Although the demand of Variable Message Sign(VMS) has become pervasive in fulfilling the ITS policy, there are still several unsolved problematic issues. The most critical ones of them are inequality and inefficiency of providing traffic information. This paper proposes the Infra-free Variable Message Sign in order to provide useful informations such as road condition, weather, and traffic of the area, where constructing the infrastructure of communication and power supply is relatively very hard. First of all, the characteristics of infra-free Variable Message Sign are studied and analyzed in deep because of differences between normal Variable Message Sign and Infra-free Variable Message Sign in the configuration and the operating method due to the nature of the Infra-free Variable Message Sign. Futhermore, for effective power management of operating Infra-free Variable Message Sign with limited power acquired through stand-alone PV system, new battery connection structure and dynamically variable power managements for the differently shown messages on Variable Message Sign are proposed. The proposed structure in this paper can be applied to not only power management for Infra-free Variable Message Sign but also power management for the various applications using parallel connection battery system.
Broadband Convergence Network(BcN) is a critical infrastructure to provide wired-and-wireless high-quality multimedia services by converging communication and broadcasting systems, However, there exist possible danger to spread the damage of an intrusion incident within an individual network to the whole network due to the convergence and newly generated threats according to the advent of various services roaming vertically and horizontally. In order to cope with these new threats, we need to analyze the vulnerabilities of BcN in a system architecture aspect and classify them in a systematic way and to make the results to be utilized in preparing proper countermeasures, In this paper, we propose a new classification of vulnerabilities which has been extended from the ITU-T recommendation X.805, which defines the security related architectural elements. This new classification includes system elements to be protected for each service, possible attack strategies, resulting damage and its criticalness, and effective countermeasures. The new classification method is compared with the existing methods of CVE(Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) and CERT/CC(Computer Emergency Response Team/Coordination Center), and the result of an application to one of typical services, VoIP(Voice over IP) and the development of vulnerability database and its management software tool are presented in the paper. The consequence of the research presented in the paper is expected to contribute to the integration of security knowledge and to the identification of newly required security techniques.

The advancement in technology including transportation and information communication has accelerated the flow of supplies, and the importance of the national logistics policy has increased following the expansion of the regional range of logistics to a national range. The rapid growth of the domestic logistics market results in the deficit of logistics facilities, inefficient operation of logistics facilities, and a complicated distribution structure. It has precipitated a plan aimed at efficiency improvement by building base logistics facilities, but this market is now undergoing difficulties due to low performance. Many studies on the revitalization of base logistics facilities have been conducted, but a causal analysis focusing on the function overlap of private logistics businesses has been absent. Therefore, this study has analyzed the function overlap of logistics facilities and the irrationality of the system, which resulted from the lost function of Inland Freight bases in the Yeongnam region. By suggesting the cause of disuse of base logistics complexes from the function overlap in the ground transportation of domestic freight, the study can provide the policy implication for the national logistics infrastructure.
This study was design to grope the suggestions leading synergic effects by bridging the gap between headquarters and branch office, and so to identify the infra-system of contract foodservice management company (CFMC) necessary for operating any kind of branch office including school, hospital and business and industry (B&I). Among 8 categories consisted of infra-system in CFMC, 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' was the most important category in the headquarter's viewpoint, while 'C3. Sanitation management system' was the most important category in branch office's viewpoint. In support and application, 'C3. Sanitation management system' was the highest category in both headquarters and branch offices including school, hospital and B&I. As a result of analysis on gap between main and branch office in importance, support and application in 8 categories, the efforts of communication and community of perception for infrastructure were needed, because 'C4. Education & training for human resource management (HRM) system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' in importance, 'C2. Menu management system', 'C4. Education & training for HRM system', 'C6. Facility & utility support system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' in support had a gap. Correlation analysis to grasp the relation between importance of infra-system and headquarters' support or branch office's application showed that headquarters's importance and support were correlated positively in 'C3. Sanitation management system', 'C6. Facility & utility support system', 'C7. Customer satisfaction management system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' and branch office's importance and application were correlated positively in 'C1. Procurement & food processing system', 'C5. Management Information system', 'C7. Customer satisfaction management system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation'. Lastly, 'C6. Facility & utility support system' in the branch office of school and hospital and 'C2. Menu management system' in the branch office of B&I were high in importance, low in support and application, therefore Intensive support for these categories was needed. In conclusion, continuous check and improvement for categories, which were identified as an urgent problems to be solved in this study, among infra-structure qualifying for CFMC, would enable contract foodservice industry that has grown quantitatively till now to grow qualitatively.
With the advancement of information and communication technology, tactical networks are continuously being converted to All-IP future tactical networks that integrate all application services based on Internet protocol. Futuristic tactical mesh network is built with tactical WAN (wide area network) nodes that are inter-connected by a mesh structure. In order to guarantee QoS (quality of service) of application services, tactical service mesh (TSM) is suggested as an intermediate layer between infrastructure and application layers for futuristic tactical mesh network. The tactical service mesh requires dynamic QoS monitoring and control for intelligent QoS coordination. However, legacy networking nodes used for existing tactical networks are difficult to support these functionality due to inflexible monitoring support. In order to resolve such matter, we propose a tactical mesh WAN node as a hardware/software co-designed networking node in this paper. The tactical mesh WAN node is conceptually designed to have multi-access networking interfaces and virtualized networking switches by leveraging the DANOS whitebox server/switch. In addition, we explain how to apply eBPF-based traffic monitoring to the tactical mesh WAN node and verify the traffic monitoring feasibility for supporting QoS coordination of tactical-mesh traffic.
In ocean field, the spread of the Fourth Industrial Revolution based on information and communication technology requires high precision and stable PNT&D (Position, Navigation, Timing and Data). As the IMO (International Maritime Organization) and IALA (The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities) are requiring backup systems due to mitigate vulnerabilities and the increase of dependency on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), Korea is conducting a research & development of R-Mode. An DGPS (Differentiate Global Positioning System) reference station that uses MF, an existing maritime infrastructure, and AIS (Automatic Identification System) base stations that use 34 integrity station and VHF will be utilized in this study to avoid redundant investment. Because there are radio shadow areas that display low signal levels in the west sea, the establishment of new R-Mode reference and integrity station will be intended to resolve problems regrading the radio shadow area. Because the frequency has a characteristic in that radio wave transmits well along the ground (water surface) in low frequency band, simulation and measurement were conducted therefore this paper to propose candidate sites for R-Mode reference and integrity station resulted through p wave's propagation characteristics analysis. Using this paper, R-Mode reference and integrity station can be established at appropriate locations to resolve radio shadow areas in other regions.

