The layered lithium-manganese oxide ($Li_2MnO_3$) as a cathode material of lithium ion secondary batteries was prepared and characterized the physico-chemical and electrochemical properties. The morphological and structural changes of MnO(OH) and $Li_2MnO_3$ are closely connected to the changes of electrochemical properties. The crystallinity of $Li_2MnO_3$ is enhanced as the annealing temperature increase, but its capacity is reduced due to the easier structural changes of less crystalline $Li_2MnO_3$ than highly crystalline one. Moreover, the addition of buffer material such as MnO(OH) into cathode causes to reduce the morphological and structural changes of layered $Li_2MnO_3$ and increase the discharge capacity and cycleability.

The recycling of waste concrete is increasing for the environment protection and the shortage of aggregate according to the large scale construction project in Korea. The more manufacturing high quality recycled aggregate is produced, the more waste concrete powder generated from the manufacture process of recycled aggregate, and the consideration about the recycling of waste concrete powder is need. Waste concrete powder was used for the partial replacement of silica powder, which is a main raw material for the manufacture of autoclave foamed concrete. According to the results of research, the slurry density, flow, compressive strength mainly depend on the replacement ratio of particle size and waste concrete powder. At the SEM analysis, the more high-waste concrete powder was the less there are generated tobermorite. But we conclude that it is possible to replace WCP as silica source in the manufacture of the lightweight foamed concrete.

$AI_2O_3/Ca-TZP$ composites was prepared by using the starting powder of alumina and Ca-TZP synthesized by hydrothermal reaction and investigated to its characteristics. The ratio of tetragonal zirconia to monoclinic within $AI_2O_3$ matrix was decreased with an addition of Ca-TZP content, but the absolute amount of tetragonal phase in composites was increased with an addition of Ca-TZP content. The value of fracture toughness in $AI_2O_3/Ca-TZP$composites was proportional to the amounts of transformed tetragonal phase which formed by crack propagation in fracture, and therefore, it was gradually increased with an addition of Ca- TZP content.
In this study, we report the mercury ions ($Hg^{2+}$) mediated phosphorus-containing carbon dots (PCDs) as a selective "off-on" fluorescence probe for glutathione (GSH), cysteine (Cys) and homocysteine (Hcys). PCDs obtained by hydrothermal reaction are sensitive to $Hg^{2+}$ ions and its fluorescence can be significantly quenched owing to the electron transfer from the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of PCDs to $Hg^{2+}$. Interestingly, the weak fluorescence of $Hg^{2+}$-mediated PCDs could be gradually recovered with the addition of GSH, Cys and Hcys. This can be attributed to the formation of $Hg^{2+}-S$ complex due to the super affinity of $Hg^{2+}$-sulfydryl bond. The formation of $Hg^{2+}-S$ complex extremely reduces the oxidation ability of $Hg^{2+}$ that inhibits the electron transfer from LUMO of PCDs to $Hg^{2+}$ and re-opens the native electron transition from LUMO to the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of PCDs. Thus, the green fluorescence of PCDs is switched on. Furthermore, the present $Hg^{2+}$-mediated PCDs assay exhibits a high selectivity for GSH, Cys and Hcy and has been successfully used to detect the total biothiols content in human urine samples.
Three-dimensional (3D) mixed phases NiSe nanoparticles growing on the nickel foam were synthesized via a simple one-step hydrothermal method. A series of experiments were carried out to control the morphology by adjusting the amount of selenium in the synthetic reaction. Meanwhile, the as-prepared novel column-acicular structure NiSe exist three advantages including ideal electrical conductivity, high specific capacity and high cycling stability. It delivered a high capacitance of $10.8F\;cm^{-2}$ at a current density- of $5mA\;cm^{-2}$. An electrochemical capacitor device operating at 1.6 V was then constructed using NiSe/NF and activated carbon (AC) as positive and negative electrodes. Moreover, the device showed high energy density of $31W\;h\;kg^{-1}$ at a power density of $0.81kW\;kg^{-1}$, as well as good cycling stability (77% retention after 1500 cycles).
In this study, cobalt diselenide ($CoSe_2$) and the composites ($CoSe_2@RGO$) of $CoSe_2$ and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal reaction using cobalt ions and selenide source with or without graphene oxide (GO). The formation of $CoSe_2@RGO$ composites was identified by analysis with X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrochemical analyses demonstrated that the $CoSe_2@RGO$ composites have excellent catalytic activity for the reduction of $I_3{^-}$, possibly indicating a synergetic effect of $CoSe_2$ and RGO. As a consequence, the $CoSe_2@RGO$ composites were applied as a counter electrode in DSSC for the reduction of redox couple electrolyte, and exhibiting the comparable power conversion efficiency (7.01%) to the rare metal platinum (Pt) based photovoltaic device (6.77%).
We report the growth and enhanced photoelectrochemcial (PEC) water-splitting reactivity of few-layer MoS2 nanosheets on TiO2 nanowires. TiO2 nanowires with lengths of ~1.5 ~ 2.0 ㎛ and widths of ~50~300 nm are synthesized on fluorine-doped tin oxide substrates at 180 ℃ using hydrothermal methods with Ti(C4H9O)4. Few-layer MoS2 nanosheets with heights of ~250 ~ 300 nm are vertically grown on TiO2 nanowires at a moderate growth temperature of 300 ℃ using metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. The MoS2 nanosheets on TiO2 nanowires exhibit typical Raman and ultraviolet-visible light absorption spectra corresponding to few-layer thick MoS2. The PEC performance of the MoS2 nanosheet/TiO2 nanowire heterostructure is superior to that of bare TiO2 nanowires. MoS2/TiO2 heterostructure shows three times higher photocurrent than that of bare TiO2 nanowires at 0.6 V. The enhanced PEC photocurrent is attributed to improved light absorption of MoS2 nanosheets and efficient charge separation through the heterojunction. The photoelectrode of the MoS2/TiO2 heterostructure is stably sustained during on-off switching PEC cycle.
A zeolite material with a Si/Al molar ratio of 1.2 was synthesized by changing the NaOH/CFA ratio of coal fly ash (CFA) via a fusion/hydrothermal reaction in the HD thermal power plant. The change in the crystal structure of the zeolite was confirmed using XRD and SEM, and the ammonia adsorption capacities of the synthesized zeolitic materials and a commercial zeolite (Na-A zeolite) were analyzed via an ammonia temperature-programmed desorption (NH3-TPD) process. The SEM and XRD results revealed out the zeolitic materials from the coal fly ash maintained a hexagonal Linde-type crystal structure similar to that of Na-A zeolite, but the crystallinity of the synthesized zeolitic material was reduced due to impurities. The NH3 adsorption capacity, determined from the NH3-TPD analysis of was 1.122 mmol/g of the synthesized zeolitic material, which was lower than the NH3 adsorption capacity of the Na-A zeolite.

