  • The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a competency tool for new nurses and to pilot-test it with new nurses. A Delphi survey was conducted to develop a competency tool, and a self-evaluation was conducted among new nurses who pilot-tested the finally derived competencies. The Delphi survey panel consisted of 18 people, including adjunct professors at the College of Nursing, nursing managers, and nurses with master's degrees. The Delphi survey asked about the validity of the competencies constructed in two rounds. After analyzing the Delphi results with mean, standard deviation, content validity ratio, degrees of convergence, and degrees of consensus, 12 core competencies and 36 enabling competencies were finally derived. The competencies consisted of clinical judgment and management (nine items), task competence (four items), patient orientation (five items), moral value orientation (three items), cooperation (two items), supply management (two items), professional development (three items), confidence (one item), self-control (two items), flexibility (two items), influence (one item), and nurturing others (two items). The finally derived competencies were pilot-tested with 229 new nurses who had worked for 2-12 months. The self-evaluation scores of new nurses were distributed differently according to their working period. In this study, the competencies required for new nurses were identified and the corresponding enabling competencies were identified. In the future, it is expected that a competency-based education program will be prepared based on these findings, and furthermore, it will be possible to provide high-quality medical and nursing services that meet patients' needs by improving the competency of new nurses and lowering the turnover rate.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a diagnostic tool to strengthen the reading competencies of children and adolescents with disabilities, analyze its validity and reliability, and present basic data for the development of a diagnostic program. For this study, it was conducted on literature and case studies, the Delphi Method, and a preliminary survey of actual disabled children/adolescents. As a result of the study, there were limitations in validity and reliability analysis due to the small number of samples, but basic data was secured along with the development of a prototype diagnostic tool for the reading ability of children and adolescents with disabilities. It was proposed to develop the future reading competency diagnostic program by expanding it to the web and mobile platforms, considering various variables such as the characteristics of each disability type, a plan for data collection and utilization through big data, diagnostic procedures, and precautions during the diagnosis.

Also, the three-way interaction among job competency, self-leadership and organizational culture affects job performance in a positive way. It is our contribution that we introduce the factors suggested from different research streams explaining job performance and attempt to combine them in a single integrative model.

The data was collected using questionnaires from 212 nursing students who were 3rd and 4th years in 2 nursing universities in Daejeon, September 2014. Data was analyzed using Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression with IBM SPSS 21. Significant relationships were found among self-esteem, empathy, communication skill and clinical competency in nursing students. The result of stepwise multiple regression indicates that communication skill and self-esteem (F=37.010, p<.001) predicts 26.2% in clinical competency. The most powerful predictor was communication skill(${\beta}$=.384, p<.001), next one was self-esteem(${\beta}$=.283, p<.001). • The purpose of this study is to categorize and analyze the communication competency of engineering undergraduates and to develop educational content in order to improve that. In this study, communication competency of engineering undergraduates was categorized into three areas: critical thinking, scientific communication, and media literacy. As a means to improve communication competency, the experience with and perception of writing were investigated. The communication competency of undergraduates needs to be improved overall. There is a high need for writing programs that enhance critical thinking oriented around practice. It suggests flipped learning based on smart education, E-community, problem-solving programs based on action learning, cooperative learning programs, reflection journals & portfolio, and collaborative writing programs as educational content. The results of this study can be used as basic data to design competency-based communication curriculum and practical applications for engineering undergraduates.
