For testing a newly designed ship's steering gear, a steering gear test bench with a steering gear to be tested and a load generation part should be prepared. The load given to the steering gear has to be pertinent to the load generated in a targeted ship. In this study, the authors suggest a process of estimating the load given to steering gears in ships. At first, a test for measuring the load in the steering gear of a real ship was conducted. Then, a process was developed to compute rudder driving torque and force by using basic equations including some empirical equations on ship's steering. The test results and the computation results on the load in the steering gear were compared, As a result, the process suggested in this study for estimating load in ship's steering gears was verified.
For the first time in Bangladesh, a bench scale membrane bioreactor (MBR) unit was tested in treating a textile wastewater in the industry premises of EOS Textile Mills LTD, Dhaka for three months. The performance of the unit was compared with that of the conventional activated sludge treatment plant, which is in operation in the same premises. The COD and BOD removal efficiency of the MBR unit reached to around 90% and 80% respectively in 20 days whereas the removal efficiency of the conventional treatment plant was as low as 40-50% and 38-40% respectively. The outlet COD and the BOD level for the MBR unit remained stable in spite of the fluctuation in the feed value, while the conventional effluent treatment plant (ETP) failed to keep any stabilized level. The performance of the MBR unit was much superior to that of the functional ETP and the water treated by the MBR system can meet disposal standard.

In this paper, we extend the multiple time scale control framework to window-based congestion control, in particular, TCP This is performed by interfacing TCP with a large tine scale control nodule which adjusts the aggressiveness of bandwidth consumption behavior exhibited by TCP as a function of "large time scale" network state. i.e., conformation that exceeds the horizon of the feedback loop as determined by RTT Our contribution is threefold. First, we define a modular extension of TCP-a function call with a simple interface-that applies to various flavors of TCP-e.g., Tahoe, Reno, Vegas and show that it significantly improves performance. Second, we show that multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with preactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance. Performance evaluation of multiple time scale TCP is facilitated by a simulation bench-mark environment which is based on physical modeling of self-similar traffic.

The wideband chirp signal generator to enhance the resolution of synthetic aperture radar of obtaining the earth observation image is needed. This paper deals with designing, manufacturing and testing the wideband digital chirp signal generator having high resolution for LEO earth observation satellite. The wideband digital chirp signal generator is implemented with the memory-map based structure which is mostly applied in the satellite, and consists of the digital module to generate the digital chirp signal and the RF module to perform the quadrature modulation. The I/Q signals stored in the memory of the digital module are D/A converted and delivered to be quadrature modulated with the reference signal of 1275 MHz in the RF module. Furthermore, the test bench and GUI to validate the signal generator function are also developed. It is found that the requirement of 144 MHz bandwidth for the digital chirp signal generator is well met. Finally it is noteworthy that the distortion occurred in the chirp signal generator was compensated by the pre-distortion compensation.
According to the investigation of waste $CO_2$ molding sand in the 15 steel foundries in Busan and Gyeong area, about 1 ton of waste $CO_2$ molding sand per ton of steel castings production was produced In order to reduce amount of $Na_2O$, Loss of Boiling (L.O.B), Loss of Ignition (L.O.I), Conductivity and PH which are present in the waste $CO_2$ molding sand below the reclamation effect, more than 50% of elimination for reclamation was required. It was found that the waste $CO_2$ molding sand does not contain a harmful component designated by industrial waste materials. Reclamation of the waste $CO_2$ molding sand was practically achieved by an abrasive-dry reclamation process. According to bench time of the sodium silicate-bonded $CO_2$ molding sand, reduction of compressive strength and surface stability index(S.S.I) become slowdown. Therefore, the reclaimed sand could be allowed the reuse of molding sand in $CO_2$ molding process including core sand.
Runoff of non-point pollutants has affected bad influence to water quality of river as reaching within short time. For this reason, reducing them prior to reaching aquatic systems or treating them after collection from discharge process of pollutants are desirable for efficient treatment of pollutants. This study was carried out to develop an ecotechnological method to prevent further aggravation of water quality by non-point source through vegetation filter strips. This study has placed a focus on improving infiltration capacity of soil for the optimum condition of vegetation filter strips. Therefore, we used titled soil filter strips instead of vegetation filter strips in this study. The three types of soil tilter strips were used in a bench scale experiment before applying to the field. The reduction efficiency of pollutants in soil filter strips (SS $84.5{\sim}92.5%$, BOD $67.9{\sim}80.6%$, T-N $43.4{\sim}76.6%$, T-P $40.6{\sim}87.4%$, Cu $28.3{\sim}48.1%$ Fe $92.1{\sim}97.7%$, Pb $81.4{\sim}97.3%$) was much higher than that of the controled group. And non-point pollutants reduction efficiency by soil filter strip's forms was estimated to be distinguishing in order of bio material, mixture of sand and gravel and lastly the whole gravel. In the event, the whole reduction efficiency of pollutants on the soil filter strips disclosed good results.

