Based on a generalized variational principle for magneto-thermo-elasticity, a theoretical model is proposed to describe the coupled magneto-thermo-elastic interaction in soft ferromagnetic plates. Using the linearized theory of magneto-elasticity and perturbation technique, we analyze the magneto-elastic and magneto-thermo-elastic instability of simply supported ferromagnetic plates subjected to thermal and magnetic fields. A nonlinear finite element procedure is developed next to simulate the magneto-thermo-elastic behavior of a finite-size ferromagnetic plates. The effects of thermal and magnetic fields on the magneto-thermo-elastic bending and buckling is investigated in some detail.
Among the failure modes which can occur in tube hydroforming such as wrinkling, bursting or buckling, the bursting by local instability under excessive tensile stresses is irrecoverable phenomenon. Thus, the accurate prediction of bursting condition plays an important role in producing the successfully hydroformed part without any defects. As the classical forming limit criteria, strain-based forming limit diagram (FLD) has widely used to predict the failure in sheet metal forming. However, it is known that the FLD is extremely dependant on strain path throughout the forming process. Furthermore, The application of FLD to hydroforming process, where strain path is no longer linear throughout forming process, may lead to misunderstanding for fracture initiation. In this work, stress-based forming limit diagram (FLSD), which is strain path-independent and more general, was applied to prediction of forming limit in tube hydroforming. Combined with the analytical FLSD determined from plastic instability theory, finite element analyses were carried out to find out the state of stresses during hydroforming operation, and then FLSD is utilized as forming limit criterion. In addition, the approach is verified by a series of bulge tests in view of bursting pressure and shows a good agreement. Consequently, it is shown that the approach proposed in this paper will provide a feasible method to satisfy the increasing practical demands for judging the forming severity in hydroforming processes.

An analytical study on the thermal instability of fluid in a vertical solt between two permeable walls has been carried out using fast converging power series solution method. For given values of prandtl number Pr and permeability paramter ${\sigma}$, the critical Grashof number $Gr_c$ and the critical wave number ac are found as eigenvalues of the problem formulated by the stability equations and the appropriate boundary conditions which are derived on the basis of linear stability theory. In the case of ${\sigma}\;>\;10^4$, the results approach those of solid boundary case, but in the case of ${\sigma}\;<\;10^3$, the decrease of $Gr_c$ and $a_c$become more prominent. In other words, the permeable walls cause the flow to be more unstable than the solid walls. This is considered to be due to the slip of the fluid on the wail, which decrease the friction force.

The present study focuses on the effect of extension-bending coupling on the elastic stability (buckling) of laminated composite plates. These plates will be loaded under uni-axial or bi-axial in-plane mechanical loads, especially in the orthotropic or anti-symmetric cross-angle cases. The main objective is to find a limit where we can approximate the elastic stability behavior of angularly crossed anti-symmetric plates by the simple behavior of specially orthotropic plates. The contribution of my present study is to predict the explicit effect of extension-flexion coupling on the elastic stability of this type of panel. Critically, a parametric study is carried out, involving the search for the critical buckling load as a function of deformation mode, aspect ratio, plate anisotropy ratio and finally the study of the effect of lamination angle and number of layers on the contribution of extension-flexure coupling in terms of plate buckling stability. We use first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) with a correction factor of 5/6. Simply supported conditions along the four boundaries are adopted where we can develop closed-form analytical solutions obtained by a Navier development.
The study of seepage behavior is very important to slope stability of road landfill for heavy rainfall season. This study is done to propose more stable of road landfill based on analysis of seepage behavior and slope stability for some cases of road landfill. The selected sections of collapsed road landfill are most general case of road landfill, a case is landfill on the ground area and another case is on the slope area. The results of this study is summarized as follows. It is founded that the road landfill on the ground area is increased saturation region due to rainfall infiltration, and the seepage behavior of road landfill is solved by theory of unsaturated flow. The road landfill is more unstable due to rainfall infiltration at the slope surface, especially during heavy rainfall. The case of road landfill on the slope area is analyzed in consideration of slope surface infiltration, and it is founded that the slope instability is increased because of rainfall infiltration. The drain layer located on the original ground which made by more permeable materials could be good action of slope stability in the case of road landfill on the slope area.

