This study attempted to determine the effects of a cooperative and cognitive group therapy compared to individual therapy in 24 aphasic subjects. Two dependent variables were measured overall language performance, functional communication skills. 18 subjects with different types and severity of aphasia participated in the group therapy. 6 aphasic subjects participated in the individual therapy and they functioned as a control group. The subjects were ranged from 27 to 59 years in age. The group therapy using the cooperative learning utilized the following procedures. First, 6 aphasics constituted 1 group where each subject peformed a task and they monitored one another. Second, 2 aphasics consisted 1 group and they cooperated to perform a task. Third, 3 groups with 2 aphasics in a group competed one another in a task where the 2 aphasics had to cooperated. Finally, the investigator gave the feedback to the group and she and the subjects discussed the overall procedures of the therapy. The above mentioned 2 tests were administered pre- and post-treatment. A repeated two-way ANOVA was performed for analysis. The results showed that the group therapy was more effective in improving overall language performance as compared to the individual therapy. And, the group therapy was more effective in increasing functional communication skills as compared to the individual therapy.
Ever increasing dependence of organization on information technology stimulates interactions between individuals and groups in the process of knowledge creation, which overall impies that a reciprocal mechanism lies within the structure of the growth of group intelligence. Individual's intelligence may affect the group intelligence, and vise versa. However, the level of group intelligence is not necessarily determined by the sum of individual's intelligence but the quality of the interactions among the individuals. This study thus aims to conceptually identify the dynamic structure of interactions among the factors influencing the group intelligence level, which is believed to be used as a tool to measure the difference of intelligence between groups. To achieve this goal several attempts were made. First, determinants of intelligence at indiviual level and group level and similarities and differences between individual's and group intelligence were identified from the previous research. Second, causal loop diagrams were developed, which show how individual's intelligence influences group intelligence and vise versa. Third, it was attempted to identify and interpret which feedback loops are most influential in either improving or hapering group intelligence as a whole. Since this study remains only at exploratory level, a more detailed and workable model for field applications has to be developed in the future.

This study proposes a deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model for heterogeneous big data integration, for which collaborative filtering and a neural-network algorithm are employed. The proposed model is used to apply an individual's importance or sensory level to formulate a recommendation using the decision-making feedback. The evolutionary recommendation model is based on the Deep Neural Network (DNN), which is useful for analyzing and evaluating the feedback data among various neural-network algorithms, and the DNN is combined with collaborative filtering. The designed model is used to extract health information from data collected by the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and the collaborative filtering-based recommendation model was compared with the deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model to evaluate its performance. The RMSE is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. According to the comparative analysis, the accuracy of the deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model is superior to that of the collaborative filtering-based recommendation model.
In the previous work, we proposed a new stability criterion for the stability of switched linear systems. By the proposed criterion, we could simply check the stability of switched linear systems because the criterion is applicable to each individual subsystem without need to consider the overall system. Using this criterion, we provided the methods that design a state feedback control when full states are available. In this paper, we apply the same criterion to the case when full states are not available. Unlike existing method such as dwelling time analysis, the proposed method is suitable to a fast switching process because there is no need to consider dwelling time. And we can easily achieve designing multi-controller, multi-estimator, and the supervisor by means of the proposed method.
Many manufacturing devices must execute motions as quickly as possible to achieve profitable high-volume production. Most of them have devices having flexibility and a time delay of one sampling is added to the plants when they are controlled by fast discrete controllers, which brings about non-minimum phase zeros. This paper develops a control strategy that combines feedforward and feedback control with command shaping for such devices. First, the feedback controller is designed to increase damping and eliminate steady-state error. Next, the feedforward controller is designed to speed up the transient response. Finally, an appropriate reference profile is generated using command-shaping techniques to ensure fast point-to-point motions with minimum residual vibration. The particular focus of the paper is to understand the interactions between these individual control components. The resulting control strategy is demonstrated on a model of a high-speed semiconductor manufacturing machine.
Security of a power system refers to its robustness relative to a set of imminent disturbances (contingencies) during operation. The socially optimal solution for the actuall level of generation/consumption has been well-known spot pricing at shot-run marginal cost. The main disadvantage of this approach arises because serious contingencies occur quite infrequently. Thus by establishing contractual obligations for contingency offering before an actual operation time through decision feedback we can obtain socially optimal level of system security. Under probabilistic precontract pricing the operating point is established at equal incremental cost of the expected short-run and collapse cost of each participant. Rates for power generation/consumption and for an offer to use during a contingency, as well as information on the probability distribution of contingency need for each participant, are derived so that individual optimization will lead to the socially optimal solution in which system security is optimized and the aggregate benefit is maxmized.
In this paper, we propose the robust performance design of multivariable systems within the framework of Quantitative Feedback Theory(QFT) using ICD. The ICD(Individual Channel Design) is a multivariable control method based on the classical frequence response. It is considered to apply feedforward controller for compensating the effect of interconnection between channels. Performance of the proposed method are demonstrated by simulations in appling gas turbine model.
Fuzzy System which are based on membership functions and rules can control nonlinear uncertain complex systems well. However Fuzzy logic controller(FLC) has problems; It is difficult to design the stable FLC and FLC depends mainly on individual experience. Although FLC can be designed using the error back-propagation algorithm it takes long time to converge into global optimal parameters. Well-developed linear system theory should not be replaced by FLC but instead it should be suitably used with FLC. A new methodology is introduced for designing THEN-PART membership functions of FLC based on its well-tuned state feedback controller. A example of inverted pendulum is given for demonstration of the robustness of proposed methodology.
