Investigating Exoplanet Orbital Evolution Around Binary Star Systems with Mass Loss

  • A planet revolving around binary star system is a familiar system. Studies of these systems are important because they provide precise knowledge of planet formation and orbit evolution. In this study, a method to determine the evolution of an exoplanet revolving around a binary star system using different rates of stellar mass loss will be introduced. Using a hierarchical triple body system, in which the outer body can be moved with the center of mass of the inner binary star as a two-body problem, the long period evolution of the exoplanet orbit is determined depending on a Hamiltonian formulation. The model is simulated by numerical integrations of the Hamiltonian equations for the system over a long time. As a conclusion, the behavior of the planet orbital elements is quite affected by the rate of the mass loss from the accompanying binary star.

  • 일반적으로 비선형 시스템은 1차와 2차 시스템의 곱의 형태로 선형화되며, 시스템의 근은 1차 시스템의 근과 2차 시스템의 중근, 서로 다른 두 실근, 복소근으로 구성된다. 그리고 LQ(Linear Quadratic) 제어는 성능지수함수를 최소화하는 제어법칙을 설계하는 방법으로 시스템의 안정성을 보장하는 장점과 가중행렬 조정으로 시스템의 근의 위치를 조정하는 극배치 기능이 있다. 가중행렬에 의해 LQ 제어는 시스템의 근의 위치를 임의로 이동시킬 수 있지만 시행착오 방법으로 가중행렬을 설정하는 어려움이 있다. 이것은 해밀토니안(Hamiltonian) 시스템의 특성방정식을 이용하여 해결 할 수 있다. 또한 제어가중행렬이 상수의 대칭행렬이면 제어법칙을 반복적으로 적용하여 시스템의 여러 근을 원하는 폐루프 근으로 이동시킬 수 있다. 이 논문은 해밀토니안 시스템의 특성방정식을 이용하여 조단 블록을 갖는 시스템의 중근을 두 실근으로 이동시키는 상태가중행렬과 제어법칙을 계산하는 방법을 제시한다. 삼각함수로 표현된 상태가중행렬로 해밀토니안 시스템의 특성방정식을 구한다. 그리고 이동된 두 실근이 특성방정식의 근이라는 조건에서 중근과 상태가중행렬의 관계식(${\rho},\;{\theta}$)을 유도한다. 상태가중행렬이 양의 반한정행렬이 될 조건에서 중근의 이동범위를 구한다. 그리하여 이동범위에서 선택한 두 실근을 관계식에 대입하여 상태가중행렬과 제어법칙을 계산한다. 제안한 방법을 간단한 3차 시스템의 예제에 적용해본다.

A study on the Nonlinear Normal Mode Vibration Using Adelphic Integral

  • Nonlinear normal mode (NNM) vibration, in a nonlinear dual mass Hamiltonian system, which has 6$\^$th/ order homogeneous polynomial as a nonlinear term, is studied in this paper. The existence, bifurcation, and the orbital stability of periodic motions are to be studied in the phase space. In order to find the analytic expression of the invariant curves in the Poincare Map, which is a mapping of a phase trajectory onto 2 dimensional surface in 4 dimensional phase space, Whittaker's Adelphic Integral, instead of the direct integration of the equations of motion or the Birkhoff-Gustavson (B-G) canonical transformation, is derived for small value of energy. It is revealed that the integral of motion by Adelphic Integral is essentially consistent with the one obtained from the B-G transformation method. The resulting expression of the invariant curves can be used for analyzing the behavior of NNM vibration in the Poincare Map.

  • The traveling salesman problem is a representative NP-Complete problem. It needs lots of time to get a solution as the number of city increase. So, we need an efficient heuristic algorithm that gets good solution in a short time. Almost edges that participate in optimal path have somewhat low value cost. This paper discusses the property of nearest neighbor and 3-opt. This paper uses nearest neighbor's property to select candidate edge. Candidate edge is a set of edge that has high probability to improve cycle path. We insert edge that is one of candidate edge into intial cycle path. As two cities are connected. It does not satisfy hamiltonian cycle's rule that every city must be visited and departed only one time. This paper uses 3-opt's method to sustain hamiltonian cycle while inserting edge into cycle path. This paper presents a highly efficient heuristic algorithm verified by numerous experiments.

