Effects of Sexuality Education Coaching Program on Sex-related Knowledge and Attitude among Elementary School Students (초등학생의 성교육 코칭프로그램 개발 및 성지식과 성태도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a sexuality education coaching program given to elementary school students in terms of sex-related knowledge and attitude. Methods: The participants were elementary school students in S city (Experimental group=21, Control group=23). Data were collected and the program was conducted from Feb. 15 to Apr. 15, 2013. The experimental group of 21 elementary school students in the fifth and sixth grades who received the sexuality education coaching program, 10 sessions in the three weeks. The control group of 23 elementary school students in the fifth and sixth grades from another school received, 2 sessions in the three weeks on sexuality education including physiology and sexual abuse prevention. Data were analyzed using ${\chi}^2$-test, independent t-test, repeated measures ANOVA, and utilized the SPSS program. Results: The experimental group showed significantly better sex-related knowledge and sex-related attitudes than the control group. Conclusion: Therefore, individualized approach with emphasis on the differences of their level of understanding and strengths should be considered in providing sexuality education coaching programs for elementary school students.

  • Until now, face to face coaching has been applied almost for completing the goal in various field. Face to face coaching is difficult always to reach each other anywhere, anytime due to the availability of internet and mobile devices. Recently, e-coaching is attempted to expend. But current e-coaching is supporting the secondary role for face to face coaching. E-coaching system has many benefits to use advancement technologies in internet. Therefore, the development of e-coaching system based on horizontal relationships between coach and coachee needs to communication anytime and anywhere in Internet. Usually previous online coaching systems have four types of interactions i.e. electronic mail, video chat, text chat, phone call. Most of the e-coaching approaches are easy to access and provide communication synchronous; video chat is an excellent visibility, whereas e-mail is asynchronous and document-centric. In this paper, we design and implement the integration e-coaching system based on synchronous and asynchronous. This system provides the asynchronous coaching offered by way of e-mail, and the synchronous coaching used P2P (Peer to Peer) video chat and text group chat. This system allows simultaneously asynchronous and synchronous coaching, and supports individual and group communication for periodical or informal coaching.

The Effects of Emotional Coaching Parents Education Program on Emotional Reaction Attitude, Parenting Efficacy and Emotional Coaching Style of Mother with Young Children (감정코칭 부모교육 프로그램이 유아기 어머니의 정서반응태도, 양육 효능감 및 감정코칭 양육태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to identify the effects of emotional coaching parents education program on emotional reaction attitude, parenting efficacy and emotional coaching style of mother with young children. A total 60 mother with young children at K city were participated. The collected data were analyzed using t-test. Main results of this study were the experimental group showed significantly better score in the parenting efficacy than the control group after taking program And, the experimental group showed significantly better score in the emotional coaching style than the control group affer taking program. this results suggest that there is a significance in presenting scientific evidence of emotional coaching parents education program.

A Field Experimental Study on the Effects of Coaching on Emotional Intelligence and Communication Competence (융합형 코칭이 감성지능과 커뮤니케이션 역량에 미치는 효과에 대한 현장실험연구)

  • The purpose of this field experimental study investigated the positive effects of coaching on emotional intelligence and communication competence. The experimental group(39 university students) had to two months of coaching education and four face-to-face coaching sessions. The control group(39 university students) did not have any coaching education and coaching sessions. To conduct ANCOVA, pre-measurement scores for each dependent variables, emotional intelligence and communication competence, were included as covariates and post-measurement scores were included as dependent variables. In control group, there was no difference between before and after measurement for each dependent variables. However, there was statistically significant difference between before and after measurement for each dependent variables in experimental group. This result confirmed that coaching caused increase in the level of emotional intelligence and communication ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of group counseling program through emotion coaching on the subjective well-being and interpersonal relationship of university students. The study subjects were 24 students at J university, and 12 students were assigned to experimental group and control group respectively. The emotion coaching group counseling program was conducted for two hours, once a week, ten times in all. The subjective well-being and interpersonal relationship test was conducted before and after the test, and the degree of effectiveness was examined through covariance analysis. As a result of the study, the group counseling program of emotional coaching showed meaningful results in subjective well-being and sub-factors such as life satisfaction and positive emotion. In addition, significant differences were found in communication, openness, and sensitivity among sub-factors of interpersonal relationship. The results of this study were as followed. First, the emotional coaching group counseling program improves subjective well-being by improving life satisfaction and positive emotion, and it was proved that it improves the communication in interpersonal relationship, and helps others to understand and openly communicate.

The Effects of Group Coaching Program on Improving Metacognition Learning Ability for Adult Learners (성인학습자 대상 메타인지 학습능력 증진 그룹코칭 프로그램의 효과성 검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of a group coaching program to promote metacognitive learning ability in an academic context for adult learners enrolled at a distance university. The topics and objectives of the group coaching program focused on understanding and applying the elements of 'metacognitive knowledge', and each session was conducted online by integrating 'planing-monitoring-regulating', an element of 'metacognitive regulation', into the REGROW model of coaching. To verify the effectiveness of the program, research participants were recruited from adult university students enrolled in A Cyber University and assigned to the experimental and control groups. The experimental group was given the program, while the control group was given the program after the completion of the study. Metacognitive learning ability level and academic self-efficacy were tested before and after the program for both groups, and a satisfaction survey was conducted for the experimental group. Analyses of the data revealed that the experimental group showed higher scores on both the overall and sub-scales of perceived metacognitive learning ability and academic self-efficacy compared to the control group. Participants in the experimental group also reported high satisfaction with the program, increased knowledge of metacognition, awareness and application of metacognitive strategies, and found the group coaching approach beneficial. Based on these findings, implications, and suggestions for future research are presented.

