  • Transparent conducting indium tin oxide (TC-ITO) thin films on polymeric substrates have been deposited by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering without heat treatments. The polymeric substrates are acryl (AC), poly carbornate (PC), and polyethlene terephthalate (PET) as well as soda lime glass is also used to compare with the polymeric substrates. Sputtering parameters are an important factor for high quality of TC-ITO thin films prepared on polymeric substrates. Furthermore, the material, electrical and optical properties of as-deposited ITO films are dominated by the ratio of oxygen partial pressure. As the experimental results, the surface roughness of ITO films becomes rough as the oxygen partial pressure increases. The electrical resistivity of as-deposited ITO films decreases initially, and then increases with the increase of oxygen partial pressure. The optical transmittance at visible wavelength for all polymeric substrates is above 82 %.

  • ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) thin films have been fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering with a target of a mixture $In_{2}O_{3]$(90 wt%) and $SnO_{2}$ (10 wt%). ITO films were sputtered with substrate temperature from 30 to $300^{\circ}C$ and working pressure from 1 to under 0.1 m Torr. ITO thin films surface morphology and electrical properties analyzed by SEM Photographs, and X-ray diffractions patterns. The resistivity of ITO thin films was $1.8{\times}10^{-5}{\Omega}/cm$.

  • We have proposed an Buffer layer to improve the transmittance of ITO. Here, $SiO_2$ and $TiO_2$ were selected as the Buffer layer coating material. The structures of Buffer layer were designed in ITO/$SiO_2/TiO_2$/Glass and ITO/Glass/$TiO_2/SiO_2$. Then, these materials were deposited by ion-assisted deposition system. Transmittances of deposited ITO were 86.14 and 85.07%, respectively. These results show that the proposed structure has higher transmittance than the conventional ITO device.

  • We demonstrated that the solution processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have the high efficiency with pre-treated indium-tin-oxide (ITO). ITO surface was pre-treated with four methods and compared each other. The pre-treatment of ITO surface improves the chemical and physical characteristics of ITO such as the surface roughness, adhesion property, and the hole injection ability. These properties were analyzed by the contact angle, atomic force microscope (AFM) image, and the current flow character in device. As a results, the device with ITO pre-treated by $O_2$ plasma shows the current efficiency of 5.93 cd/A, which is 1.5 times the device without pre-treatment.

  • Device quality indium tin oxide (ITO) films are deposited on glass substrates and ultra-thin diamond-like carbon films are deposited as a buffer layer on ITO by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser at 355 nm and 532 nm wavelength. ITO films deposited at room temperature are largely amorphous although their optical transmittances in the visible range are > 90%. The resistivity of their amorphous ITO films is too high to enable an efficient organic light-emitting device (OLED), in contrast to that deposited by a KrF laser. Substrate heating at $200^{\circ}C$ with laser wavelength of 355 nm, the ITO film resistivity decreases by almost an order of magnitude to $2{\times}10^{-4}\;{\Omega}\;cm$ while its optical transmittance is maintained at > 90%. The thermally induced crystallization of ITO has a preferred <111> directional orientation texture which largely accounts for the lowering of film resistivity. The background gas and deposition distance, that between the ITO target and the glass substrate, influence the thin-film microstructures. The optical and electrical properties are compared to published results using other nanosecond lasers and other fluence, as well as the use of ultra fast lasers. Molecularly doped, single-layer OLEDs of ITO/(PVK+TPD+$Alq_3$)/Al which are fabricated using pulsed-laser deposited ITO samples are compared to those fabricated using the commercial ITO. Effects such as surface texture and roughness of ITO and the insertion of DLC as a buffer layer into ITO/DLC/(PVK+TPD+$Alq_3$)/Al devices are investigated. The effects of DLC-on-ITO on OLED improvement such as better turn-on voltage and brightness are explained by a possible reduction of energy barrier to the hole injection from ITO into the light-emitting layer.

  • Multilayer transparent electrodes, having a much lower electrical resistance than the widely used transparent conducting oxide electrodes, were prepared by using radio frequency magnetron sputtering. The multilayer structure consisted of five layers, indium tin oxided (ITO)/zinc oxide (ZnO)/Ag/zinc oxide (ZnO)/ITO. With about 50 nm thick ITO films, the multilayer showed a high optical transmittance in the visible range of the spectrum and had color neutrality. The electrical and optical properties of ITO/ZnO/Ag/ZnO/ITO multilayer were changed mainly by Ag film properties, which were affected by the deposition process of the upper layer. Especially ZnO layer was improved to adhesion of Ag and ITO. A high quality transparent electrode, having a resistance as low as and a high optical transmittance of 91% at 550 nm, was obtained. It could satisfy the requirement for the flexible OLED and LCD.

  • Transparent conductive oxide films have been widely used in the field of flat panel display (FPD). Transparent conductive Indium Zinc Oxide (IZO) thin films with excellent chemical stability have attracted much attention as an alternative material for Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) films. In this study, using $In_2O_3$ and ZnO powder mixture with a ratio of 90 : 10 wt% as a target, IZO films are prepared on polynorbornene (PNB) substrates by electron beam evaporation. The effect of thickness and $O_2$ introduction flow rate on the optical, electrical, structural properties and surface composition of deposited IZO films were investigated by UV/Visible spectrophotometer, 4-point probe method, SEM, XRD and XPS.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) films were prepared onto transparent polyimide (PI) substrates by RF magnetron sputtering at room temperature. The deposited ITO films were heat-treated at various temperatures (50, 100, 150, and 200℃). The effect of post heat-treatment temperature on structural, electrical and optical properties of ITO films were investigated. It was found that the as-deposited ITO films were amorphous and the degree of crystallinity and the grain size increased with an increasing heat-treatment temperature, which led to the increase in carrier concentration and mobility. The electrical resistivity of as-deposited ITO films was 2.73 × 10-3 Ω·cm. With the heat-treatment temperature increasing from 50 to 200℃, the electrical resistivity decreased from 2.93 × 10-3 to 1.21 × 10-4 Ω·cm. The average transmittance (400~800 nm) of the ITO deposited PI substrates was decreasing with post heat-treatment temperature and was above 81 % for the temperatures 50~150℃ and decreased considerably to 78 % at 200℃.
