송지암-석회계 ALC에 대한 수열반응 특성 - 배합비에 따른 영향 (Hydrothermal Reaction Characteristics on the ALC of Pitchstone-Lime System)

  • Pitchstone reacted with CaO in hot water(9$0^{\circ}C$) and increased its sedimentary volume by forming Ca(OH)2 and calcium silicate hydrates. ALC was prepared from gel at 9$0^{\circ}C$ and subsequently autoclaved at 18$0^{\circ}C$ by using the property of swelling and the physical properties of ALC was investigated with experimental conditions. When the ratio of pitchstone/CaO was 2 (CaO/SiO2 mol ratio=0.81), bulk density, modulus of rupture and thermal conductivity of the ALC were 0.75g/㎤, 73kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ 0.150 kcal/m.hr.$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline phase of it was mainly tobermorite. Therefore ALC was turned out to be much lightweighted and good thermal insulation.

수열합성 법에 의한 $BaTiO_3$ 분말제조 및 방전 플라즈마 소결 (Characterization of Hydrothermally Synthesized $BaTiO_3$ Powder and Spark Plasma Sintering(SPS))

  • $BaTiO_3$ fine powder was synthesized by hydrothermal process from the mixture of titania-hydroxide($TiO_2{\cdot}xH_2O$) and barium hexa-hydroxide ($Ba(OH)_2{\cdot}8H_2O$) as starting materials. Fine powder(< 100 nm) was made under the reaction conditions of 18$0^{\circ}C$,10 atm, 1.5 hr in autoclave and showed cubic structure. The powders were sintered by a spark plasma sintering technique from 1050~115$0^{\circ}C$ for 5 min. The grains of sample sintered at 110$0^{\circ}C$ were about 0.9${\mu}m$ in average size and showed the mixture of cubic and tetragonal structures.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Magnetic Properties of $RbV_2SeO_7$ as Compared with $KV_2SeO_7$

  • Crystalline compound RbV2SeO7, a Rb analogue of KV2SeO7, was synthesized from a hydrothermal reaction of V2O5, V2O3, SeO2, and Rb2CO3 in the mole ratio 3: 1: 15: 6 (in millimoles) at 230℃. RbV2SeO7 crystallizes in an orthorhombic space group Pnma (No. 62) with a=18.444(8), b=5.415(3), c=7.070(4) Å, Z=8. The two structures of KV2SeO7 and RbV2SeO7 are almost the same except that bond lengths in the latter are slightly longer than in the former. The magnetic susceptibility measurement for RbV2SeO7 in the temperature range 4-300 K showed an antiferromagnetic ordering with TN=45 K, higher than that for KV2SeO7 of 27 K. The origin of the magnetic coupling and the different ordering temperatures in the two phases are discussed in relation to the crystal structures.

Study of Fabrication and Improvement of Mechanical Properties of Mg-based Inorganic Fiber using Reflux Process and Silica Coating

  • Whisker-type magnesium hydroxide sulfate hydrate ($5Mg(OH)_2{\cdot}MgSO_4{\cdot}3H_2O$, abbreviated 513 MHSH), is used in filler and flame-retardant composites based on its hydrate phase and its ability to undergo endothermic dehydration in fire conditions, respectively. In general, the length of whiskers is determined according to various synthetic conditions in a hydrothermal reaction with high temperature (${\sim}180^{\circ}C$). In this work, high-quality 513 MHSH whiskers are synthesized by controlling the concentration of the raw material in ambient conditions without high pressure. Particularly, the concentration of the starting material is closely related to the length, width, and purity of MHSH. In addition, a ceramic-coating system is adopted to enhance the mechanical properties and thermal stability of the MHSH whiskers. The physical properties of the silica-coated MHSH are characterized by an abrasion test, thermogravimetric analysis, and transmission electron microscopy.

