  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of family-of-origin experiences(parents' marital adjustment and affectionate relationship with parents) and self-differentiation on the nuclear family relationships(marital adjustment of married men women, and affectionate relationship with child). Data were collected using self-administered questionnaire method with 159 married men and 193 married women. The results showed that first, married men and women perceived the level of family-of-origin experiences lower than that of nuclear family relationships, and there were significant differences in the level of marital adjustment across sex, age, marital status, and income. Second, there was significant positive correlation between family-of-origin experiences and self-differentiation, between family-of-origin experiences and the nuclear family relationships, and between self-differentiation and the nuclear family relationships. Third, multiple regression analyses indicated that parents' marital adjustment and emotional cutoff were the powerful predictors of marital adjustment of married men women. Finally, women's affectionate relationship with child was predicted by such variables as affectionate relationship with parents, fusion with others, and emotional fusion, whereas men's affectionate relationship with child was predicted by such variables as affectionate relationship with parents, emotional reactivity, and I-position.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify how attitudes toward menopause and family-related variables (living with a first child, satisfaction with children, and marital satisfaction) were associated with the perceived menopausal symptoms of middle-aged Korean females. Data for the study were based on a community sample of 628 women whose ages ranged from 45 to 60, who were currently married and had at least one child. The respondents reported lower levels of menopausal symptoms, medium levels of marital satisfaction and slightly higher levels of satisfaction with children. Feelings of tiredness, irritability, and nervousness without apparent reason, and aches in the lumbago and joints were common menopausal symptoms reported in this study. Regression analysis was conducted to investigate the effects of monthly income, educational level, employment status, attitudes toward menopause, living with a first child, satisfaction with children, and marital satisfaction on perceived menopausal symptoms. Attitudes toward menopause, living with a first child, satisfaction with children and marital satisfaction were significantly associated with perceived menopausal symptoms. In particular, marital satisfaction had the strongest effect on perceived menopausal symptoms. The results showed that in the face of the developmental challenges experienced during the menopausal transition, family-related variables served as positive reinforcement for married middle-aged women. This finding suggests that in order to improve the menopausal transition, family education programs need to be developed and offered to middle aged females who suffer from severe menopausal symptoms.

The health promoting behaviors in the hair dressers showed positive correlation with self-efficacy and internal control, while it showed negative correlation with control over other people, control of fortuity, health concept, and perceived fatigue. 4. The Regression analysis results of the questionnaire showed that perceived fatigue, health concept and office hours were significant factors but the age, the fact of being single or couple, position at the job, holidays, satisfaction of the job, self-control and stresses from other people and self-efficiency appeared insignificant. In conclusion, the hair dressers with less perceived fatigue and better cognitive health concept and short duty hours showed better health promoting behavior. So, In order to conduct health promoting behaviors of hair dressers, the method will need to control of working time and perceived fatigue.

Almost all the HW prepared three meals themselves but the EW did not so. In the EW, husband and mother-in-law often assisted with meal-related activities, but in the HE, daughters (p<0.01) . HE spent more time on meal-related activities than do EW (Hw: 4.1 hrs/day, Ew·: 3.2 hrs/day) . The preparation time for supper was longest among three meals. As the problems of meal management, both the two groups' wives pointed 'too much time' (43.1 %), 'lack of nutrition knowledge '(42.8 %), but EW' husbands, 'no variety of cooking method'(42.8 %), while HW' husbands, 'lack of nutrition knowledge'(34.3 %).

HDL- cholesterol of the Danjeon breathing exercise group and the walking exercise group were not higher than that of the control group. 3. Atherogenic index of the Danjeon breathing exercise group was lower than that of the control group, but atherogenic index of the walking exercise group was not lower than that of the control group. 4. Hemoglobin of the Danjeon breathing exercise group and the walking exercise group were not higher than that of the control group. 5. Physical symptom score of the Danjeon breathing exercise group was lower than those of the walking exercise group and the control group, but Physical symptom score of the walking exercise group was not lower than that of the control group. Results : Participants in this study were poorly informed about the cancer warning signs, and the 24.9% of participants and divided by two groups. The high level group was 19.3%, and the low 80.7%. In this initial univariate analysis, the following variables were significantly associated with knowledge levels of cancer warning signs: age, sex, education, living with parter, annual income, smoking status, hepatitis vaccination, perceived possibility of cancer, previous cancer-screening examinations. In multivariate logistic analysis, we found three variables, sex, education level, previous pap-smear test, are significantly associated with knowledge levels of cancer warning signs. The knowledge level was higher among women, people with higher education, and those who had previous pap-smear examination. Conclusion : This study demonstrates that cancer warning signs are not common knowledge among the rural public. It also indicates the need for cancer education to improve knowledge in the rural public and the develop education programmes targeted especially at the old, men, and those who had not cancer screening examination should be considered to plan.

  • To find the prevalence of the Farmer's syndrome and the related factors, we investigated 909 farmers who and older than 30 years and live in Choongju area. The farmers were interviewed individually with a questionnaire from July 18 through 31, 1997. The results are as follows; The prevalence of Farmer's syndrome was 21.0% in male and 45.1% in female. The age prevalence of Farmer's syndrome was higher in thirties and forties than fifties and over sixties in both sex. Farmer's syndrome was significantly higher in low educational status, low income, low family members and more than 20 years of farming group. However, Farmer's syndrome was significantly higher in non smoking and non alcohol intake group, there were no significant differences according to smoking and alcohol intake after stratification by sex. The most frequent symptom in male was lumbago(60.5%), the second was numb limb(49.8%), the third was shoulder stiffness(43.2%) and the fourth was dizziness(31.5%). In female, the most frequent symptom was lumbago(81.3%), the second was numb limb(70.2%), the third was dizziness(62.2%) and the fourth was shoulder stiffness(55.9%). All of these four symptoms are significantly higher in female than in male. With multiple logistic regression for Farmer's syndrome, sex(OR of female=3.3) number of family(OR of <=1.9) and duration of farming(OR of $\geq$2.0 yr=1.5) were turned out to be significant variables.

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of regular participation in physical activity on personal happiness by analyzing the "2014 National Leisure Sports Participation Survey". By using cross-tabulation and the binary logit model, it is found that there is a positive correlation between those two variables. The effect of positive affect on happiness index was found to be influenced by age, education level, occupation, income, marital status, appear. The results of the analysis of the relationship between the presence of sports facilities and the participation of regular physical activity using crosstab analysis and the analysis of physical activity showed positive relationship between two variables. Hence, it is expected that providing more opportunities to participate in sports programs can lead the public to more regular participation in physical activity.