Hydro-thermal liquefaction technology for rapeseed straws was investigated the biomass conversion rate with different catalysts and reaction temperatures. NaOH and KOH were used for catalysts, and the reaction temperature were ranged from 180 to $320^{\circ}C$ at every $20^{\circ}C$ of intervals for 10 minutes. The reaction was carried out in a 5,000 mL liquefaction system with dispenser and external electrical furnace. Raw materials (160g), 2,000 mL of distilled water and 10% (wt/wt) of catalyst to plant residue were fed into the reactor. It was observed that the maximum crude oil yield was about 36% at temperature range, $260{\sim}280^{\circ}C$ with KOH and at $300^{\circ}C$ with NaOH, respectively. It was observed that the more calorific values of crude oil, the higher reaction temperature with KOH, but it had the reverse pattern in NaOH.

Biorefineries, in which renewable resources are utilized, are an eco-friendly alternative based on biomass feedstocks. Alginic acid, a major component of brown algae, which is a type of marine biomass, is widely used in various industries and can be converted into value-added chemicals such as sugars, sugar alcohols, furans, and organic acids via catalytic hydrothermal decomposition under certain conditions. In this study, ruthenium-supported activated carbon and magnesium oxide were mixed and applied to the depolymerization of alginic acid in a batch reactor. The addition of magnesium oxide as a basic promoter had a strong influence on product distribution. In this heterogeneous catalytic system, the separation and purification processes are also simplified. After the reaction, low molecular weight alcohols and organic acids with 5 or fewer carbons were produced. Specifically, under the optimal reaction conditions of 30 mL of 1 wt% alginic acid aqueous solution, 100 mg of ruthenium-supported activated carbon, 100 mg of magnesium oxide, 210 ℃ of reaction temperature, and 1 h of reaction time, total carbon yields of 29.8% for alcohols and 43.8% for a liquid product were obtained. Hence, it is suggested that this catalytic system results in the enhanced hydrogenolysis of alginic acid to value-added chemicals.
