  • In order to consider the sediment layer's effect to total acoustic field, we composed a 3 layered fluid model of 2 sediment layers by adding an additional layer to the Pekeris model and found solutions by using Green's function, boundary conditions and Sommerfeld radiation condition. The modes were divided into discrete modes and virtual modes, and confirmed that the characteristic equation to find discrete modes was same as that of Tolstoy and Clay for normal modes. Also, we confirmed that under similar conditions the 3 layered model showed same results as that of Pekeris model. We believe this 3 layered model can be used to study the sediment's effect on the virtual mode of near field.

  • This study is about the design for environment which is central social interest in recent days. This study focused on both experimental designs which convey meanings and practical designs which can be produced within the fashion industry and then influence on the wide range of consumer, human and surrounding environment. The purposes of this study are to categorize national and global fashion designs for environment, to analyze data based on the fashion pipeline from planning to discard, to suggest systematic actions, and to establish fashion design for environment model. Through these processes, this study helps in making fashion designs for environment more understandable, and demonstrates one future direction for using environment as fashion industry's innovative strategy. This study attempts to create business and at the same time suggests design actions based on social belief. The results of this study are following. Fashion designs for environment were categorized by organic fabric, new-to-the-world fabric, reduce, multi-function, reproduce, order-made, recycle, and reuse. The results show that fashion designs for environment have been implemented throughout the fashion pipeline, and applied the concepts of design for environment including green, sustainable slow, and natural design principles. Furthermore, labelling and service from supply side, green purchasing from demand side, and integration from both sides are suggested as company's and society's systematic actions.

  • In order to obtain the wave-making resistance of a ship, so-called the Neumann-Kelvin problem is solved numerically. For computing the Havelock source, which is the Green's function of the problem, we adopted the methods given by Newman(1987) for the term representing the local disturbance, and Baar and Price(1988) for the wave disturbance, respectively. In the numerical code we developed, the source strength is assumed as bilinear on each panel and continuous throughout the hull surface. The wave-making resistance is calculated using the algorithm of de Sendagorta and erases(1988), which makes use of the wave amplitude far downstream. The Wigley hull was chosen for the sample calculation, and our results showed a good agreement with other existing experimental and numerical results.

  • The success of a target of 'low-carbon green growth' depends on whether installing energy-saving capital would result in an increase in industry's productivity growth. Defining total factor productivity from a dual cost function, this paper estimates the contribution of energy efficiency investment to productivity growth by analyzing the sources of growth of productivity index for the primary metal industries. Empirical results show that, on average, energy efficiency investment increased the annual rate of productivity growth by 1.16 percentage points over th period 1982~2006. In addition, The scale effect positively affected the contribution of energy efficiency investment on productivity growth.

  • To estimate the accumulated infiltration, Horton's and Green-Ampt's equations are usually applied. Because the real infiltration is penetrated into the soil continuously, to cover the problems of the conventional equations derived from the discontinuous infiltration system, new infiltration equation is derived from the concepts of continuous infiltration system. Furthermore, infiltration tests were done to compare the results from the conventional Horton's and Green-Ampt's equations and newly derived equation. Unsaturated permeability is the function of water content ratio or saturation degree, which affects directly to the infiltration capacity and accumulated infiltration. Therefore, the variation term of unsaturated permeability is inserted into the new equation to estimate the proper infiltration capacity and accumulated infiltration. It will make the more accurate analysis for the safety of structure and the behavior of groundwater.

  • The method of quasilinearization generates a monotone iteration scheme whose iterates converge quadratically to a unique solution of the problem at hand. In this paper, we apply the method to two families of three-point boundary value problems for second order ordinary differential equations: Linear boundary conditions and nonlinear boundary conditions are addressed independently. For linear boundary conditions, an appropriate Green\`s function is constructed. Fer nonlinear boundary conditions, we show that these nonlinearities can be addressed similarly to the nonlinearities in the differential equation.

  • Radiation from a cavity-backed circular aperture surrounded by concentric corrugations is studied. An electromagnetic boundary-value problem of the cavity-backed circular aperture surrounded by concentric corrugations is solved by using the Green's function, Hankel transform, and mode matching method. The radiated fields are computed in terms of corrugation geometry to illustrate radiation behaviors and measured to validate our computation. The effects of the corrugation geometries on the radiation are discussed.

  • This paper presents calculated results for the infinite phased arrays of the probe-fed rectagualr microstrip patches. A numerical model that is based on a rigorous Green's function and galerkin solutionsis is described. In an arbitrary scan plane, the input impedance and the input reflection coefficient versus the scand angle are calculated. The effects of substrate parameters on the phased arry antenna are considered. The scan blindness phenomenon due to the surface wave is observed and the input impedance bandwidth in the arbitrary scan plane is calculated.

  • In this paper, we describe the crossover of the parasitic capacitance at the interconnections for the system miniature, analyse ground capacitance and mutual capacitance due to actually coupled line in the ICs or MCMs. From the results of deviding interconnection line with infinite parts, using Green's function with image charge method and moments, we could obtain 70% decrease of system runtime parasitic inductance because of simplicity of transforming formular.
