Experiment and Electro-Thermo-Chemical Modeling on Rapid Resistive Discharge of Large-Capacity Lithium Ion Battery

  • Heat generation and temperature of a battery is usually presented by an equation of current. This means that we need to adopt time domain calculation to obtain thermal characteristics of the battery. To avoid the complicated calculations using time domain, 'state of charge (SOC)' can be used as an independent variable. A SOC based calculation method is elucidated through the comparison between the calculated results and experimental results together. Experiments are carried for rapid resistive discharge of a large-capacitive lithium secondary battery to evaluate variations of cell potential, current and temperature. Calculations are performed based on open-circuit cell potential (SOC,T), internal resistance (SOC,T) and entropy (SOC) with specific heat capacity.

T-TIME: A Password Scheme Based on Touch Signal Generation Time Difference

  • As evidenced through rapidly growing digital devices and information, digital authentication is becoming ever more critical, especially considering the complex and prevalent digital accounts we are using every day. Also, digital authentication is apt to consistent digital security application. In this sense, digital security quality and usability can be enhanced by developing a mechanism for efficient digital authentication. In this paper, a mechanism of efficient digital authentication called T-TIME is introduced in order to alleviate issues dealing with secure and user friendly authentication across ever- growing digital devices and information. Touch Signal generation time difference is utilized for T-TIME as a mediation mechanism that enhances the security quality by confusing others unlike other graphical password mechanisms which are using spatial information. Hence, digital authentication by using T-TIME can be a good way of enhancing security quality and usability.

SoC Virtual Platform with Secure Key Generation Module for Embedded Secure Devices

  • In the Internet-of-Things (IoT) or blockchain-based network systems, secure keys may be stored in individual devices; thus, individual devices should protect data by performing secure operations on the data transmitted and received over networks. Typically, secure functions, such as a physical unclonable function (PUF) and fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), are useful for generating safe keys and distributing data in a network. However, to provide these functions in embedded devices for IoT or blockchain systems, proper inspection is required for designing and implementing embedded system-on-chip (SoC) modules through overhead and performance analysis. In this paper, a virtual platform (SoC VP) was developed that includes a secure key generation module with a PUF and FHE. The SoC VP platform was implemented using SystemC, which enables the execution and verification of various aspects of the secure key generation module at the electronic system level and analyzes the system-level execution time, memory footprint, and performance, such as randomness and uniqueness. We experimentally verified the secure key generation module, and estimated the execution of the PUF key and FHE encryption based on the unit time of each module.

포그 컴퓨팅 플랫폼 적용성 연구 (A Study to Apply A Fog Computing Platform)

  • 스마트팜이나 스마트시티와 같은 IoT 시스템이 보편화되면, 많은 센서 노드들로부터 수집된 대량의 데이터가 인터넷 내 서버로 전송되기 때문에 네트워크 트래픽 폭증, 전달 지연, 서버 부하증가 문제가 발생한다. 이러한 문제를 완화하기 위해 IoT 시스템과 서버와 사이에 데이터를 저장하는 포그 컴퓨팅 개념이 제안된 바 있다. 본 연구에서는 포그 노드의 소프트웨어 플랫폼을 구현하여 스마트팜(smart farm) 시험 구현물에 적용해 봄으로써, 포그 노드를 사용하는 경우 위에서 나열된 문제를 해결할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 포그 노드 플랫폼을 이용했을 때 IoT 장치를 제어하는데 걸리는 시간이 기존 IoT-서버 방식보다 더 낮아지는 것을 확인하였으며, 인터넷 내부 트래픽 폭증, 부하 증가 문제를 해결할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 포그 노드의 기본 기능인 IoT 데이터 저장뿐만 아니라, 실시간 원격제어, 긴급 알림, 데이터 시각화의 기능을 본 논문의 포그 노드에 구현해 봄으로써 보다 지능적인 IoT 제어가 가능함을 보였다.

펄스 전류 하에서 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 플라즈마전해산화 피막의 형성 거동 (PEO Film Formation Behavior of AZ31 Mg Alloy under Pulse Current)

  • In this study, PEO (plasma electrolytic oxidation) film formation behavior of AZ31 Mg alloy under application of 300 Hz pulse current was studied by the analyses of V-t curve, arc generation behavior, PEO film thickness and morphology of PEO films with treatment time in 0.05 M NaOH + 0.05 M Na2SiO3 + 0.1 M NaF solution. PEO films was observed to grow after 10 s of application of pulse current together with generation of micro-arcs. PEO film grew linearly with treatment time at a growth rate of about 5.58 ㎛/min at 200 mA/cm2 of pulse current but increasing rate of film formation voltage became lowered largely with increasing treatment time after passing about 250 V, suggesting that resistivity of PEO films during micro-arc generation decreases with increasing film formation voltage at more than 250 V.

