  • Barcode system has been used for many years in labors controlling & ready mixed concrete supplement in A/E/C industry However, it was not quite successful because ot its limitations in the field. The use of RFID system is getting important in the real world. RFID system substituted for barcode system in labor controling & ready mixed concrete supplement and it showed its potentialities in other major materials supply logistics and its possibilities In progress management of 4D system. This research shows RFID system's case study and its future directions in A/E/C industry.

  • Recently as people's values are changing from development into quality of life, the needs of environmentally friendly construction are gradually increasing, also popular discontent about the construction pollution such as the noise and vibration cause by construction machinery is increasing. Even though it is impossible to eliminate construction pollution fully, it is necessary to make efforts to reduce construction pollution to a minimum. The first step solving these matters is that the necessary sum of expense must be secured as the environmental budgeting method regarding Environmental management costs. To provide an efficient budgeting method, a interview with the person in charge of environment management was conducted. and the environmental management costs were analyzed through the historical data.

  • The current construction industry mainly uses paper-based construction documents which are produced during the whole life cycle. The paper-based information hinders to reuse the construction information, due to the inefficiency to exchange and share the construction information between designers and constructors. To overcome these problems, construction CALS/EC (Continuous Acquisition and Life Cycle Support/Electronic Commerce) has been proposed by the government. It supports efficient reusing, sharing and exchanging the construction information using digitalized drawings and documentations. This study intends to show the future applying methodologies of using the standardized key technologies in the construction CALS/EC based on the case study of Korea and several countries.

  • Owing to the growth of Information Technology, some of big general contractors have been interested in the development of Quality Management Information Systems to integrate the information of quality in planning, design, procurement, construction, and maintenance phases, and tried to maximize the usefulness of it. But the trend has confined only to some big general contractors. The purpose of this paper is to put together and analyze the character of Quality Management Information Systems of big general construction companies and classfy them into a result-focused system and a process-focused system in order to provide primary information for both of development and adoption of the systems.

  • The value engineering(VE) in construction projects is systematic method which improve quality as well as reduction input cost and as construction VE work extends the range of application, the importance is rising. For this reason studies are needed to enforce design value engineering work systemically and effectively. In this study, we analyzed the problem of the present construction VE processing and deduced the model to be most suitable the work efficiency. As suggested model reflects systemically requirement item of owner and user, it will make approaching direction and standard establishment possible. So it will increase the following function analysis in analyzing step and the effectiveness of creating idea and make successful VE result.

  • Construction project has various effective factor and many producer in multifarious process of the work. Thus it has many variation. However, Process management up to now is management method of conclusion oriented. So, it do not consider sequency and variation occurrence. In a result that a lot of problems happen. Lean Construction can solve limit of the present management method. And Lean Construction is estimated new management method of process management for reliance on process plan, safety of process and promotion of effectiveness. This study analysed application of real construction project in Lean Construction theory and examined to utilize VSM and TACT for field application.

  • This paper is to evaluate the informational direction, current situations and ERP establishment concerning constructing industry, to present the right directions, implemented cases for implementing constructional ERP, also to suggest the effect, influence, problems and shootings in constructional ERP arena. The constructing industries in korea are facing great turning point because of the huge corruptions currently happened and forcing to open the market in 1997. Attempting to establish Computer Integrated construction system (ERP) by breaking down constructing cost, improving quality, operating rapid and effective construction to enhance productivity, it is hard to achieve the goal with only inter-contractor's establishment. Constructing industries are integrated ones, consisted of many organizations for instance ordering agencies, contractors, subcontractors, material vendors, etc. and use various information formats such as texts, graphics, drawings. I dare suggest that implementation of constructional CALS including EDI/EC, GIS is tile only solution to control the information systematically generated in whole stages from planing, designing, constructing through maintenance, and to supply or switch the information.

  • For the successful introduction of the construction automation system, it is necessary to define the consideration factors and target tasks for the necessity of automating the conventional methods. In this study, the factors for automation were derived through brainstorming and questionnaires, and calculated the relative importance through the pairwise comparison using the AHP analysis method. In addition, the detailed type of concrete work was classified into 32 detailed works, and the automation score for each work was calculated by investigating the factors considering the necessity of automation. As a result of the automation score analysis, it was concluded that the need for automation of concrete placing work was the highest. Based on this study, we will consider the strategy of a concrete construction automation system.

  • The construction R&D(Research & Development) has various performance according to research charater. But present performance evaluation form evaluates project rather than charater of research. The important reasons that evaluats the performance are to try conclusions with evaluated objects in the short run, but to forecast the performance of future construction R&D and to get the better performance. Thus this study extracts the RPI(Research Performanc Index) with output as the conter, developes the estimation method and measures the quantitative performance. Applying the ANOVA(Analysis of Variance), it is proved that the performance according to research charater is various. And applying the Correspondence Analysis, it is analised the relationship with performance and research charater. The purposes of this study are to idetify the problem of uniform performance evaluation and to improve it.

  • The Korean housing supply have been provided by the Pre-construction sales system. The Pre-construction sales system contributed to large housing supply. But it followed by the market anomaly. Along the housing market is changing to tile market for consumers, it requires new policy and regulations. This market changes and needs to modify the policy make a discussion about introducing the Post-construction sales system. it concerns to change the time to sale. This paper analyzes the present feasibility study and makes a tool to predict construction cashflow considering changed sales point. The sales timing leads to decide the amount of financial costs in the construction project and that cost affects to the feasibility. The accurate cashflow prediction is required for a successful apartment construction delivery.
