Demand is increasing for large, high-rise, and complex buildings, which is leading to advances in the development of high-performance structural systems. In this context, precast concrete (PC) technology has received a large amount of attention owing to its benefits in terms of schedule reduction, high quality, and easy installation. In addition, advanced methodologies that improve the PC performance by the addition of various materials have recently been reported. Research on analyzing the effects of such high-performance PC on the construction process and productivity is very limited. This makes it difficult for decision-makers to apply PC to particular projects. Thus, the aim of this research was to analyze the work productivity of the high-performance PC slab installation process by using a construction simulation tool to resolve critical issues. In this study, a real construction project that adopted PC slab installation work was analyzed, and a sensitivity analysis was performed to confirm the reliability of the analysis results.

As residents and building owners demand maintenance that is required to achieve sustainable building performance, efficient building management methods are required. Even though the demand for maintenance systems is increasing, current maintenance work for high-rise buildings mostly uses conventional ropes and gondolas that pose a high risk of accidents and exhibit poor performance and efficiency. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop an automation robot system that can reduce accidents and improve the maintenance efficiency of the conventional high-rise building façade maintenance system. As a preceding work for the development of an automation robot system, this study classified and analyzed the work processes of actual construction sites and proposed basic techniques for the work mechanisms of the robot system by investigating the motions of cleaning workers.

Coarse-grained reconfigurable architecture (CGRA) based embedded systems aims to achieve high system performance with sufficient flexibility to map a variety of applications. However, the CGRA has been considered as prohibitive one due to its significant area/power overhead and performance bottleneck. In this work, I propose reconfigurable multi-array architecture to reduce power/area and enhance performance in configurable embedded systems. The CGRA-based embedded systems that consist of hierarchical configurable computing arrays with varying size and communication speed were examined for multimedia and other applications. Experimental results show that the proposed approach reduces on-chip area by 22%, execution time by up to 72% and reduces power consumption by up to 55% when compared with the conventional CGRA-based architectures.

The aim of this study is to investigate the role of employee engagement as a mediator between the High-Performance Work System and the Service-Oriented Organizational Citizenship Behavior (Service-Oriented OCB). Furthermore, work-life balance as a moderator, the impact Service-Oriented OCB on customer satisfaction will be investigated. This study employs a quantitative methodology for which questionnaires were distributed to sixty restaurants in Karachi, and a sample of 418 responses was collected for structural equation modeling analysis. Smart PLS software was used to analyze the structure model. The results show that HPWS has a positive impact on Service-Oriented OCB. It is assumed that the role of work engagement as a mediator between HPWS and Service-Oriented OCB is significant. This study found that Service-Oriented OCB has a positive impact on customer satisfaction. Work-life balance was also found to have a moderating influence. The findings confirmed the black box mechanism and the HPWS procedures in restaurants. This study suggests implementing effective HPWS practices to influence employees' work engagement, which leads to Service-Oriented OCB and employees being able to optimize their performance to influence customer satisfaction. The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge in human resource management.
Establishing and maintaining optimum lamp operating temperature is critically important in backlight systems for large area displays. The information presented in this paper is based upon work completed for a tiled 37.5" AM LCD, plus projections for a 37.5", 42" & 50" monolithic display. Due to the size of the units, a requirement for highly collimated light and a requirement for high brightness, >550 nits at the display surface, significant wattage is required which generates high heat levels in the backlight display assembly and potentially, at the display rear surface. Uniformity of illumination becomes an important element in the system design because of the large area involved.
In this work, we developed silver nanowires and a silicon based Schottky junction and demonstrated ultrafast broadband photosensing behavior. The current device had a response speed that was ultrafast, with a rising time of 36 ㎲ and a falling time of 382 ㎲, and it had a high level of repeatability across a broad spectrum of wavelengths (λ = 365 to 940 nm). Furthermore, it exhibited excellent responsivity of 60 mA/W and a significant detectivity of 3.5 × 1012 Jones at a λ = 940 nm with an intensity of 0.2 mW cm-2 under zero bias operating voltage, which reflects a boost of 50 %, by using the AC PV effect. This excellent broadband performance was caused by the photon-induced alternative photocurrent effect, which changed the way the optoelectronics work. This innovative approach will open a second door to the potential design of a broadband ultrafast device for use in cutting-edge optoelectronics.

