REAL HYPERSURFACES WITH ξ-PARALLEL RICCI TENSOR IN A COMPLEX SPACE FORM

  • We prove that if a real hypersurface with constant mean curvature of a complex space form satisfying ▽$_{ξ/}$S = 0 and Sξ = $\sigma$ξ for a smooth function $\sigma$, then the structure vector field ξ is principal, where S denotes the Ricci tensor of the hypersurface.

  • It is recently proved by Aiyama and the authors [2] that a complete space-like complex submanifold of a complex space form $M^{n+p}$$_{p}$ (c') (c'.geq.0) is to totally geodesic. This is a complex version of the Bernstein-type theorem in the Minkowski space due to Calabi [4] and Cheng and Yau [5], which is generalized by Nishikawa[7] in the Lorentz manifold satisfying the strong energy condition. The π-extending Property via Singular Quotient Submodules

  • A module is said to be ${\pi}$-extending provided that every projection invariant submodule is essential in a direct summand of the module. In this article, we focus on the class of modules having the ${\pi}$-extending property by looking at the singularity of quotient submodules. By doing so, we provide counterexamples, using hypersurfaces in projective spaces over complex numbers, to show that being generalized ${\pi}$-extending is not inherited by direct summands. Moreover, it is shown that the direct sums of generalized ${\pi}$-extending modules are generalized ${\pi}$-extending.

  • We define a quarter-symmetric non-metric connection in an almost r-paracontact Riemannian manifold and we consider the submanifolds of an almost r-paracontact Riemannian manifold endowed with a quarter-symmetric non-metric connection. We also obtain the Gauss, Codazzi and Weingarten equations and the curvature tensor for the submanifolds of an almost r-paracontact Riemannian manifold endowed with a quarter-symmetric non-metric connection.

  • We use the so-called pseudoinversion of degenerate metrics technique on foliated compact null hypersurface, $M^{n+1}$, in Lorentzian manifold ${\overline{M}}^{n+2}$, to derive an integral formula involving the r-th order mean curvatures of its foliations, ${\mathcal{F}}^n$. We apply our formula to minimal foliations, showing that, under certain geometric conditions, they are isomorphic to n-dimensional spheres. We also use the formula to deduce expressions for total mean curvatures of such foliations.

  • Let M be a real hypersurface with almost contact metric structure (��, ξ, ��, g) in a nonflat complex space form Mn(c). We denote S and Rξ by the Ricci tensor of M and by the structure Jacobi operator with respect to the vector field ξ respectively. In this paper, we prove that M is a Hopf hypersurface of type (A) in Mn(c) if it satisfies Rξ�� = ��Rξ and at the same time satisfies $({\nabla}_{{\phi}{\nabla}_{\xi}{\xi}}R_{\xi}){\xi}=0$ or Rξ��S = S��Rξ.

  • Let M be a real hypersurface with almost contact metric structure (ϕ, ��, η, g) in a nonflat complex space form Mn(c). We denote S and R�� by the Ricci tensor of M and by the structure Jacobi operator with respect to the vector field �� respectively. In this paper, we prove that M is a Hopf hypersurface of type A in Mn(c) if it satisfies R��ϕ = ϕR�� and at the same time R��(Sϕ - ϕS) = 0.

  • In this paper, we obtain an inequality involving the squared norm of the covariant differentiation of the shape operator for a real hypersurface in nonflat complex space forms. It is proved that the equality holds for non-Hopf case if and only if the hypersurface is ruled and the equality holds for Hopf case if and only if the hypersurface is of type (A).

  • Let X be a smooth hypersurface X of degree d ≥ 4 in a projective space ℙn+1. We consider a projection of X from p ∈ ℙn+1 to a plane H ≅ ℙn. This projection induces an extension of function fields ℂ(X)/ℂ(ℙn). The point p is called a Galois point if the extension is Galois. In this paper, we will give necessary and sufficient conditions for X to have Galois points by using linear automorphisms.

  • In this paper, we establish the curvature estimates for a class of curvature equations with general right hand sides depending on the gradient. We show an existence result by using the continuity method based on a priori estimates. We also derive interior curvature bounds for solutions of a class of curvature equations subject to affine Dirichlet data.