In this research, a polyester manufacturing company (i.e. K Co.) in Gumi, South Korea was investigated regarding the release of high concentrations of 1,4-dioxane(about 600 mg/L) and whether treatment prior to release should occur to meet with the level of the regulation standard (e.g., 5 mg/L in 2011). The pilot-scale (reactor volume, 10 $m^3$) treatment system using Photo-Fenton Oxidation was able to remove approximately 90% of 1,4-dioxane under the conditions that concentrations of 2,800 ppm $H_2O_2$ and 1,400 ppm $FeSO_4$ were maintained along with 10 UV-C lamps (240 ${\mu}W/cm^2$) illuminated during aeration. However, the effluent concentration of 1,4-dioxane was still high at about 60 mg/L. Thus, further investigation is needed to see whether the bench scale (reactor volume, 8.9 L) of activated sludge could facilitate the decomposition of 1,4-dioxane. As a result, 1,4-dioxane in the effluent has been decreased as low as about 2~3 mg/L. Consequently, Photo-Fenton Oxidation coupled with activated sludge process can make it possible to efficiently decompose 1,4-dioxane to keep up with that of the regulation standard.
Reasoners using typical Tableaux algorithm such as RacerPro, Pellet have a problem in Tableaux algorithm large ABox reasoning. Researches to solve these Problems are dealt with Instance Store of University of Manchester which uses Tableaux algorithm based reasoner and DBMS and KAON2 of University of Karlsruhe using Disjunctive Datalog approach. An evaluation experiment for present reasoners is the experiment of TBox reasoning in most of Tableaux algorithm based one. The most of benchmarking tests in reasoning systems haven't done with ABox reasoning based Tableaux Algorithm but done with TBox reasoning based Tableaux Algorithm. Especially, rarely reported benchmarking tests in reasoners have been issued nowadays. Therefore, this thesis evaluates systems with theory of each reasoners for large ABox reasoning that becomes issues recently with typical reasoners. The large AoBx reasoning engine will be analyzed using Instance Store and KAON2 of Manchester University for large ABox processing. At the analysing method, LUBM(Lehigh University BenchMark), benchmarking test method, and it's test system will be introduced. In conclusion, I recommend appropriate reasoner in various environment with experiment result and characteristic of algorithm used for each reasoner.
This study is aimed at suggesting information about technical choices for designing LED camping lights based on emotional lighting contents of integrated IOT and design areas which take a central role in creation and knowledge based industries and the procedure for materializing them. 'i-Light,' a portable LED camping light, is 'connected lighting' connecting men, space and emotion and a smart camping light based on IOT and emotional lighting contents. 'i-Light' has two functions. One is about lighting for adjusting color and color temperature naturally and the other is about safety for detecting harmful gases. 'i-Light' also has various emotional functions for experiencing interaction and taste of light. For the purpose, portable LED camping lights were designed, first of all, and then a highly color rendering/full-color lighting module, a smart sensor module and an IOT device platform were developed. In addition, efforts were made to establish detailed data about emotional lighting contents and to develop a Web application based on them. Finally, prototypes of portable LED camping lights were made to get a test bench and usability evaluation from related organizations. According to the results, all of 12 developed emotional lighting contents and three IOT safety sensors were suitable and prototypes were satisfactory. This paper will suggest a direction about actual technical choices for development of contents and products integrating artificial intelligence and big data and about the procedure for materializing them.
