  • Koreatech has recently adopted a long-term co-op program called IPP (Industry Professional Practice) to address problems in engineering education of Korea, but it is anticipated to face many difficulties in implementing the program due to lack of relevant experiences in Korea. In this regard, a performance evaluation scheme is required to improve the operational efficiency and judge the effectiveness of the IPP program at the same time. This study aims to develop a comprehensive performance evaluation model for the Koreatech co-op program on the basis of Kirkpatrick's four stage performance evaluation model for training programs. For this purpose, thorough review on the program evaluation literature and in-depth analyses of overseas cases of co-op performance evaluation were also conducted. The study is expected to help enhance the effectiveness of the IPP program and promote buy-in of a range of stakeholders for the first long-term co-op program in Korea.

  • For the purpose of carrying out nutrition counseling effectively and efficiently, this study assessed the nutrition counseling practice, perception and nutrition knowledge of elementary school children in Gyeongbuk province. Survey questionnaires were distributed between November 2009 and December 2009 to 100 nutrition counseling experienced children (participants) and 110 nutrition counseling non-experienced children (non-participants) and were completed with nutrition teachers' assistance. According to the survey results, girls and overweight/obese children showed higher tendency of participation in nutrition counseling (p<0.001). Participants who took nutrition counseling according to their own intentions showed satisfaction after counseling on diverse subjects such as obesity, unbalanced diet, and weight control. Particularly, 'lack of counseling session time', 'unfavorable counseling condition' or 'difficult explanation' caused participants unsatisfaction after counseling. Participants usually perceived the meaning of nutrition counseling more correctly than non-participants and showed positive intentions for taking further counseling in the future(p<0.001). Diet good for weight control, good food to fix unbalanced diet and diet good for growing stature were the top three subjects of nutrition counseling chosen by subjects (p<0.001). Participants also showed higher nutrition knowledge scores than non-participants. Therefore, it is critically important to apply nutrition counseling in the proper environment (counseling room, time, teaching materials, etc) to elementary school students to fix healthy food habits. Therefore, nutrition teachers need to be provide professional nutrition counseling skills and knowledge.

  • As a professional occupation, landscape education focuses on fostering professional human resources and is one of the major axes of the landscape industry. In this study, a survey of landscape students on their learning and pedagogics was conducted with the aim to present basic information for the improvement of teaching on landscape construction. A total of 348 people answered 14 questions in the category of the impression of landscape construction classes included in the questionnaire. The results showed that the students found landscape construction classes academically important and recognized the necessity for completing these classes, but they were not satisfied with the learning environments and pedagogics used in these classes. They found what they learned not readily applicable to actual practice and saw these classes as part of their preparations for the landscape engineer qualification test. Their demands in relation to the classes included field practice-oriented teaching and participation in various programs for field practice, which highlights the necessity for human resource management-oriented classes that cover planning, design, construction, and management. Challenges in relation to field practice included the provision of environment, for example offering a variety of opportunities and improving treatment in practice. This study has significance in that it analyzed the views of students and discussed directions for future improvement since there is a lack of studies and discussions about education in the field of landscape construction. This study also has a limitation that only four-year universities were included in the study. Comprehensive studies including investigating junior college and graduate school curricula and case studies of landscape construction curricula overseas are needed in the future.

  • According to the new general movement of ESSD in Korea, the role, background, and subjects, etc. of Ecological Restoration Area were studied to find out the way for this area to be settled as one kind of industry. Questionnaire and literature study were carried out to understand and to find out the way of the area settlement with the conceptual and practical definition of it. The related sub-areas studied were 1. regulations and standards including design and construction 2. researches and developments around the area 3. related curriculums applying in the educational organizations 4. present situation of the industry. Followings are the results of this study and several proposals for the area to be settled in Korea with the other related areas. 1. The boundary of Ecological Restoration could be defined as the concept of preservation(or conservation) and restoration of the ecosystem with ecological planting - including the restoration strategies for the areas of slope, artificial foundations, watersides and wetlands, with in bio-diversity and eco-forests for these areas. 2. It seems that the more investments needed for the elaborate and professional techniques to be developed for the design and construction works to the contrary that the base of this area be matured already in the several sub-areas. 3. For the successful work of Environmental Restoration, defining the new industrial branch -independent from existing construction industry- is recommended through the law system under the control of the Ministry of Environment. It will be better if professional officer system in governmental organization could follow up this. 4. Educational organization and Technical expert qualifying system to train the Ecological Restoration Professionals should be induced for the effective practice of the area.

  • This study explores the culture surrounding the dyeing of royal garments in the late Joseon Dynasty. The findings of this study are as follows. First, several dyes were used to color royal garments, such as jicho, honghwa, danmok, simhwang, sambo, goehwa, chija, and namjong. Mordants such as maesil, hwanghoemok, yeohoe, and baekban were also used with the dyes. Second, the Sangeuiwon (尙衣院) was the department in charge of the purchasing of dyes and the entire dyeing practice. It was the Seonhyecheong (宣惠廳) and the Hojo (戶曹) who provided revenue to the Sangeuiwon through a wongong, regular tribute, and a bokjeong (supplementary tribute). Additionally, additional dyes, if found to be insufficient, could be provided by the Hojo. Every year the Hojo provided jicho, honghwa, and danmok to the Sangeuiwon, and sometimes imported namjong from China. Third, royal garments were, in most cases, dyed by the Sangeuiwon's professional dyers and court ladies belonging to the sewing department in each palace. Naenongpo (內農圃) eunuchs were in charge of the indigo crops of each palace. Finally, more dye was used in royal garments than in the clothes of commoners to obtain a deeper shade of color. In addition, dyers tried to achieve a clear and vivid tone in their garments. Silk which absorbed color relatively easily, was dyed inside the palace using an ice vat filled with fresh indigo leaves; however, cotton was difficult to dye and was sent to professional indigo dyers outside the palace.

The current version is UCP 600, which took effect on July 1, 2007. To assist the practitioners of Documentary Credits, the KCCI(Koea Chamber of Commerce and Industry) authorised a new publication-Official Commentary on UCP 600. This new publication added the word "official" in the title. In order to being an official commentary, the terms and expression should be correct and unified. • The purpose of this study is to draw implications and critical success factors by surveying and analysing practice cases of green care in south Korea. To achieve the object of this study, many valuable cases were checked through preceding researches and internet informations. Case study targets were divided into side-work farmer type, professional farmer type, and Institution directed type, and then case study surveys were performed by each type. Every case has the natural environment in common, and tries to satisfy users's demands and to give the opportunity to communicate. Especially, the strong motivation, mind, and entrepreneurship of operators are very important factors for green care. If the development of government supporting policies and related education programs are accompanied with lots of potential such as Korean oriental medicine, rural tourism village, and sixth industry project, it will be possible to introduce and manage green care successfully.
