We show some methods of assessment that are compatible with the class using the handheld graphing technology. These methods are adjustable to students' learning during class, homework after class or in regular exams. As a feedback of these methods we give students additional opportunity to understand concepts by giving additional concept provoking problems or giving additional help if necessary.

  • This paper aims to design and implement a robot that will help teach children living habits and English conversation education in dual-income families using the open platform robot Q.bo one based on raspberry pi3 of a single board computer. The first function of life habit formation is to help children to wash their hands, to brush their teeth, homework and sleep regularly. The child is then photographed listening to the notification and acting so that the parent can identify and provide feedback. The second basic conversation education feature uses Google's DialogFlow to help children learn English naturally through simple English conversation through the robot. The two-functioning robot allows children from working families to feel secure by printing their parents' voices even when they are not at home. At the same time, it allows them to get into basic lifestyle, to have basic English conversation with robots, and to be interested in English early.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate diversity in the situations of multicultural families regarding the education of their children and to suggest rational ways of educating children in multicultural families. The participants in this study were 16 mothers from multicultural families typically characterized by an international marriage in which a Korean male had married a non-Korean female. The data were collected using intensive interviews over a course of three months and were analyzed by grounded theory. The results of this study showed that the participants had difficulty in adapting to the styles of educating children in Korean families and that they could not help their children do homework by themselves due to the limited personal relationships, the shortage of information about educating children, and an lack of organized education programs on Korean culture and history. Thus, they solved these problems by depending on different extracurricular activities and thus incurred a financial burden to support these activities. This led to excessive amounts of time and energy to earn the money to support the activities, which gave them few opportunities to acquire information on educating children by, for example, meeting with others. This explained their dependency on different extracurricular activities so as to solve the problem of their educating children. In an effort to seek ways to break this vicious circle, this study emphasized that policies related to educating children in multicultural families should focus on helping multicultural families strengthen their abilities to educate their children fundamentally.

  • This study developed earth science learning materials based on paleolithic remains in the Youngsan River basin to provide students with curiosity and interest of science. These materials consist of four activities such as orientation, tour of museum, field trip to paleolithic sites, and making of remains. More than 60% of the teachers said that these materials are likely to improve the scientific process skills of students and also suggested that these could be applied to club activity, field trip, and homework. In addition, materials seemed to help students to understand the properties of the mineral and rock. We suggested that these materials could broaden teachers' subject of teaching in science.

  • In this paper, we show how a curriculum using LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT robot based ROBOTC for undergraduate students has been developed, and we analyze the educational effect of the curriculum. The curriculum is composed of basic knowledge learning, practice with basic robots, practice with advanced robots, and creative design and implementation of robots. During the three year period since 2009, educational achievement has been analyzed by surveys for 6 classes, 94 students. According to the analysis, the curriculum has highly motivated the students and made them to achieve effectively our educational and academic goals. Also, we observe that the curriculum helped the students to improve their creativity and the problem solving skill, and that the students were autonomously and deeply involved in the homework and the term projects, which made them be very cooperative. Finally, the intensive practice with ROBOTC programming is shown to help students to improve their programming ability of C language.

  • According to domestic and foreign research, one of the common characteristics of good teaching is a variety of class activities. To make 'Business Major English' a good class, the researcher used a variety of class activities such as professor explanation, group activities & presentation, vocabulary quizzes, reading comprehension, homework and test feedback. The participants were 39 junior students who took 'Business Major English' in 2015 and 2016. Data on student perception were gathered from questionnaires. The analysis of the data showed, first, that the class activity the students preferred the most was professor explanation. Second, the class activity which was the most helpful in understanding text content and English sentence structures was professor explanation. Third, there were not many students preferring group activities & presentation and the students found group activities & presentation the least helpful in understanding text content and English sentence structures. Given the results, this study implies that for English class activities, students' preferences and the help they perceive have a relation to the characteristics of a class and students' English proficiency.
