However 5-6 bedrooms have many problems related to inpatient satisfaction and nosocomial diseases. Therefore 4 bedroom is under considering for standard multi-bed room in Public Hospitals in Korea. This paper tries to prove that adoption of 4 bedroom in Public Hospitals has nothing to do with economic loss which is now an obstacle in adopting 4 bedrooms. Methods: 3 Methods have been used in this paper. 1) Comparative analysis between medical insurance fee and service cost for hospitalization has been conducted through literature survey. 2) Scenario analysis has been used for the estimation of inpatient number when 4 bedrooms are adopted in Public Hospitals. 3) Relation analysis between profit and proportion of 4 bedroom in Public Hospitals. Results: Adoption of 4 bedroom as a standard multi-bedroom in Public Hospitals has been proved to have nothing to do with the economic loss of hospitals. Implications: It is necessary to introduce and expand 4 bedrooms instead of 5-6 bedrooms in hospitals for the upgrade of hospital environment and easy control of cross infection in inpatient bedrooms.

Relationship among patients' privacy, patients' stress, and patients' satisfaction were evaluated and were discussed. Survey research followed the literature review, in which the subjects answered questions of the 12 items for the patients' privacy requirements, 10 items selected from the HSRS, and an item of patients' satisfaction. A total of 120 copies were analyzed through the statistical process using the SPSS Win Program 20.0 and SEM by the AMOS 20.0. Results and conclusions are as follows: (1) the inpatients' privacy requirements was subdivided into 'the reserve factor', 'the territoriality factor', and 'the solitude factor'. (2) The inpatients' stress level was subdivided into 'the relationship factor', 'the unfamiliarity factor', and 'the control factor'. (3) The model of relationship among the subjects' privacy requirements, stress level and their satisfaction with the patients' room showed that the subjects' stress level affected their satisfaction with the patients' room directly and the subjects' privacy requirements gave an direct and indirect effect on their' stress level and an indirect effect on their satisfaction with patients' room.

  • Purposes: This study tried to extract variables affecting patient-experience satisfaction level in hospital situation, using a multiple-regression analysis and ISA(Revised Importance-Satisfaction Analysis), and to explore variables needed to be improved. Methodology: A mobile-based online patient-experience survey was conducted in eleven general hospitals in A city. To test the validity of this test, this data was compared with the data from Health-Insturance Review and Assessment Service. Then, the standardized regression coefficients extracted from a multiple-regression analysis were used as the importance scale to be used in ISA. Finding: Taken together, the areas with the highest contribution for the in-hospital patient-experience satisfaction level were medication and treatment process and hospital environment. In conclusion, the revised ISA which can show satisfaction and importance both with simultaneously and multi-axis way would be useful in hospital improvement activities. Practical Implications: This study tried to develop a mobile-based patient-experience survey, and to extract the major variables affecting patient-satisfaction level and to identify variables need to be improved. Finally, this should help hostipals to prepare the assessment process with various improvement activities.

  • Objectives: To examine whether the nursing practice environment at the hospital-level affects the job satisfaction and turnover intention of hospital nurses. Methods: Among the 11 731 nurses who participated in the Korea Health and Medical Workers' Union's educational program, 5654 responded to our survey. Data from 3096 nurses working in 185 general inpatient wards at 60 hospitals were analyzed using multilevel logistic regression modeling. Results: Having a standardized nursing process (odds ratio [OR], 4.21; p<0.001), adequate nurse staffing (OR, 4.21; p<0.01), and good doctor-nurse relationship (OR, 4.15; p<0.01), which are hospital-level variables based on the Korean General Inpatients Unit Nursing Work Index (KGU-NWI), were significantly related to nurses' job satisfaction. However, no hospital-level variable from the KGU-NWI was significantly related to nurses' turnover intention. Conclusions: Favorable nursing practice environments are associated with job satisfaction among nurses. In particular, having a standardized nursing process, adequate nurse staffing, and good doctor-nurse relationship were found to positively influence nurses' job satisfaction. However, the nursing practice environment was not related to nurses' turnover intention.

  • The main purpose of this study was to gauge the patient satisfaction index and subsequently discuss the Importance-Performance (IP) matrix analysis of the inpatient services in the context of the private hospital setting. The Malaysian Customer Satisfaction Index Model was employed as the theoretical framework for the above purposes. This study involving 242 patients in Malaysian's private healthcare sector used a Web-based survey as the main method of data collection. Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was utilized for data analysis. Using Fornell et al. (1996)'s formula, the resulting patient satisfaction index was slightly lower than the "very satisfied" category, the target level required for positioning as one of the world's premier medical tourism players. The IP matrix showed that medical quality is the main competitive advantage of the private hospitals that can propel their growth in the global healthcare marketplace. The results also indicate that outcome quality, patient rights, and privacy, and service quality are the three quality domains that need to be prioritized for further improvement. On the other hand, the servicescape quality domain needs to be strategized as the unique selling proposition as the performance of the private hospitals in this regard is already extremely good.