The wave motion inside the nozzle is known as one of the major damping elements of the rocket's combustion instability by it's aeroacoustic effects that result from the flow passage through the nozzle throat. These effects can be quantitatively evaluated by the nozzle admittance. In this study, one-dimensional linearized Euler equation was adopted to calculate the nozzle admittance, and trend analysis was performed depending on the nozzle's main design variables. As a result, when nozzle converging part shortens, it is verified that the frequency dependency of the nozzle admittance is decreased due to the widened frequency range with lowered longitudinal nozzle admittance. Also, admittance estimation using the short nozzle theory is not appropriate when the first tangential mode of the pressure perturbation arises.
Many researcher's efforts have made a significant advancement of space frame structure with various portion, and it becomes the most outsanding one of space structures. However, with the characteristics of thin and long term of spacing, the unstable behavior of space structure is shown by initial imperfection, erection procedure or joint, especially space frame structure represents more. This kind of unstable problem could not be set up clearly and there is a huge difference between theory and experiment. Moreover, the discrete structure such as space frame has more complex solution, this it is not easy to derive the formulation of design about space structure. In this space frame structure, the character of rise-span ratio or load mode is represented by the instability of space frame structure with initial imperfection, and snap-through or bifurcation might be the main phenomenon. Therefore, in this study, space frame structure which has a lot of aesthetic effect and profitable for large space covering single layer is dealt. And because that the unstable behavior due to variation of inner force resistance in the elastic range is very important collapse mechanism, I would like to investigate unstable character as a nonlinear behavior with a geometric nonlinear. In order to study the instability. I derive tangent stiffness matrix using finite element method and with displacement incremental method perform nonlinear analysis of unit space structure, star dome and 3-ring star dome considering rise-span $ratio(\mu}$ and load $ratio(R_L)$ for analyzing unstable phenomenon.

This study considers the instability behavior of sandwich plates considering magnetorheological (MR) fluid core and piezoelectric reinforced facesheets. As facesheets at the top and bottom of structure have piezoelectric properties they are subjected to 3D electric field therefore they can be used as actuator and sensor, respectively and in order to control the vibration responses and loss factor of the structure a proportional-derivative (PD) controller is applied. Furthermore, Halpin-Tsai model is used to determine the material properties of facesheets which are reinforced by graphene platelets (GPLs). Moreover, because the core has magnetic property, it is exposed to magnetic field. In addition, Kelvin-Voigt theory is applied to calculate the structural damping of the piezoelectric layers. In order to consider environmental forces applied to structure, the visco-Pasternak model is assumed. In order to consider the mechanical behavior of structure, sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT) is assumed and Hamilton's principle according to piezoelasticity theory is employed to calculate motion equations and these equations are solved based on differential cubature method (DCM) to obtain the vibration and modal loss factor of the structure subsequently. The effect of different factors such as GPLs distribution, dimensions of structure, electro-magnetic field, damping of structure, viscoelastic environment and boundary conditions of the structure on the vibration and loss factor of the system are considered. In order to indicate the accuracy of the obtained results, the results are validated with other published work. It is concluded from results that exposing magnetic field to the MR fluid core has positive effect on the behavior of the system.

This paper deals with the dynamic stability of embedded functionally graded (FG)-carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-reinforced micro cylindrical shells. The structure is subjected to harmonic non-uniform temperature distribution and 2D magnetic field. The CNT reinforcement is either uniformly distributed or FG along the thickness direction where the effective properties of nano-composite structure are estimated through Mixture low. The viscoelastic properties of structure are captured based on the Kelvin-Voigt theory. The surrounding viscoelastic medium is considered nonhomogeneous with the spring, orthotropic shear and damper constants. The material properties of cylindrical shell and the viscoelastic medium constants are assumed temperature-dependent. The first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) or Mindlin theory in conjunction with Hamilton's principle is utilized for deriving the motion equations where the size effects are considered based on Eringen's nonlocal theory. Based on differential quadrature (DQ) and Bolotin methods, the dynamic instability region (DIR) of structure is obtained for different boundary conditions. The effects of different parameters such as volume percent and distribution type of CNTs, mode number, viscoelastic medium type, temperature, boundary conditions, magnetic field, nonlocal parameter and structural damping constant are shown on the DIR of system. Numerical results indicate that the FGX distribution of CNTs is better than other considered cases. In addition, considering structural damping of system reduces the resonance frequency.