A Field Experiments Study for Coaching Effects Verification: Relation between Coaching and Self-esteem, Career Decision Making Self-efficacy, and Career Preparation Behavior (코칭 효과 검증을 위한 현장실험연구: 코칭과 자아존중감, 진로결정자기효능감 및 진로준비행동 간의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between coaching and self-esteem, career decision-making self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior through field experiments. To accomplish the purpose of the study, as the purposeful sampling was selected 50 male university students in Chungnam, South Korea. This experimental design, 25 university students were assigned to an experimental group, and another 25 university students were assigned to a control group. The experimental group had four sessions of coaching program. The control group did not have any coaching sessions. After four coaching sessions, questionnaires were administrated again. To conduct ANCOVA, pre-measurement scores for each dependent variable were included as covariates and post-measurement scores were included as dependent variables. The result proved the effect of coaching on self-esteem, career decision-making self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior. As the results of analysis, for control group, there was no difference between before and after measurement for each dependent variable. However, there was statistically significant difference between before and after measurement for each dependent variable in experimental group. This result confirmed that coaching caused increase in the level of self-esteem, career decision-making self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior. The result like this has a significance to be able to be used as a basic data that used efficiently in the field of career guidance and HRD for university student.

Effects of a Coaching-based Childbirth Program on Anxiety and Childbirth Self-efficacy among Primigravida Women (코칭 출산교육 프로그램이 초임부의 불안과 출산 자기효능감에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: Childbirth self-efficacy plays an important role in women's ability to cope with labor and delivery. Coaching has been gaining popularity as a way to promote cognitive, emotional and behavioral change. This study aimed to test the effects of a Coaching-based childbirth program on anxiety and childbirth self-efficacy among primigravida women. Methods: The study design was a quasi-experimental pre-post design. A coaching-based childbirth program was developed synthesizing concepts and techniques from the literature on coaching and was verified by an expert panel. It consisted of four weekly 2-hour small group sessions. Pregnant women were recruited from H hospital in Seoul. Childbirth self-efficacy and state anxiety were measured before and after the program. Results: Although there was a no significant reduction in anxiety, there were statistically significant increase for childbirth self-efficacy in the experimental group when compared to the control group. Conclusion: The program appears to increase childbirth self-efficacy for pregnant women. Future studies may benefit from using mixed coaching modalities and consider measuring health behaviors and obstetric outcomes to gain insights on its long-term impact.

The Effectiveness of a mHealth Program Using Wearable Devices and Health Coaching among Bus Drivers for Promoting Physical Activity

  • Purpose: Bus drivers are at high risk of chronic diseases due to risk factors associated with poor diet, physical inactivity, high levels of sedentary behaviors, and unfavorable working environments. This study developed a mHealth program for bus drivers, and examined the effectiveness of a mHealth program for promoting physical activity among bus drivers using wearable devices and health coaching. Methods: Forty-seven workers from two bus companies were allocated to the experimental group and the control group. Participants were asked to wear a wearable device (Fitbit Charge HR) during waking hours for a day. Participants in the experimental group were provided with a Fitbit, weekly face-to-face health coaching, a mHealth workbook, and text and photo messaging for 12 weeks. The control group only received a Fitbit. Results: By week 12, there were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in exercise self-efficacy (p<.015) and daily walking steps (p<.001). Conclusion: The findings have demonstrated that the mHealth program using wearable devices and health coaching is effective for bus drivers for promoting physical activity. Based on our findings, it is recommended to encourage the mHealth program using wearable devices and health coaching for bus drivers' wellness.

The Effect of Situational Leadership Program on Critical Thinking, Coaching and Empowerment of Nurse Leader (상황리더십 프로그램이 간호리더의 비판적 사고, 코칭 및 임파워먼트에 미치는 효과)

  • This study, as a experiment study, was intended to determine whether or not the situational leadership program was highly helpful to critical thinking, coaching, empowerment-enhancing of nurse managers. The number of subjects was abstracted by G*Power, and 54 nurses leader and 342 general nurses were selected from university hospitals of metropolitan city. Data analysis was frequency analysis, t-test, $X^2$-test, repeated measures ANOVA, using SPSS Win 18.0 statistical package program. The results of this study was as follows. 1. Due to the situation leadership programs, critical thinking of experiment group has significantly increased, but control group was significantly reduced. 2. Due to the situation leadership programs, coaching of experiment group has significantly increased, but control group was significantly reduced. 3. Due to the situation leadership programs, empowerment of experiment group has significantly increased, but control group was significantly reduced. Therefore, the situation leadership programs can be effective in critical thinking, coaching, empowerment of nurse leaders. And applying the situation leadership program to the nurse in future, it would be helpful promoting empowerment, coaching, critical thinking in organization life and cope with situation that occurred during clinical.
