A survey on the actual state of heating, cooling, ventilation, and air-flow and experimental measurement of temperature and humidity distribution in tomato greenhouse were performed to provide fundamental data required in the development of air-flow control technology. In single-span plastic houses, which account for most of 136 tomato greenhouses surveyed, roof windows, ventilation and air-flow fans were installed in a low rate, and installation specs of those facilities showed a very large deviation. There were no farms installed greenhouse cooling facilities. In the hot air heating system, which account for most of heating type, installation specs of hot air duct showed also a large deviation. The exhaust air temperature and wind speed in hot air duct also were measured to have a big difference depending on the distance from the heater. We are using the maximum difference as indicator to determine whether temperature distribution is uniform. However if the temperature slope is not identical in greenhouse, it can't represent the uniformity. We analyzed relation between the maximum difference and the uniformity of temperature and humidity distribution. The uniformity was calculated using the mean and standard deviation of data from 12 measuring points. They showed high correlation but were represented differently by linear in the daytime and quadratic in the nighttime. It could see that the uniformity of temperature and humidity distribution was much different according to greenhouse type and heating method. The installation guidelines for ventilation and air-flow fan, the spread of greenhouse cooling technology for year-round stable production, and improvement of air duct and heating system, etc. are needed.

To resolve the problem of the temperature rise in LED or OLED lighting, until now a thick metal film has been used as a heat-sink. Conventionally, this thick metal film is made by the electroplating method and used as the heat-dissipating plate of the electronic devices. However, nowadays there is increasing need for a Cu metal film with a thickness of several hundred micrometers that can be formed by the dry deposition method. In this work, we designed and fabricated a Cu film deposition system where the heating element is separated from the ceramic crucible, which makes ultra-rapid deposition possible by preventing heat loss. In addition, the resulting induction heating also contributes to the high deposition rate. By tuning the various parameters, we obtained a $100-{\mu}m$ thick Cu film whose heat conductivity is high and whose thickness uniformity is better than 2%, while the deposition rate is as high as $1000{\AA}/s$.
Polyethylene pipes has useful benefits which are anti-corrosive and flexible material, so it is used to gas pipes but also class 3 water pipes of nuclear power plant, process pipes of petrochemical plant and chemical plant. So the usage of polyethylene pipes is widely increased. But it has been limited for the usage of polyethylene, because it can not be directly detected to fusion joints by using non destructive evaluation. Polyethylene pipes are connected by two methods, one is butt fusion and the other is electrofusion. Butt fusion is widely used to connecting the pipes. It is proposed to method for determining the reliability of joints in this study that is detection of the melt flow zone at fusion joints. In this study, middle density polyethylene is used, outside diameter of the test specimen is 225mm and thickness is 20.5mm. Speed of ultrasonic of this test specimen is 2,200m/s. Test specimens were fabricated by varying the heating time which means from 0% to 130% applying time through heating plate to polyethylene for detecting melt flow zone. Also 4 additional test specimens were made, one was made that not scrapping attached surface of pipes but applying 100% of the proper heating time and the others were made to include of soil, gravel and vinly tape paper at fusion joints, that were also applied 100% of proper heating time. Ultrasonic testing to measure the melt flow zone of 20 test specimens was conducted by using 3.5MHz and 5.0MHz ultrasonic probes and melt flow zone measuring was conducted to three times at different point to one specimen. To differentiate the melt flow zone signal, post image processing was equally conducted to all test results and image levels, contrast, sharpen, threshold were adopted to all teat results and the test results were displayed gray scale. From the results, for the shorter heating times the reflection area of multiple echo have been increased, so the data was obtained from the position where it can be eliminated as much as possible. At 80% of proper heating time(168 sec.), the signal of melt flow zone was obtained clearly, so measuring could be conducted. From 7% of proper heating time(15 sec.) to shorter heating times. we could not obtain the signal because test specimen was not fused. From the result, we can verify that measuring of melt flow zone by using phased array ultrasonic imaging method is possible. And we can verify to complete and incomplete butt fusion by measuring the melt flow zone.

A numerical study was conducted to investigate the combustion phenomena of normal start and unstart processes based on ISL's RAMAC 30 experiments with different diluent amounts and fill pressures in a ram accelerator. The initial projectile launching speed was 1.8 km/s which corresponded to the superdetonative speed of the stoichiometric $H_2/O_2$ mixture diluted with 5 $CO_2$ or 4 $CO_2$. Experiments with same condition except for projectile surface material demonstrated that ignition was successful with an aluminum projectile, but no combustion was observed in case of a steel projectile. In this study, it was found that neither shock nor viscous heating was sufficient to ignite the mixture at a low speed of 1.8 km/s, as was found in the experiments using a steel projectile. However, we could succeed in igniting the mixtures by imposing a minimal amount of additional heat to the combustor section and simulate the normal start and unstart processes found in the experiments with an aluminum projectile. For the numerical simulation of supersonic combustion, multi-species Navier-Stokes equations coupled with a Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model and detailed chemistry reaction equations of $H_2/O_2/CO_2$ suitable for high-pressure gaseous combustion were considered. The governing equations were discretized by a high order accurate upwind scheme and solved in a fully coupled manner with a fully implicit, time accurate integration method. The numerical results matched almost exactly to the experimental results. As a result, it was found that the normal start and unstart processes depended on the strength of gas mixture, development of shock-induced combustion wave stabilized by the first separation bubble, and its size and location.
This study was carried out to evaluate bending property on principal domestic species such as sargent cherry(Prunus sargentii), bitter wood(Picrasma quassioides), horn beam(Carpinus laxiflora), cork oak(Quercus variabilis), birch(Betula schmidtii), painted maple(Acer mono), basswood(Tilia amurensis), red pine(Pinus densiflora), pitch pine(Pinus rigtda), royal pawlonia(Paulownia tomentosa) by microwave heating. In this study, radius of curvature(ROC) for bending process was classified by radius of curvature(ROC) of bending plate such as 4 cm, 6 cm, and 10 cm, and thickness of metal-strap(TMS) was 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm. Bending process was successfully operated for 100 percent in bitter wood, horn beam, birch and painted maple. On the other hand, there was a success rate of 58 percent in sargent cherry and 83 percent in cork oak and 29 percent in basswood and 8 percent in royal pawlonia which is the worst bending property. All specimens of basswood and royal pawlonia were broken at 4 cm of ROC. Success rate of bending property was shown 44 percent in red pine and 56 percent in pitch pine. TMS has an effect on only drying speed in drying process than difficulty and facility of bending property. It was considered that the thinner TMS in drying process is the faster in drying speed of bent wood.

