  • In this paper, the characteristics of the inductor and capacitor, which are the basic components of the circuit, are constructed in a form that can be used in the LTCC multilayer. The inductors and capacitors used for the analysis were designed with rectangular spiral structures and MIM structures inside dielectrics with a dielectric constant of 7, respectively. The measured results were extracted from each element of the equivalent circuit proposed by the curve fitting method and verified the validity of the proposed equivalent circuit based on the extracted results. The analyzed inductor and capacitor were implemented in the form of library and proved its usefulness by applying to Elliptical type 5th LPF design. The LPF was measured through practical production, and as a result, the insertion loss in the passband DC ~ 3.7 GHz was up to 1.0 dB, the return loss was 19.2 dB, and the attenuation in the rejection band was 23.9 dB, which was close to the design goal.

  • Recently, the use of signal compression methods to improve the efficiency of wireless networks have increased. In particular, the MPC system was used in the pitch extraction method and the excitation source of voiced and unvoiced to reduce the bit rate. In general, the MPC system using an excitation source of voiced and unvoiced would result in a distortion of the synthesis speech waveform in the case of voiced and unvoiced consonants in a frame. This is caused by normalization of the synthesis speech waveform in the process of restoring the multi-pulses of the representation segment. This paper presents an ACFBD-MPC (Amplitude Compensation Frequency Band Division-Multi Pulse Coding) using amplitude compensation in a multi-pulses each pitch interval and specific frequency to reduce the distortion of the synthesis speech waveform. The experiments were performed with 16 sentences of male and female voices. The voice signal was A/D converted to 10kHz 12bit. In addition, the ACFBD-MPC system was realized and the SNR of the ACFBD-MPC estimated in the coding condition of 8kbps. As a result, the SNR of ACFBD-MPC was 13.6dB for the female voice and 14.2dB for the male voice. The ACFBD-MPC improved the male and female voice by 1 dB and 0.9 dB, respectively, compared to the traditional MPC. This method is expected to be used for cellular telephones and smartphones using the excitation source with a low bit rate.

  • In this study, the torrefaction of food waste was conducted to characterize its product, to find out effect of the operating temperature and to assess the feasibility of being used as fuel. The operating temperature was varid from $180^{\circ}C{\sim}270^{\circ}C$ and heat was provided by using nitrogen gas or waste oil heat carrier. The solid yield and moisture content were reduced were reduced as temperature increased. The moisture content reduction and thermochemical conversion were observed at higher than $240^{\circ}C$. At low operating temperature, heat transfer efficiency was higher with wast oil heat carrier. As temperature increases, there was not difference in heat transfer efficiency of two different heating methods. The lower heating value product was increased from 660 to 6,400 Kcal/kg with nitrogen gas and 6,890 Kcal/kg with waste oil heat carrier. The elemental analysis indicates that, as temperature increases, the carbon content of product increases and oxygen content decreases. From the analysis of O/C and H/C, the torrefaction product was close to low grade coal. The characteristics of fuel converted from the food subsequent thermochemical treatment.

  • Small size and low profile antenna for mobile vehicular-top-mounted is needed in satellite communication services such as DBS, Satellite Internet and VSAT. In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ku-band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 16 leaky-wave elements is showing 30 dBi of gain, 4.9 degree of beamwidth, below than -20 dB of sidelobe level, 45 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency. Feed network designed by waveguide cooperated feed shows good performance of wideband and low loss.

  • Multi-carrier CDMA is a transmission scheme where data symbols are spread in the frequency domain with a spread code then transmitted using multiple carriers. It is robust against narrowband interference because of its long symbol duration. However, due to large sidebands of the rectangular window frequency response, subchannels spectrally overlap with neighboring subchannels, which leads to substantial intercarrier interference in a dispersive channel. In this paper, we consider a mult-carrier CDMA system where subchannel spectral containment is achiveved by M-band cosine modulated filter bank (CMFB). In CMFB based MC-CDMA, subchannel spectral containment is achieved using the filter bank of longer impulse response than that of conventional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) filter bank. We show that spectral containment feature of the CMFB based fading channel is analyzed using computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose and design a SSD(Simultaneous Single band Duplex) system using 5G(Generation) candidate modulations. Especially, we consider HPA(High Power Amplifier) nonlinearity in the proposed system. And then, we evaluate and analyze performance of the proposed system. As simulation results, performance of SSD-OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), SSD-FMC (Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier), and SSD-FBMC(Filter Bank Multi-Carrier) is severely degraded by HPA nonlinearity. However, performance of SSD-OFDM, SSD-UFMC, and SSD-FBMC is similar in the same condition. That is, OFDM, UFMC, and FBMC have a similar PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) characteristic. Finally, we can confirm that the proposed SSD system can not cancel(SI) self-interference effectively by strong HPA nonlinearity. That is, Reducing PAPR is important in order to avoid effect of HPA nonlinearity in the proposed SSD system.

In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ka band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. Especially, for the lower sidelobe level the radiation power control using a design method of the different slot width is proposed. • A new linearization technique for RF high-power amplifiers(HPAs) using n-th order error signal generator (ESGn) is proposed. The n-th order ESG generates an error signal based on the complex envelope transfer characteristics of the HPA, which is combined at the output of the HPA. Therefore, the higher-order nonlinearlities are not affected by the ESG$\_$n/ and the stability of the linearized system is guaranteed due to the inherent open-loop configuration. Moreover, the output delay loss can be avoided, because the error signal is generated with the input signal of the HPA. The IMD(intermodulation distortion) improvement obtained applying the ESG$\_$7/ to 5 W class A HPA in cellular band demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed postdistortion system.

  • The cartesian loop chip which is one of key devices in narrow-band Walky-Talky transmitter using RZ-SSB modulation method was designed and implemented with 0.35 ㎛ CMOS technology. The reduced size and low cost of transmitter were available by the use of direct-conversion and cartesian loop chip, which improved the power efficiency and linearity of transmitter. In addition, low power operation was possible through CMOS technology. The performance test results of transmitter showed -23㏈c improvement of IMD and -30㏈c below suppression of SSB characteristic in the operation of cartesian loop chip (closed-loop). At that time, the transmitting power was about 37㏈m (5W). The main parameters to improve the transmitting characteristic and to compensate the distortion in feed back loop such as DC-offset, loop gain and phase value are interfaced with notebook PC to be controlled with S/W.
