High Efficient Control Design for Refrigeration System of a Ship

  • In this paper, we suggest the high efficient control method based on general PI control law to control the refrigeration system of the ship effectively. In the variable speed refrigeration system, the capacity and the superheat are controlled by inverters and electronic expansion valves respectively for saving energy and improving cost performance. Thus, we propose decoupling model to eliminate the interfering at first. Next, we design PI controller to control capacity and superheat independently. Finally the control performance was investigated through some experiments. The experiments results show that the PI control design can obtain good control performance deal with the varied control reference and thermal load.

Automated optimization for memory-efficient high-performance deep neural network accelerators

  • The increasing size and complexity of deep neural networks (DNNs) necessitate the development of efficient high-performance accelerators. An efficient memory structure and operating scheme provide an intuitive solution for high-performance accelerators along with dataflow control. Furthermore, the processing of various neural networks (NNs) requires a flexible memory architecture, programmable control scheme, and automated optimizations. We first propose an efficient architecture with flexibility while operating at a high frequency despite the large memory and PE-array sizes. We then improve the efficiency and usability of our architecture by automating the optimization algorithm. The experimental results show that the architecture increases the data reuse; a diagonal write path improves the performance by 1.44× on average across a wide range of NNs. The automated optimizations significantly enhance the performance from 3.8× to 14.79× and further provide usability. Therefore, automating the optimization as well as designing an efficient architecture is critical to realizing high-performance DNN accelerators.

  • High-level synthesis(HLS)는 주어진 동작(behavior)과 면적(area), 성능(performance), 전력 소비량, 패키징, 테스팅등의 주어진 제한을 만족하게 구현된 구조적 디자인을 생성한다. 즉 high-level synthesis란 디지털 시스템의 알고리즘 단계 서술로부터 레지스터 전달구조의 구현에 이르는 과정을 의미한다. 이러한 high-level synthesis의 과정은 컴파일, 분할(partitioning), 스케줄링(scheduling)등의 단계를 거쳐 디지털 시스템을 설계할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 high-level synthesis의 단계 중 스케줄링 과정에서 제한조건이 실리콘 면적으로 주어지는 경우에 최적의 functional unit의 수를 찾아내어 최소의 control step에 효과적으로 스케줄링 가능한 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

항공기 요동보상을 위한 SAR시스템의 타이밍 제어 기법 (A Novel Timing Control Method for Airborne SAR Motion Compensation)

  • For high quality image acquisition, compensating air-vehicle motion is essential for airborne SAR system. This paper describes a timing control based motion compensation method for airborne SAR system. Efficient timing control is critical for SAR system since it maintains many timing signals and timing setting for the signals should be updated frequently. This paper proposes Timing Cluster method as an efficient means for timing control of SAR system. Moreover, this paper suggests a simple and efficient method to compensate air-vehicle motion based on the Timing Cluster method. Timing Cluster method enables SAR system to control the timing in a timing noncritical way just maintaining little amount of information.

  • Electric locomotive is adapted to high speed driving and mass transportation due to obtaining high traction force. The electric locomotive is operated by motor blocks and traction motors. Train speed is controlled by suppling power from motor blocks to traction motors according to reference speed. Speed control of the electric locomotive is efficient by spending energy between motor blocks and traction motors. Currently, switched reluctance motors have been studied because the efficient is higher than induction motors. In this paper, model of the switched reluctance motor is presented and the PID controller is applied to the model for the speed control by using Simulink. Asymmetry converter is used for real-time control and system performance is demonstrated by simulating the speed of switched reluctance motor including PID controller.

  • In recent years, The electronic and energy industries demand low power consumption and high efficiency, so under their demands, the white goods industries which are represented for refrigerator and air conditioner system be implemented energy-saving power suppling structure with inverter control system. As inverter control system is different from step control type, when switching system is optimizing temperature control during short period, the inrush plus current can be flown in the circuit. In despite of these characteristics, there is no fuse which can be applied to this type until now. For this reason, we suggest the method of manufacturing protector in the high efficient inverter control system using the alumina-based ceramic radiated heat characteristics and metal films laminated plating. And through the evaluating electrical characteristics, we make a possible to utilize the method when designing overall fuses.

  • The efficient power MOSFET inverter applied for a simple and low cost power supply is proposed for driving the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) lamp load. For decades, the DBD phenomenon has been used for ozone gas production in industry. In this research, the ultraviolet and visible light sources utilizing the DBD lamp is considered as the load for solid-state high frequency power supply. It is found that the simple voltage-source single-ended quasi-resonant ZVS inverter with only one active power switch could effectively drive this load with the output power up to 700 W. The pulse density modulation based control scheme for the single-ended quasi-resonant ZVS inverter using a low voltage and high current power MOSFET switching device is proposed to provide a linear power regulation characteristic in the wide range 0-100% of the full power as compared with the conventional control based Royer type parallel resonant inverter type power supplies.

  • This paper is a report of designing for LED lights driver unit. The main purpose of driver designing is high electrical efficient performance and intelligent control LED driver. This LED driver can be used for intelligent light control. This product expects to improve the light control by dimming instead of interlace on/off light control that increases the social cost such as car accidents and etc.

  • ATM 트래픽 제어를 위해서 효과적인 호 수락 제어 방법이 필요하다. 이것은 호 수락 과정에서 서로 다른 종류의 서비스들에 대해서 높은 이용률과 공정성을 제공하여야 한다. 전체 대역공유 법은 대역폭 이용률 측면에서는 효율적이지만 호 수락의 공정성 측면에서는 비효율적이다. 전체 대역 분할 할당 법은 공정성 측면에서는 효율적이지만 대역폭 이용률 측면에서는 비효율적이다. 본 논문에서는 호 수락의 공정성과 대역폭 이용률을 높이기 위하여 링크에 문턱 값을 적용한 새로운 CST(Complete Sharing with Threshold) 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

Distributed ECU System Design for High Speed and High Precision Control of a Marine Engine

  • Efficient control of a marine engine requires an engine control unit (ECU) system that handles fast and precise signal processes for in-coming and out-going signals from fast running engines. In order to handle these roles, the sequential control has been adapted in the ECU system in small and medium size ship engines, which has caused high production cost and complexity of the system. Hence, this paper is focused on developing an distributed ECU system for high speed and high precision control of a marine engine by efficiently combining a CPLD chip and a microprocessor. By sharing load at the MCU with the designed CPLD chip, we could achieve in driving a marine engine with high speed and precise control so that the ECU board has been simplified and its production cost has been reduced.
