  • The study of non-self-adjoint operator algebras on Hilbert space was only beginned by W.B. Arveson[1] in 1974. Recently, such algebras have been found to be of use in physics, in electrical engineering, and in general systems theory. Of particular interest to mathematicians are reflexive algebras with commutative lattices of invariant subspaces.

  • Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a complex separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space. In this paper, a necessary and sufficient condition is given for an operator T on $\mathcal{H}$ to satisfy that $f(T)$ obeys generalized Weyl's theorem for each function $f$ analytic on some neighborhood of ${\sigma}(T)$. Also we investigate the stability of generalized Weyl's theorem under (small) compact perturbations.

  • For the eigenvalue problem of $Au = \lambda u$ where A is considered as a semi-bounded self-adjoint operator on a Hilbert space, we are used to apply two complentary methods finding upper bounds and lower bounds to the eigenvalues. The most popular method for finding upper bounds may be the Rayleigh-Ritz method which was developed in the 19th century while a method for computing lower bounds may be the method of intermediate eigenvalue problems which has been developed since 1950's. In the method of intermediate eigenvalue problems (IEP), we consider the original operator eigenvalue problem as a perturbation of a simpler, resolvable, self-adjoint eigenvalue problem, called a base problem, that gives rough lower bounds.

  • For a closed densely defined linear operator T on a Hilbert space H, let ${\prod}$ denote the function which corresponds to T, the orthogonal projection from $H{\oplus}H$ onto the graph of T. We extend some ordinary norm ineqralites comparing ${\parallel}{\Pi}(A)-{\Pi}(B){\parallel}$ and ${\parallel}A-B{\parallel}$ to the Schatten p-norm where A and B are bounded operators on H.

  • Let $\{{\beta}(n)\}^{\infty}_{n=0}$ be a sequence of positive numbers such that ${\beta}(0)=1$. We consider the space $H^2({\beta})$ of all power series $f(z)=^{Po}_{n=0}{\hat{f}}(n)z^n$ such that $^{Po}_{n=0}{\mid}{\hat{f}}(n){\mid}^2{\beta}(n)^2<{\infty}$. We link the ideas of subspaces of $H^2({\beta})$ and zero sets. We give some sufficient conditions for a vector in $H^2({\beta})$ to be cyclic for the multiplication operator $M_z$. Also we characterize the commutant of some multiplication operators acting on $H^2({\beta})$.

  • The study of self-adjoint operator algebras on Hilbert space is well established, with a long history including some of the strongest mathematicians of the twentieth century. By contrast, non-self-adjoint CSL-algebras, particularly reflexive algebras, are only begins to be studied by W. B. Wrveson [1] 1974.
