Using a simplified high-frequency small-signal equivalent circuit model for BSIM3 MOSFET, the fully differential two-stage folded-cascode CMOS operational amplifier is analyzed to obtain its small-signal voltage transfer function. As a result, the expressions for dc gain, five zero frequencies, five pole frequencies, unity-gain frequency, and phase margin are derived for op amp design using design equations. Then the analysis result is verified through the comparison with Spice simulations of both a high speed op amp and a low power op amp designed for the $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process.
This paper presents compact low frequency ultra-wide band (UWB) sensor design and study of the partial discharge diagnosis by sensing electromagnetic pulse emitted from the partial discharge source with the newly designed UWB sensor. In this study, we designed a new type of compact low frequency UWB sensor based on microstrip antenna technology to detect both the low frequency and high frequency band of the partial discharge signal. Experiments of offline PD testing on medium voltage (22.9kV) underground cable mention the comparative results with the traditional HFCT as a reference sensor in the laboratory. In the series of comparative tests, the calibration signal injection test provided with the conventional IEC 60270 method and high voltage injection testing are included.
This paper deals with the multiresolution analysis of wavelet transform for partial discharge(PD). Test arrangement is based on the needle-plane electrode system and applied AC high voltage. The measured PD signal was decomposed into "approximations" and "details". The approximation are the high scale, low-frequency components of the PD signal. The details are the low-scale, high frequency components. The decomposition process are iterated to 3 level, with successive approximation being decomposed in turn, so that PD signal is broken down into many lower-resolution components. Through the procedure of signal wavelet transform, signal noise extraction and signal reconstruction, the signal is analyzed to determine the magnitude of PD.
High frequency AC (HFAC) power distribution systems delivering power through a high frequency AC link with sinusoidal voltage have the advantages of simple structure and high efficiency. In a multiple module system, where multiple resonant inverters are paralleled to the high frequency AC bus through connection inductors, it is necessary for the output voltage phase angles of the inverters be controlled so that the circulating current among the inverters be minimized. However, the phase angle of the resonant inverters output voltage can not be controlled with conventional phase shift modulation or pulse width modulation. The phase angle is a function of both the phase of the gating signals and the impedance of the resonant tank. In this paper, we proposed a pulse phase modulation (PPM) concept for the resonant inverters, so that the phase angle of the output voltage can be regulated. The PPM can be used to minimize the circulating current between the resonant inverters. The mechanisms of the phase angle control and the PPM were explained. The small signal model of a PPM controlled half-bridge resonant inverter was analyzed. The concept was verified in a half bridge resonant inverter with a series-parallel resonant tank. An HFAC power distribution system with two resonant inverters connected in parallel to a 500kHz, 28V AC bus was presented to demonstrate the applicability of the concept in a high frequency power distribution system.
This paper proposes a field-oriented control strategy without speed sensor in overall speed range. At low speed region including zero speed, the electrical saliency which is due to the main flux saturation is used in order to estimate an instantaneous flux position. This electrical saliency can be obtained from the difference of high frequency impedance by the high frequency signal injection. This method enables the stable operation at zero speed or stator frequency even under heavily loaded condition. However, because of the high frequency signal injection the loss and noise in motor increase and the voltage margin is reduced as the motor speed increases. Therefore, this algorithm must be supplemented with the algorithm based on the electrical model of motor, which is conventionally used in the region except the low speed. This paper proposes the combination algorithm between the high frequency signal infection method and the adaptive observer, in which the rotor flux and motor speed can be simultaneously estimated by the adaptive control theory. This combination algorithm enables the stable operation of field-oriented speed control without speed sensor in overall speed range. This is verified by experimental results.
This paper presents a balanced soft-chopping circuit and a modified PI controller for a high speed 4/2 Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) with a 16 pulse per revolution encoder. The proposed balanced soft-chopping circuit can supply double the switching frequency in the fixed switching frequency of power devices to reduce current ripple. The modified PI controller uses maximum voltage, back-emf voltage and PI control modes to overcome the over-shoot current due to the time delay effect of current sensing. The maximum voltage mode can supply a fast excitation current with consideration of the hardware time delay. Then the back-emf voltage mode can suppress the current over-shoot with consideration of the feedback signal delay. Finally, the PI control mode can adjust the phase current to a desired value with a fast switching frequency due to the proposed balanced soft-chopping technology.
The gas metal arc welding(GMAW) is regarded as one of the best candidate for welding automation in industrial joining application. It is important to monitor the weld quality for the high performance of weld automation. The measured analog signal is frequency analyzed by digital signal process method. In order to observe the welding phenomena and control welding condition, arc light, voltage, and current are measured at the same time. They are analyzed and compared with arc sound. for these experiments, a power source of constant voltage characteristics was used in the pure metal transfer mode.
Novel bipolar transresistance amplifier(TRA) for high-accuracy current-mode signal processing is described. The TRA consists of two current follower for the current inputs, a current summer for curent-differential, and a voltage follower for the voltage output. The simulation results show that the impedence of the current input and the voltage output is 0.5 $\Omega$ and the 3-dB cutoff frequency when used as a current to voltage converter extends beyond 40 MHz.
This paper is to investigate how partial discharge pulse signal can flow in 6.6㎸ motor stator windings. Pulse propagation is experimentally analyzed in stator windings using a variety of frequency-domain techniques. The experiments were performed on two stator windings in the laboratory. Spectrum analyzer(9KHz to 3㎓) with tracking generator(100kHz to 3㎓) was used. Sweep time of the tracking generator was looms. The frequency spectrum of the response signal was detected by active FET probe(1㎓). The active FET probe has a flat amplitude response up to 1㎓ without high frequency attenuation. The stator winding acts as a low-pass filter below 600KHz, the high-frequency components being highly declined. The resonance peaks show about 1.1MHz and 2MHz in low frequency of No. 1 and No. 2 stator windings, respectively. This low-frequency range indicates that attenuation is low. The peaks of partial discharge magnitude show about 900MHz, 1.6MHz in No. 1 stator winding and about 800KHz, 1.4MHz in No. 2 stator winding.
In this paper, we report the process/device design of high-speed, high-voltage SOI smart power IC for mobile communication system, high-speed HDD system and the electronic control system of automobiles. The high voltage LDMOS with 70V breakdown voltage under 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ design rule, the high voltage bipolar with 40V breakdown voltage for analog signal processing, the high speed bipolar with cut-off frequency over 20㎓ and LDD NMOS for high density were proposed and simulated on a single chip by the simulator DIOS and DESSIS. And we extracted the process/device parameters of the simulated devices.