Nonlinear vibration of unsymmetrical laminated composite beam on elastic foundation

  • In this paper, nonlinear vibrations of the unsymmetrical laminated composite beam (LCB) on a nonlinear elastic foundation are studied. The governing equation of the problem is derived by using Galerkin method. Two different end conditions are considered: the simple-simple and the clamped-clamped one. The Hamiltonian Approach (HA) method is adopted and applied for solving of the equation of motion. The advantage of the suggested method is that it does not need any linearization of the problem and the obtained approximate solution has a high accuracy. The method is used for frequency calculation. The frequency of the nonlinear system is compared with the frequency of the linear system. The influence of the parameters of the foundation nonlinearity on the frequency of vibration is considered. The differential equation of vibration is solved also numerically. The analytical and numerical results are compared and is concluded that the difference is negligible. In the paper the new method for error estimation of the analytical solution in comparison to the exact one is developed. The method is based on comparison of the calculation energy and the exact energy of the system. For certain numerical data the accuracy of the approximate frequency of vibration is determined by applying of the suggested method of error estimation. Finally, it has been indicated that the proposed Hamiltonian Approach gives enough accurate result.

  • The time optimal position control scheme based on the Pontryagin's minimum principle is proposed in the current source inverter(CSI) fed induction motor system. The field oriented induction motor system is modelled with a second order plant and a switching curve is obtained by solving Hamiltonian equation. The validity of time optimal control solution has been verified by experimental tests carried out with a prototype MC68000 based microcomputer system, and 5Hp induction motor. Experimental results are in a close agreement with those the digital simulation ones.

Multidimensional Frictional Coupling Effect in the Photoisomerization of trans-Stilbene

  • A model based on two coupled generalized Langevin equations is proposed to investigate the trans-stilbene photoisomerization dynamics. In this model, a system which has two independent coordinates is considered and these two system coordinates are coupled to the same harmonic bath. The direct coupling between the system coordinates is assumed negligible and these two coordinates influence each other through the frictional coupling mediated by solvent molecules. From the Hamiltonian which is equivalent to the coupled generalized Langevin equations, we obtain the transition state theory rate constants of the stilbene photoisomerization. The rates obtained from this model are compared to experimental results in n-alkane solvents.

Optimal Control of Dualistic Economic Growth

  • The paper illustrates a possible application of control theory to an economic growth system. Simultaneous nonlinear system of differential equations has been modeled which is different from the traditional formulation, based on the theory of economic growth for a two-sector (dual) economy. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the optimal control are derived directly from the Hamiltonian, and the optimal controls are also obtained by solving simultaneous equations. Obtaining the trajectories of the optimal control and state variables, however, should rely on the numerical procedures. Empirical application has been conducted for the case of the Korean economy as an illustration.

삼치어종의 동태적 최적어업관리 (The Dynamic Optimal Fisheries Management for Spanish Mackerel)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 다수어업에 의해 어획되는 삼치어종에 대해 잉여생산모형을 이용하여 최대지속적어획량(YMSY) 및 최대지속적어획노력량(FMSY)을 추정한 후 현재 가치 해밀토니안 기법을 적용하여 삼치어종을 어획하는 다수어업의 이윤 극대화를 위한 최적어업관리 수준과 민감도 분석을 통한 삼치어종의 제도적 접근 방안을 제공함에 있다. 분석 내용으로, 우선, 다수어업의 어획노력량을 Gavaris의 일반선형모형을 적용하여 하나의 단위로 표준화한 후, 다양한 잉여생산모형 중 CYP 모형을 채택하여 정태적 자원평가를 시도하였다. 다음으로, 생물·기술적 계수와 경제적 매개변수를 가지고 현재가치 해밀토니안 기법을 이용하여 어업 이윤을 극대화하는 동태적 최적 수준을 추정하였다. 분석 결과, 우선, MSY 수준과 이윤이 극대화되는 수준에서 우리나라 삼치자원은 남획되고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 다음으로, 경제적 주요 변수인 생산가격과 단위당 어업비용 변화에 따른 민감도 분석을 시도해본 결과, 생산가격 및 어업비용이 변화할 때 삼치어종의 자원량이 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 실제 삼치어종에 대한 어획노력량이 과도하게 투입되고 있어, 동 자원의 남획으로 인해 삼치어종을 어획하는 쌍끌이대형저인망어업, 대형선망어업, 대형트롤어업의 경영에도 비효율성을 야기하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 결론적으로, 본 연구에서는 우리나라 연근해 수산자원의 회복과 TAC 총량규제의 정부 정책의 확대에 맞추어 삼치어종도 TAC 대상 품종에 포함하여 체계적으로 자원을 관리해 나가길 제안하였다.