The objective of this work is to measure space and time resolved wall heat fluxes during nucleate pool boiling of R113/R11 mixtures using a microscale heater array in conjunction with a high speed CCD. The microscale heater array is constructed using VLSI techniques, and consists of 96 serpentine platinum resistance heaters on a transparent quartz substrate. Electronic feedback circuits are used to keep the temperature of each heater at a specified temperature and the variation in heating power required to keep the temperature constant is measured. Heat flux data around an isolated bubble are obtained with triggered CCD images. CCD images are obtained at a rate of 1000frames/second. The heat transfer variation vs. time on the heaters directly around the nucleation site is plotted and correlated with images of the bubble obtainedby using the high speed CCD. For both of the mixture(R11/R113) and pure system(pure R11, pure R113), the wall heat fluxes are presented and compared to find out the qualitative difference between pure and binary mixture nucleate boiling.
The sliding contact interface of machine components such as bearings, gears frequently operates in lubrication at the inception of sliding failure under high loads, speed and slip. The surface temperature at the interface of bodies in a sliding contact is one of the most important factors influencing the behavior of machine components. Most surface failure in sliding contact region result from frictional heat generation. However, it is difficult to measure temperature rise experimentally. So the calculation of the surface temperature at a sliding contact interface has long been an interesting and important subject for tribologist. The surface temperature rise is related in contact pressure, sliding speed, material properties and lubrication thickness. Though roughness, load, ect all of the condition, are same, film thickness varies with velocity. In this study, surface temperature rise due to frictional heating in lubrication is calculated with various velocities. Surface film shearing and dry solid asperity contact are used to simulate the change of frictional heat in lubricated contact
The HVAC(Heating Ventilation and Air conditioning) system is controlled by two ways, one is ON/OFF control and the other is PWM inverter with V/F. Control of blower with the use of PWM inverter has quite some benefits such as the capability of changing speed, high efficiency and reduced noise level compared with ON/OFF control. But if blower is operated at low speed, high THD generated by decrease of ma, and output voltage lowered in proportion to frequency. To solve these problems, filter should be installed at the output stage of inverter, which can decrease THD but has problems such as increase of volume size and additional braking resistance. This paper proposes the PWAM method which can reduce THD instead of installing the filter at the output stage of inverter. The proposed PWAM method is an inverter modulation method that fixes the modulation index of inverter to reduce THD by varying DC link voltage of inverter unlike conventional PWM method. Finally, the validity of proposed PWAM methods verified by experiments.

The Nd:YAG laser process is known to have high speed and deep penetration capability to become one of the most advanced welding technologies. This paper describes the machining characteristics of SM45C carbon steel welding by use of an Nd:YAG laser. In spite of its good mechanical characteristics, SM45C carbon steel has a high carbon contents and suffers a limitation in the industrial application due to the poor welding properties. The major process parameters studied in the present laser welding experiment were position of focus, travel speed and laser power. Optical microscope and SEM were used to investigate the microstructures of the welded zone. The experimental results showed that penetration depth of the welding process increases with laser power. Both the microstructural investigation and the theoretical calculations indicated that materials undergoes a very high heating and cooling cycle during welding process. It was also found that the austenite nucleation takes place at the initial stage and the completion temperature of austenite transformation is much higher than in the case of the arc welding.
In this study, the effects of atmospheric stability and surface temperature on the microscale local airflow are investigated in a hydrological suburban area using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. The model domain includes the river and industrial complex for analyzing the effect of water system and topography on local airflow. The surface boundary condition is constructed using a geographic information system (GIS) data in order to more accurately build topography and buildings. In the control experiment, it is shown that the topography and buildings mainly determine the microscale airflow (wind speed and wind direction). The sensitivity experiments of atmospheric stability (neutral, stable, and unstable conditions) represent the slight changes in wind speed with the increase in vertical temperature gradient. The differential heating of ground and water surfaces influences on the local meteorological factors such as air temperature, heat flow, and airflow. These results consequentially suggest that the meteorological impact assessment is accompanied by the changes of background land and atmospheric conditions. It is also demonstrated that the numerical experiments with very high spatial resolution can be useful for understanding microscale local meteorology.