Valorization of galactose into levulinic acid via acid catalysis

  • We applied methanesulfonic acid (MSA) as a green catalyst to produce levulinic acid (LA) from monomeric sugars. To optimize reaction factors and assess the effect of reciprocal interactions, a statistical experimental design was applied. Optimized result of 40.7% LA yield was obtained under the following conditions: 60 g/L galactose, 0.4 M MSA at $188^{\circ}C$ for 26.7 min. On the other hand, 66.1% LA yield was achieved under 60 g/L fructose and 0.4 M MSA at $188^{\circ}C$ for 36 min conditions. For the effect of combined severity factor on the LA yield from galactose, the LA yield showed a peaked pattern, which was linearly increased until a CSF 3.2 and then diminished with a high CSF. Moreover, it was closely fitted to a non-linear Gaussian peak pattern with a high regression value of 0.989. These results suggest that MSA and galactose, derived from marine red macro-algae, can potentially be applied for the conversion into platform chemicals.

  • The title compound, $\{H_2NCH_2CH_2NH_2CH_2CH_2\}\{Cu(H_2O)_6\}(SO_4)_2$, I, has been synthesized under solvo/hydrothermal conditions and their crystal structure analyzed by X-ray single crystallography. Compound I crystallizes in the monoclinic system, $P2_1/n$ space group with a = 6.852(1), b = 10.160(2), $c=11.893(1){\AA}$, ${\beta}=92.928(8)^{\circ}$, $V=826.9(2){\AA}^3$, Z = 2, $D_x=1.815g/cm^3$, $R_1=0.031$ and ${\omega}R_2=0.084$. The crystal structure of the piperazine templated Cu(II)-sulfate demonstrate zero-dimensional compound constituted by doubly protonated piperazine cations, hexahydrated copper cations and sulfate anions. The central Cu atom has a elongated octahedral coordination geometry. The crystal structure is stabilized by three-dimensional networks of the intermolecular $O_{water}-H{\cdots}O_{sulfate}$ and $N_{pip}-H{\cdots}O_{sulfate}$ hydrogen bonds between the water molecules and sulfate anions and protonated piperazine cations. Based on the results of thermal analysis, the thermal decomposition reaction of compound I was analyzed to have three distinctive stages.

Synthesis, Structures and Photoluminescent Properties of Two Novel Zinc(II) Compounds Constructed from 5-Sulfoisophthalic Acid

  • Hydrothermal reaction of zinc(II) salts with 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt ($NaO_3SC_6H_3$-1,3-(COOH)$_2$, $NaH_2$-SIP) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) led to two new compounds, [Zn(phen)$_3$$\cdot2H_2SIP\cdot4H_2O$ (1) and [Zn(phen)$_2(H_2O)_2]\cdot2H_2SIP\cdot2H_2O$ (2). They were characterized by element analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermalgravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both compounds 1-2 represent the first example of Zn/phen/SIP system. The Zn (II) ion in 1 is six-coordinated by six nitrogen atoms from three phen molecules, and the $H_2SIP^-$ ligands engage in the formation of hydrogen bond. The Zn(II) ion in 2 is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms from two phen molecules and two oxygen atoms from two water molecules. Moreover, both 1 and 2 are assembled into 3D supramolecular architectures by hydrogen bonds (O-H$\ldots$O) and $\pi-\pi$ interactions. Solvent water molecules occupying voids of the compounds serve as receptors or donors of the extensive O-H$\ldots$O hydrogen bonds.

  • 1,2-Bis(4-pyridyl)ethane 존재 하에서, $La(NO_3)_3{\cdot}6H_2O$와 benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid($H_2$BDC)가 수열반응하여 〔$La_4$$(BDC)_6$$($H_2$O)_5$〕($H_2$O) (1) 실험식을 갖는 2차원 lanthanum-BDC 배위 고분자가 합성되었다. 화합물의 1의 구조 분석 결과, 이 고분자는 분명히 구별되는 4개의 La금속들을 함유하고 있었다. 3개의 La금속들은 7-배위를 하고 있으며, 이들은 "모자 씌운(capped)"삼각 프리즘, "모자 씌운" 정팔면체, 그리고 오각쌍뿔등의 다른 구조들을 가지고 있다. 나머지 La금속은 8-배위, 사각 반프리즘 (antiprismatic)구조를 가지고 있다.