IoT 기반 모바일 스마트 태양광 발전 모니터링 시스템 (IoT based Mobile Smart Monitoring System for Solar Power Generation)

  • 본 논문에서는 IoT 기반의 모바일 태양광 발전 모니터링 시스템을 안전진단 관점에서 제안하고 구현한다. 본 논문의 특징 및 기여도는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제안하는 시스템 모델은 일정 시간마다 스스로 태양광 발전 시스템 및 구조물 상태를 안전진단 관점에서 측정할 수 있다. 둘째, 제안된 시스템은 태양광 발전 구조물 상태를 자동적으로 측정한 데이터를 재가공하여 데이터-베이스에 저장한다. 셋째, 제안하는 시스템은 재 가공되어 저장된 정보를 활용하여, 관리자와 태양광 발전구조물 소유자에게 모니터링 정보를 웹페이지 형태로 제공하여, 직접 태양광 구조물에 가지 않고도 구조물의 상태를 안전진단 관점에서 측정할 수 있다. 넷째, 모니터링 정보를 위해서 제공되는 웹페이지는 장치에 상관없이 접속이 가능하다. 제안된 시스템의 성능평가 결과, 태양광 발전 구조물에 설치된 센서로부터 수신된 데이터를 일정시간마다 수집서버 내 데이터베이스에 효과적으로 저장한다. 그리고 저장된 데이터를 사용자와 관리자가 상시적으로 장소에 구애받지 않고 구축된 웹페이지에 모바일 폰과 데스크탑 컴퓨터에서 접속하여 구조물 상태에 대한 정보를 효과적인 그래프 형태로 제공할 수 있다.

감자바이러스 Y 복제 유전자로 형질전환된 버어리종 연초의 PVY에 대한 저항성 특성 (Resistance to Potato Virus Y Conferred by PVY Replicase Gene Sequence in Transgenic Burley Tobacco)

  • The complementary DNA (cDNA) of potato virus Y- vein necrosis strain (PVY-VN) replicase gene (Nlb) was transformed into tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum cv. Burley 21) plants. Out of 25 putative transformants regenerated, 3 were resistant to PVY-VN, one highly resistant plant with no symptom until seed harvest time and the other two with mild chlorotic spot symptoms at late stages after infection. No symptom was observed in the highly resistant plant, while mild vein necrotic symptoms were developed on suckers of the moderately resistant plants after seed harvest time, In the first generation (T1) via self fertilization, resistance to susceptibility frequency in transgenic plants from the highly resistant transformant was about 3 : 1, while it was lowered much (about 1:2 and 1:19) in T1 of the moderately resistant transformants. In the second generation (T2) of the highly resistant plant, resistance frequencies were similar to T1, but resistance levels varied greatly and appeared to be decreased. Terahertz Time Domain Spectroscopy, T-Ray Imaging and Wireless Data Transfer Technologies

  • This study reviewed terahertz technologies of time domain spectroscopy, T-ray imaging, and high rate wireless data transfer. The main topics of the terahertz research area were investigation of materials and package modules for terahertz wave generation and detection, and setup of the terahertz system for time domain spectroscopy(TDS), T-ray imaging and sub-THz wireless communication. In addition to Poly-GaAs film as a photoconductive switching antenna material, a table-top scale for the THz-TDS/imaging system and terahertz continuous wave(CW) generation systems for sub-THz data transfer and narrow band T-ray imaging were designed. Dielectric properties of ferroelectric BSTO($Ba_xSr_{1-x}TiO_3$) films and chalcogenide glass systems were characterized with the THz-TDS system at the THz frequency range. Package modules for terahertz wave transmitter/receiver(Tx/Rx) photoconductive antenna were developed.

HIP 처리에 의한 가스터빈 블레이드용 IN738LC 초합금의 내부결함 소멸 효과 (Effect of Hot Isostatic Pressing on Elimination of Internal Defects in IN738LC Superalloy for Gas Turbine Blade)

  • Most investment castings contain some porosities and microcavities. In this study, we investigated the elimination trends of various internal defects in IN738LC investment castings for industrial gas turbine blade by hot isostatic pressing. The results showed that cylindrical defects which are under $0.6mm{\Phi}{\times}7mm$ size are mostly eliminated and aspect ratio of defects is more sensitive factor than their cross section shape in removing these defects. Increasing hot isostatic pressure and holding time doesn't affect the elimination trend of cylindrical defects over $0.6mm{\Phi}{\times}7mm$ size because first step(plastic deformation) of HIP densification doesn't occur under these HIPping conditions.

차세대 통신 시스템을 위한 향상된 하이브리드 MIMO 기법 (Improved Hybrid MIMO Scheme for Next Generation Communication System)

  • 본 논문에서는 선형분산행렬(linear dispersion)을 이용한 하이브리드 MIMO(multi-input multi-output) 시스템을 적용하여 차세대 지상파 DTV 시스템을 구현하기 위한 새로운 전송 기법을 제안한다. 유럽형 방송 시스템인 DVB-T2에서는 수신 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 STBC(space time block code) 기법을 선택적으로 적용하였다. 그러나 STBC 기법은 송신 안테나에 비례하여 전송량이 증가하지 않는 단점이 있다. 이러한 STBC의 단점을 극복하기 위하여 전송단에 여러 개의 서로 다른 STBC 전송 행렬을 배치하는 하이브리드 STBC 기법이 사용된다. STBC 기법보다 향상된 수신 성능을 가지는 선형분산행렬을 하이브리드 형태로 구성하여 전송량 및 수신 성능을 향상시켰다. 제안한 하이브리드 MIMO 기법과 기존의 하이브리드 STBC 기법의 성능을 컴퓨터 실험을 통하여 비교분석하였다.
