. SDINS suffers from fast error accumulation dependent on an operating time while GPS has problem of cycle slips and just provides low update rate. The best solution is to integrate the GPS and SDINS system and its integration allows compensation for each shortcomings. This paper, first, is to define and derive error equations of integrated SDINS/GPS system before it will be applied on a real hardware system with gyro, accelerometer and GPS receiver. Second, the accuracy, availability and performance of this mechanization are verified on the simulation study.

5GHz CMOS Quadrature Up-Conversion Mixer

  • A CMOS quadrature Up-converter for a direct-conversion receiver of 5.15-5.825GHz wireless LAN is described. The Up-converter consists of two sub-harmonic mixers, for I and Q channels, and an LO generation network. In order to decrease the number of inductor, I and Q path are merged. The simulation results including all the parasitics show -17.3dB conversion gain at center and -8 dBv oIP3 while consuming 22.968mW under 1.8V supply. The quadrature Up-converter is under fabrication with the other transmitter blocks in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

  • 이동 통신 및 위성 통신 분야에 있어서 무선 통신 기술 분야는 무선 환경에서 신호를 보내고 받는 기능을 수행하는 중요한 분야이다. 이러한 무선 통신 분야에서 송수신한을 구성하는 송수신 부품은 RF 시스템의 성능을 좌우한다. 따라서 위성 통신 분야에 있어서 신뢰성을 획득하기 위해서는 고집적화와 소형화를 통한 경쟁력 확보가 필수적인데 이를 위한 기술이 MMIC 이다. MMIC란 RF 부품을 설계하고 제작하는 기술로서 본 논문은 MMIC 기술에 대한 소개와 위성 분야에서의 기술적인 동향과 전망을 기술하고 있다.

Double-Loop Coil Design for Wireless Power Transfer to Embedded Sensors on Spindles

  • The major drawbacks of magnetic resonant coupled wireless power transfer (WPT) to the embedded sensors on spindles are transmission instability and low efficiency of the transmission. This paper proposes a novel double-loop coil design for wirelessly charging embedded sensors. Theoretical and finite-element analyses show that the proposed coil has good transmission performance. In addition, the power transmission capability of the double-loop coil can be improved by reducing the radius difference and width difference of the transmitter and receiver. It has been demonstrated by analysis and practical experiments that a magnetic resonant coupled WPT system using the double-loop coil can provide a stable and efficient power transmission to embedded sensors.