In recent years, human damage and loss of money due to various disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, forest fires, landslides, and wars are steadily occurring, and a lot of manpower and funds are required to prevent and recover them. In this paper, we designed and developed a disaster drone system based on artificial intelligence in order to monitor these various disaster situations in advance and to quickly recognize and respond to disaster occurrence. In this study, multiple disaster drones are used in areas where it is difficult for humans to monitor, and each drone performs an efficient search with an optimal path by applying a deep learning-based optimal path algorithm. In addition, in order to solve the problem of insufficient battery capacity, which is a fundamental problem of drones, the optimal route of each drone is determined using Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) technology. In order to implement the proposed system, it was applied to a forest fire situation among various disaster situations, and a forest fire map was created based on the transmitted data, and a forest fire map was visually shown to the fire fighters dispatched by a drone equipped with a beam projector. In the proposed system, multiple drones can detect a disaster situation in a short time by simultaneously performing optimal path search and object recognition. Based on this research, it can be used to build disaster drone infrastructure, search for victims (sea, mountain, jungle), self-extinguishing fire using drones, and security drones.

This study aimed to examine the perception and experience of researchers in the field of mechanical engineering on research data creation and management, and suggest implications for research data management and services in the field. Research data management and services of domestic and foreign research institutes were investigated, and in-depth interviews were conducted with researchers belonging to domestic mechanical engineering research institutes to analyze the perception and conduction of research data creation and management according to four major categories: "research data, accountable conducting of research and compliance with research ethics, utility and effectiveness of research data management, and the value of sharing research data." To ensure effective research data management and services in mechanical engineering, it is necessary to conduct a data investigation on the process, type, and form of production to collect explicit metadata and implicit contextual information. It is also necessary to propose a plan to recognize research results using the publication of data journals and to prepare infrastructure such as a cloud-based system that supports safe data management and communication between researchers. In addition, it suggests that it is important for various officials in the research field to allocate roles and responsibilities for research data management and services at the organizational level.

As the development of the underground space becomes active, safety accidents related to the underground are frequently occurring in recent years. In this regard, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is enforcing the 『Special Act on Underground Safety Management』 (enforced on January 1, 2018, hereafter referred to as the Underground Safety Act). Among the core contents of the Underground Safety Act, underground facilities(water supply, sewage, gas, power, communication, heating) buried underground, underground structures(subway, underpass, underpass, underground parking lot, underground shopping mall, common area), ground (Drilling, wells, geology) of 15 types of underground information can be checked at a glance on a three-dimensional basis by constructing an integrated underground spatial map and using it. The purpose of this study is to develop a program that can quickly inspect the three-dimensional model after creating a three-dimensional underground structure data among the underground spatial integration maps. To this end, we first investigated and reviewed the domestic and foreign status of technology that generates and automatically inspects 3D underground structure data. A quality inspection program was developed. Through this study, it is judged that it will be meaningful as a basic research for improving the quality of underground structures on the integrated map of underground space by automating more than 98% of the 3D model inspection process, which is currently being conducted manually.
One of the key domains within a smart tourism city, smart mobility, encompasses advanced transportation means and services rooted in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This includes shared bicycles, scooters, car-sharing services, smart transportation infrastructure, and more, aiming to surpass limitations of conventional transport and improve the movement of people and goods. It also serves tourists as an affordable and convenient mode of transport between attractions while also enhancing the overall travel experience. This study has defined 'smart tourism mobility' as a form of mobility grounded in ICT, exhibiting exceptional connectivity, serving public interest, and serving as a mode of transport for both residents and tourists in a smart tourism city. The research aimed to outline the scope of smart tourism mobility-related industries through expert Delphi surveys and estimate their economic effects within a smart tourism city. Specifically, this study updated 2015 input-output table and made 2020 regional input-output table of Seoul adopting RAS method and location quotient method. The results showed that the about 2.8 billion KRW investment of Seoul in smart tourism mobility may create more than 4.1 billion KRW in production inducement effect which is expected to create more than 1.6 billion KRW of income-inducing effect, 3.6 billion KRW of value-added-inducing effect, and 54 employment across all industries in Seoul in 2022.