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between complexity, tacit knowledge, know-how, perception, and perception on business performance, and to suggest management implications for corporate performance and organizational executives. Therefore, the implications of this study are as follows. First, corporate representatives and staff in charge of organization should be able to access various information and contents through various routes about the work of members of the organization, and should make efforts to freely communicate among members. Second, corporate representatives and organizational practitioners should consider using the traditional methods of communication within their work, but allowing more informed and inmates to do more off-the-job activities that can increase intimacy with each other. Third, corporate representatives and organizational practitioners should provide a situation in which they can acquire work knowledge in a variety of ways, but must devise communication methods to increase information sharing and information value among members. Fourth, corporate representatives and organizational practitioners should endeavor to provide employees with educational support, family invitation events, awards and bonuses, and compliments that will make them more interested in their work. Lastly, corporate representatives and organizational practitioners are encouraged to maintain effective communication, employee pride, etc., so that the concentration of work, achievement, quality and productivity of work, and high professionalism can be maintained. You will have to work hard.

The national standard being used in Turkey for suspended ceiling systems (SCS) regulates material and dimensional properties but does not contain regulations regarding installation instructions which cause substandard applications of SCSs in practice. The lack of installation instructions would potentially affect the dynamic performance of these systems. Also, the vast majority of these systems are manufactured using substandard low-quality materials, and this will inevitably increase SCS related damages during earthquakes. The experimental work presented here focuses on the issue of dynamic performance of SCSs with different types of carrier systems (lay-on and clip-in systems), different weight conditions, and material-workmanship qualities. Moreover, the effects of auxiliary fastening elements, so called seismic perimeter clips, in improving the dynamic performance of SCSs were experimentally investigated. Results show that clip-in ceiling system performs better than lay-on system regardless of material and workmanship qualities. On the other hand, the quality aspect becomes the most important parameter in affecting the dynamic performance of lay-on type systems as opposed to tile weights and usage of perimeter clips. When high quality system is used, tile weight does not change the performance of lay-on system, however in poor quality system, tile weight becomes an important factor where heavier tiles considerably decrease the performance level. Perimeter clips marginally increase the dynamic performance of lay-on ceiling system, but it has no effect on the clip-in ceiling system under the shaking levels considered.
With the explosive proliferation of smart devices that may be connected to the fast Internet, virtual desktop interfaces(VDI) are being implemented in enterprises allowing employees to work anywhere anytime in the same technological environment. As this kind of systems are intended to raise the work performance, a research model is constructed from the review of research literature on service quality and work design. The model consists of VDI system service quality (ubiquity, availability, compatibility, security and ease of use), system satisfaction, task performance and job satisfaction. As VDI is designed as a support system for cooperative work, the task interdependence adopted from the work design theory is postulated here as moderating the effect of user satisfaction on task performance and job satisfaction. 147 data points were collected by a survey of VDI users in a global firm and subjected to PLS analysis. Interestingly, ubiquity and compatibility seem to be not statistically significant for user satisfaction while availability, security and ease of use of VDI system are statistically significant. Task interdependence is found to be a relatively strong mediator between system user satisfaction and task performance, however, interestingly, the coefficient come out as negative. This may indicate that the influence of VDI user satisfaction on task performance would not be high in highly interdependent tasks. Considering that VDI is intended for supporting 'interdependence' in cooperative work, this finding is a bit surprising. In-depth discussions are made in the discussion followed by future research directions.

Recently, the defense industry has been improving high technology by developing convergence technology through the 4th industrial revolution. On the other hand, it is very difficult to guarantee the performance of high-tech weapon systems because the test for weapon systems has many risks and cannot perform in an actual operating environment. Therefore, M&S resources are needed to make sound weapon systems, but many people demand reliable M&S resources. Owing to the continuous demand and execution of the VV&A work, related rules have developed significantly, but tools and techniques for performing the work have not been developed. Hence, there are inefficient parts in the performance of work due to the absence of a systematic system. Accordingly, many risks may cause various safety accidents, such as security. This paper suggests a direction for the development of VV&A work procedures by improving efficiency and reducing risk.
