  • In this paper we propose a control law using a Lyapunov-like function that makes stable the systems which have mis-matched uncertainties. The existing control law using a Lyapunov-like function, which gives global saymptotic stability, is designed under the assumption of a targetsystem to be stable locally. But we broaden here the class of target systems by designing the control law which can give uniform ultimate boundedness to even the systems not satisfing the locally asymptotic stability. And we also show that the control law giving global asymptotic stability can be designed more systematically through using the uniform ultimate boundedness.

  • MPC or model predictive control is representative of control methods which are able to handle physical constraints. Closed-loop stability can therefore be ensured only locally in the presence of constraints of this type. However, if the system is neutrally stable, and if the constraints are imposed only on the input, global aymptotic stability can be obtained; until recently, use of infinite horizons was thought to be inevitable in this case. A globally stabilizing finite-horizon MPC has lately been suggested for neutrally stable continuous-time systems using a non-quadratic terminal cost which consists of cubic as well as quadratic functions of the state. The idea originates from the so-called small gain control, where the global stability is proven using a non-quadratic Lyapunov function. The newly developed finite-horizon MPC employs the same form of Lyapunov function as the terminal cost, thereby leading to global asymptotic stability. A discrete-time version of this finite-horizon MPC is presented here. The proposed MPC algorithm is also coded using an SQP (Sequential Quadratic Programming) algorithm, and simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the method.

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate the global stability, periodic nature, oscillation and the boundedness of solutions of the difference equation $x_{n+1}\;=\;\frac{A+Bx_{n-1}}{C+Dx_n^2}$, n = 0, 1, 2, ... where A, B are nonnegative real numbers and C, D > 0.

  • In the present study we consider a mathematical model of a non-interactive type autotroph-herbivore system in which the amount of autotroph biomass consumed by the herbivore is assumed to follow a Holling type II functional response. We have also incorpo-rated discrete time delays in the numerical response term to represent a delay due to gestation and in the recycling term which represent a delay due to gestation and in the recycling term which represents the time required for bacterial decomposition. We have derived con-dition for global asymptotic stability of the model in the absence of delays. Conditions for delay-induced asymptotic stability of the steady state are also derived. The length of the delay preserving stability has been estimated and interpreted ecologically.

  • This paper deals with the problem of the global stabilization for a class of ocean structure systems. It is well known that, in general, the global asymptotic stability of the ocean structure subsystems does not imply the global asymptotic stability of the composite closed-loop system. The classical fuzzy inference methods cannot work to their full potential in such circumstances because given knowledge does not cover the entire problem domain. However, requirements of fuzzy systems may change over time and therefore, the use of a static rule base may affect the effectiveness of fuzzy rule interpolation due to the absence of the most concurrent (dynamic) rules. Designing a dynamic rule base yet needs additional information. In this paper, we demonstrate this proposed methodology is a flexible and general approach, with no theoretical restriction over the employment of any particular interpolation in performing interpolation nor in the computational mechanisms to implement fitness evaluation and rule promotion.

  • In this paper, we provide 3 detailed and explicit procedure of obtaining some regions of attraction for the positive steady state (assumed to exist) of a well known Lotka-Volterra type predator-prey system. Also we obtain the sufficient conditions to ensure that the positive equilibrium point of a well known Lotka-Volterra type predator-prey system with a single discrete delay is globally asymptotically stable.

  • In this paper, we investigate the viscoelastic plate equation with a constant delay term and logarithmic nonlinearities. Under some conditions, we will prove the global existence. Furthermore, we use weighted spaces to establish a general decay rate of solution.

  • Considered here is the first initial boundary value problem for the two-dimensional g-Navier-Stokes equations in bounded domains. We first study the long-time behavior of strong solutions to the problem in term of the existence of a global attractor and global stability of a unique stationary solution. Then we study the long-time finite dimensional approximation of the strong solutions.