  • The Yeongdo Island in Busan City is a remnant of the latest Cretaceous volcano, and consists geologically of andesites, rhyolite tuff, pelitic and psammitic hornfelses, lapilli rhyodacite tuff of the Yucheon Group, felsite and felsite porphyry of the Bulgugsa intrusives, and Holocene sediments in ascending order. The hornfelses are bound to the Taejongdae Formation. The stratigraphic position of the Formation is determined definitely into the Yucheon Group, thus the geologic age is approximately the same with the volcanic rocks of the Group. The sediments had been thermally metamorphosed to make pelitic and psammitic hornfelses of the albite epidote hornfels facies by the effects of active hydrothermal circulation, vaporization, and hybridization of andesitic solution, or of basification of acidic intrusives. Thus, on occasion, those hornfelses are not used to be distinguished from the andesitic rocks in the southeastern part of the Korean peninsula. The paleocurrent direction determined from several cross-beddings of the Taejongdae Formation is suggested to be from southwest to northeast. Orbicular rocks occur in hornfelsed rhyolite tuff, pelitic- and psammitic-hornfelses, and felsite porphyry at a lot of outcrops in the area of southwestern shoreline of the Yeongdo Island. Orbicules in rhyolite tuff and hornfels in the island might have originated from diffusion processes of metasomatic metamorphism carried out by hydrothermal solution rised from the intrusive adamellite which may be emplaced deeply under the Yeongdo volcanics. Those orbicules are due to metasomatic, secondary, and epigenetic origin. Proto-, multi-shelled, and multi-cored orbicules are described in the orbicular tuff. But multi-cored orbicules are not found in the orbicular fornfels. 250 tuff-orbicules numbered sporadically are in $20,000m^2$ area of the locality of orbicular tuff. About 60 hornfels-orbicules occurred sporadically are in $1,700m^2$ area of the locality of orbicular hornfels in the Taejongdae Formation. Orbicules in felsite porphyry might have originated by diffusion reaction between xenoliths and a quiescent zone in felsite porphyry magma. Those are of igneous, primary, and syngenetic origin.

저비용 염료감응 태양전지를 위한 방추형 Fe2O3 나노입자가 코팅된 탄소나노섬유 복합체 (Spindle-shaped Fe2O3 Nanoparticle Coated Carbon Nanofiber Composites for Low-cost Dye-sensitized Solar Cells)

  • Carbon nanofiber (CNF) composites coated with spindle-shaped $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles (NPs) are fabricated by a combination of an electrospinning method and a hydrothermal method, and their morphological, structural, and chemical properties are measured by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. For comparison, CNFs and spindle-shaped $Fe_2O_3$ NPs are prepared by either an electrospinning method or a hydrothermal method, respectively. Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) fabricated with the composites exhibit enhanced open circuit voltage (0.70 V), short-circuit current density ($12.82mA/cm^2$), fill factor (61.30%), and power conversion efficiency (5.52%) compared to those of the CNFs (0.66 V, $11.61mA/cm^2$, 51.96%, and 3.97%) and spindle-shaped $Fe_2O_3$ NPs (0.67 V, $11.45mA/cm^2$, 50.17%, and 3.86%). This performance improvement can be attributed to a synergistic effect of a superb catalytic reaction of spindle-shaped $Fe_2O_3$ NPs and efficient charge transfer relative to the one-dimensional nanostructure of the CNFs. Therefore, spindle-shaped $Fe_2O_3$-NP-coated CNF composites may be proposed as a potential alternative material for low-cost counter electrodes in DSSCs.
