A novel digital current control strategy for digitally controlled DC-DC switching converters, referred to as Adjacent Cycle Sampling (ACS), is proposed in this paper. For the ACS current control strategy, the available time interval from sampling the current to updating the duty ratio, is approximately one switching cycle. In addition, it is independent of the duty ratio. As a result, the contradiction between the processing speed of the hardware and the transient response speed can be effectively relaxed by using the ACS current control strategy. For digitally controlled buck DC-DC switching converters with trailing-edge modulation, digital current control algorithms with the ACS control strategy are derived for three different control objectives. These objectives are the valley, average, and peak inductor currents. In addition, the sub-harmonic oscillations of the above current control algorithms are analyzed and eliminated by using the digital slope compensation (DSC) method. Experimental results based on a FPGA are given, which verify the theoretical analysis results very well. It can be concluded that the ACS control has a faster transient response speed than the time delay control, and that its requirements for hardware processing speed can be reduced when compared with the deadbeat control. Therefore, it promises to be one of the key technologies for high-frequency DC-DC switching converters.

A fast-transient repetitive control strategy for a three-phase shunt active power filter is presented in this study to improve dynamic performance without sacrificing steady-state accuracy. The proposed approach requires one-sixth of the fundamental period required by conventional repetitive control methods as the repetitive control time delay in the synchronous reference frames. Therefore, the proposed method allows the system to achieve a fast dynamic response, and the program occupies minimal storage space. A proportional-integral regulator is also added to the current control loop to eliminate arbitrary-order harmonics and ensure system stability under severe harmonic distortion conditions. The design process of the corrector in the fast-transient repetitive controller is also presented in detail. The LCL filter resonance problem is avoided by the appropriately designed corrector, which increases the margin of system stability and maintains the original compensation current tracking accuracy. Finally, experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed strategy.
This paper proposes a new approach of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) controlled digital implementation of shunt active power filter (SAPF) under steady state and dynamic operations. Typical implementations of SAPF uses microprocessor and digital signal processor (DSP) but it limited for complex algorithm structure, absence of feedback loop delays and their cost can be exceed the benefit they bring. In this paper, the hardware resources of an FPGA are configured and implemented in order to overcome conventional microcontroller or digital signal processor implementations. This proposed FPGA digital implementation scheme has very less execution time and boosts the overall performance of the system. The FPGA controller integrates the entire control algorithm of an SAPF, including synchronous reference frame transformation, phase locked loop, low pass filter and inverter current controller etc. All these required algorithms are implemented with a single all-on chip FPGA module which provides freedom to reconfigure for any other applications. The entire algorithm is coded, processed and simulated using Xilinx 12.1 ISE suite to estimate the advantages of the proposed system. The coded algorithm is also defused on a single all-on-chip Xilinx Spartan 3A DSP-XC3SD1800 laboratory prototype and experimental results thus obtained match with simulated counterparts under the dynamic state and steady state operating conditions.
This paper presents a new software-based on-line dead-time compensation technique for single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) inverter system. To improve the mitigation of dead-time effect around the zero-crossing point of phase current, a selective harmonic elimination of instantaneous feedback current is used as an additional part of conventional current control scheme. Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the effectiveness of proposed compensation method in the grid-connected power distributed generation systems.
To insure stable operation and eliminate twice torque ripple, a topology for a six phase permanent magnet synchronous generator (SP-PMSG) with a neutral point connected together was analyzed in this paper. By adopting an extended transformation matrix, the mathematic model of the space vector control was established. The voltage and torque equations were deduced while considering the third harmonic flux and inductance. In addition, the suppression third harmonic method and the closed loop control strategy were proposed. A comparison analysis indicates that the cooper loss minimum method and the current magnitude minimum method can meet different application requirements. The voltage compensation amount for each of the methods was deduced which also takes into account the third harmonic effect. A simulation and experimental result comparison validates the consistency through theoretical derivation. It can be seen that all of the two control strategies can meet the requirements of post-fault.
The switching frequency of a power device is a very important parameter in the design of a parallel active power filter (PAPF), but so far, very little discussion has been conducted on it in a quantitative manner in previous publications. In this paper, an extensive analysis on the effects of the switching frequency on the performance of a PAPF is made, and a specification of the switching frequency values with different compensation results is presented. A first-order inertia element and a second-order oscillation element are considered as approximate models of a PAPF, respectively. The compensation characteristic for each order of harmonic current is obtained at different switching frequencies. Then, the THDs of each model for the system loads of a rectifier with resistance and inductance loads are proposed. The compensation results of a PAPF controlled as a first-order inertia element are better than those of a PAPF controlled as a second-order oscillation element. With two types of system loads which are rectifier with resistance and inductance loads and rectifier with resistance, inductance and capacitance loads, the THDs of the source current after compensation are presented with different switching frequencies. The compensation characteristics for the most widely used digital control system are investigated. The situation with an analog control is the theoretical characteristic and it is the best situation. The compensation characteristic of the digital control is worse than the compensation characteristic of the theoretical characteristic. Based on these analyses, the specifications of compensation characteristics with different switching frequencies are quite straightforward. Finally, a practical design example is studied to verify the application.
In this study, control schemes are proposed for a propulsion system of TTX(Tilting Train eXpress). In developed traction converter, unity power factor control, compensation method of dc link voltage have been applied. Output current of converter contains harmonic ripple at twice input ac line frequency, which causes a ripple in the dc link voltage so that beatless control is developed in inverter system to reduce the pulsating torque current. This system is verified by the system modelling and prototype test.

An active power filter is used to eliminate harmonic currents. This paper applied the extension pq theory to harmonic currents compensation. An active power filter based on extension pq theory is more effective than pq theory in 3-phase unsymmetrical voltage system. When extension pq theory is used, the result of simulation present source current is not distorted. Pulse-width modulation method is CRPWM(Current-Regulated PWM).
This paper presents control strategies for cascaded H-bridge multilevel active power filters (APFs). A current loop controller is implemented using a proportional-resonant (PR) regulator, which achieves zero steady-state error at target frequencies. The power balancing mechanism for the dc-link capacitor voltages is analyzed and a voltage balancing controller is presented. To mitigate the picket-fence effect of the conventional FFT algorithm under asynchronous sampling conditions, the Hanning Windowed-FFT algorithm is proposed for reference current generation (RCG). This calculates the frequency, amplitude and phase of individual harmonic components accurately and as a result, selective harmonic compensation (SHC) is achieved. Simulation and experimental results are presented, which verify the validity and effectiveness of the devised control algorithms.
This paper presents an effective robust predictive control scheme for the active power filter (APF) using a smith-predictor based current regulator, which show superior features when compared to proportional-integral (PI) controllers in terms of an enhanced closed-loop bandwidth and an improved current tracking accuracy. A moving average filter (MAF) is implemented using a field programmable gate array (FPGA) for signal pre-processing to eliminate the switching ripple contamination. An adaptive linear neural network (ADALINE) is used for individual harmonic estimation to achieve selective compensation purpose. The effectiveness and validity of the devised control algorithm are confirmed by extensive simulation and experimental results.
