  • The purpose of this study is to propose a method to decide near-optimal settings of the constant current fuzzy control parameters using a controlled random search. This method tries to find the near-optimal settings of the constant current fuzzy control parameters through experiments. It has an advantage of being able to carry out searches in the search domain which includes some irregular points. The method suggested in this study was used to determine the fuzzy control parameters by which the desired welding current were formed during inverter DC resistance spot welding. The output variable was the ITAE (integral of time multiplied by the absolute error). This output variable was determined according to the input variables, which are the GE, GDE, and GDU. This study described how to obtained near-optimal welding current condition over a wide search space conducting a relatively small number of experiments.

  • In this paper, it is proposed that the design of the PID controller with the internal model control structure for improved performance. Internal model was identification that is second-order plus dead time structure using final-value theorem and genetic algorithm The parameters of Controller are determined to minimize IAE(Integral of the Absolute value of the Error) and ITAE(Integral of the Time multiplied by the Absolute value of the Error) of performance index by internal model and numerical method. Simulation examples are given to show the better performance of the proposed method than conventional methods.

  • In this paper, a new method for first order plus dead time(FOPDT) model identification is proposed, which can identity multiple points on a process step response in terms of classification of time response. The process input and output to the test are decomposed into the transient part and the steady-state part. The steady-state part express one FOPDT model and the transient part express variously FOPDT model using least square estimation method. The optimum parameter tuning algorithm for PID controller of the Smith Predictor is proposed through ITAE as performance index. The Simulation results show the validity and improvement of performance for various processes.

  • In the two-mass servo system driving a load through a flexible shaft, a shaft torsional vibration is often generated. PI controller has been generally used is speed control of such system because of the simplicity of structure and related theory. This paper presents the inertia ratio of the PI servo control system which can be designed by using optimal pole assignment method is fixed. Therefore, it's difficult to obtain the desired control characteristics for different systems only by PI control algorithm. To solve this problems the two-mass speed control system with PID controller is designed by using pole assignment method and an optimum PID parameters are derived by evaluating ITAE(Integral of time multiplied by the absolute error) performance index. But this design method has some problems due to a trade-off between the fast command following property and the attenuation of disturbances and vibrations. In this paper, 2-DOF PID control method which satisfies the command following property, the reduction of overshoot and the property of disturbance rejection at the same time is proposed. This is a practical speed controller using the desired value filter and the feedforward gain. From several simulations, it's clarified that the proposed 2-DOF PID controller is useful for the two-mass system, in comparison with the conventional PID controller.

  • Metaheuristic algorithms can work well in solving or optimizing problems, especially those that require approximation or do not have a good analytical solution. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is one of these algorithms. The response quality of these algorithms depends on the objective function and its regulated parameters. The nonlinear nature of the pressurized light-water nuclear reactor (PWR) dynamics is a significant target for PSO. The two-point kinetics model of this type of reactor is used because of fission products properties. The proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is intended to control the power level of the PWR at a short-time transient. The absolute error (IAE), integral of square error (ISE), integral of time-absolute error (ITAE), and integral of time-square error (ITSE) objective functions have been used as performance indexes to tune the PID gains with PSO. The optimization results with each of them are evaluated with the number of function evaluations (NFE). All performance indexes achieve good results with differences in the rate of over/under-shoot or convergence rate of the cost function, in the desired time domain.

  • This paper presents optimal robust PID controller design method for second order systems to satisfy the design specifications in time domain. The parameters of PID controller are determinated by the weighting factors Q and R of cost function. It is suggested that the selection of Q and R matrix can be determinated by its relationship with the natural frequency of ITAE criterion.

  • In this paper, model-based tuning rules of the PID controller are proposed incorporating with genetic algorithms. Three sets of optimal PID parameters for set-point tracking are obtained based on the first-order time delay model and a genetic algorithm as a optimization tool which minimizes performance indices(IAE, ISE and ITAE). Then tuning rules are derived using the tuned parameter sets, potential rule models and a genetic algorithm. Simulation is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed rules.
