  • This paper deals with the free vibrations of horizontally curved beams supported by non-homogeneous elastic foundation. Taking into account the effects of rotatory inertia and shear deformation, differential equations governing the free vibrations of such beams are derived, in which the linear elastic foundation is considered as the non-homogeneous foundation. Differential equations are solved numerically to calculate natural frequencies. In numerical examples, the parabolic curved member is considered. The parametric studies are conducted and the lowest four frequency parameters are reported in tables and figures as the non-dimensional forms.

  • Let M be a curvature homogeneous or ball-homogeneous non-$coK{\ddot{a}}hler$ almost $coK{\ddot{a}}hler$ 3-manifold. In this paper, we prove that M is locally isometric to a unimodular Lie group if and only if the Reeb vector field ${\xi}$ is an eigenvector field of the Ricci operator. To extend this result, we prove that M is homogeneous if and only if it satisfies ${\nabla}_{\xi}h=2f{\phi}h$, $f{\in}{\mathbb{R}}$.

  • The effect of the specifications of a silicon-on-insulator vertical slot optical waveguide on the sensitivity of homogeneous and surface sensing configurations for TE and TM polarization, respectively, was systematically analyzed using numerical software. The specifications were optimized based on the confinement factor and transmission power of the TE-guided mode distributed in the slot. The waveguide sensitivities of homogeneous and surface sensing were calculated according to the specifications of the optimized slot optical waveguide.

  • In this paper, we will describe affine homogeneous domains in the complex plane. For this study, we deal with the Lie algebra of infinitesimal affine transformations, a structure of the hyperbolic metric involved with affine automorphisms. As a consequence, an affine homogeneous domain is affine equivalent to the complex plane, the punctured plane or the half plane.

  • A flywheel-driven rapid compression and expansion machine is developed and utilized for experimental study of homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion. Compression ignition of homogeneous charge in IC engines offers possibilities of realizing ultra-lean engine operation with greatly reduced NOx and particulate formation. Fundamental investigations are carried out in order to better understand this ideal engine combustion mechanism. Perfectly premixed propane-air mixtures of various equivalence ratio are compression-ignited in the rapid compression and expansion machine, and the characteristics of the auto-ignition and the following combustion process are analyzed.

  • Silver particles were synthesized from silver nitrate by homogeneous precipitation and chemical reduction methods involving the intermediate silver cyanate. The obtained silver particles were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, and BET. Urea which could prevent the agglomeration of the reduced silver particles was used as a homogeneous precipitator. The spherical silver particles with average particle diameter of 100 nm were obtained under the optimum reaction conditions. The optimum synthetic conditions were found as follows: reaction temperature $100^{\circ}C$, reaction time 60 min, concentration of silver nitrate $1{\times}10^{-2}$ mol, urea $5{\times}10^{-3}$ mol, and sodium citrate $8.5{\times}10^{-4}$ mol. The phase of obtained silver particles was crystalline state and the silver particles were relatively dense, which had the surface area of $0.7571\;m^{2}/g$.

  • Multiple discrete Hilbert type inequalities are established in the case of non-homogeneous kernel function by means of Laplace integral representation of associated Dirichlet series. Using newly derived integral expressions for the Mordell-Tornheim Zeta function a set of subsequent special cases, interesting by themselves, are obtained as corollaries of the main inequality.

  • A quasidimensional program is developed for a four stroke cycle homogeneous GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engine. It includes models for spray, burning rate and chemistry to predict knock and emissions. With early injection a homogeneous GDI engine goes through spark ignited, turbulent premixed combustion as in PFI (Port Fuel Injection) engines. The cylinder charge is divided into unburned and burned zone with the latter divided into multiple zones of equal mass to resolve temperature stratification. Validation is performed against measured pressure traces, NOx and CO emissions at different load and RPM conditions. Comparison is made between an empirical knock model and predictions by the chemistry model in this work.
