Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a discharge education program on maternal role confidence and parenting stress of mothers who delivered premature infants. The program provided them with information on childrearing and supportive educational nursing care. Method: This study was based on pretest-posttest nonequivalent nonsynchronized quasi-experimental design. The participants in this study were 30 mothers who delivered premature infants at a general hospital in G city. The instruments used in this study were Maternity Confidence Inventory, Parenting Stress Index(PSI). Results: The first hypothesis that the mothers in the experimental group would undergo changes in maternal role confidence after the intervention was accepted, as there was a statistically significant gap between the two groups(F=9.386, P=.000). The second hypothesis that mothers in the experimental group would undergo change in parenting stress after the intervention was accepted, as there was a statistically significant gap between the two groups(F=4.425, P=.380). Conclusion: The findings suggest that the Discharge Education Program was an efficient intervention method to boost the maternal confidence of mothers with premature infants and to decrease their parenting stress.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the effects of a learning cycle model-based early childhood education program using physical motion on young children's scientific inquiry ability, scientific attitude, object manipulation ability and spatial ability. Methods: The subjects of this study were 60 five-year-old children who were attending K-G City Childcare Center. The SPSS Window 21.0 program and content analysis method were used, and post-validation Tukey was conducted to examine the differences between the one-way ANOVA and the group. Results: Activities using body movement were practiced systematically based on the circle learning. Children could revise their pre-concept and concept of error by interacting with other children, teachers and the environment. Furthermore, children were attaining new knowledge while they were doing body movement activities, assessing and applying them to actual activities. Conclusion/Implications: This study is investigated a cyclic learning-based early childhood science education program using physical motion, which has significance in systematic and practical early childhood centered education for young children.
This study seeks to determine children's poem composition through an activity-based nature experiencing program and how it affects their language expression and peer interaction. This research also seeks to provide preliminary data for producing more effective lecturing and learning plans. The forty participants in the study included twenty 5-year-old children from E kindergarten and 20 5-year-old children from G kindergarten in N city. The results of the study demonstrated that children in the experimental group who experienced the poem composing activity with the nature experiencing program demonstrated a positive effect in terms of the quality of language expression as well as peer interaction. These results indicate that children's poem composing activity done with nature experiencing program could be used as a new lecture and learning method for the development of language expression and peer interaction in early childhood education.
This study was conducted to determine how the isolation method of the porcine preantral follicles influenced the following follicular growth in vitro. Mechanical and enzymatical isolations were used for retrieving the follicles from prepubertal porcine ovaries, and in vitro-growth of the follicles and the expression of folliculogenesis-related genes were subsequently monitored. The enzymatic retrieval with collagenase treatment returned more follicles than the mechanical retrieval, while the percentage of morphologically normal follicles was higher with mechanical retrieval than with enzymatic retrieval. After 4 days of culture, mechanically retrieved, preantral follicles yielded more follicles with normal morphology than enzymatically retrieved follicles, which resulted in improved follicular growth. The mRNA expression of FSHR, LHR Cx43, DNMT1 and FGFR2 genes was significantly higher after culture of the follicles retrieved mechanically. These results suggest that mechanical isolation is a better method of isolating porcine preantral follicles that will develop into competent oocytes in in vitro culture.
Purpose: The research was to investigate the effect of stepbox exercise program on both male and female elderly' physiological index such as cardiovascular and to improve exercise efficacy. Methods: The research design was a non-equivalent control group, quasiexperimental study. From 2011-05-10 to 2011-07-26, 3 times a week for 12 weeks, the 43 elderly of health center of D district in G city who participated in the program and pre and post test at the same time were investigated. Results: Statistical significant differences had not been detected in systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure, pulse showed a statistical significant differences. After test of physiological index, weights of participants showed decreasing tendency. body fat mass, skeletal muscle mass, BMI, body fat rate and waist-hip-ratio had also showed statistically significant differences. Conclusion: In conclusion, stepbox exercise program has positive effects on physiological index, blood pressure and pulse. Therefore, dynamic stepbox exercise program is considered to be a helpful intervention to improve comprehensive health conditions by giving the elderly both easy and less-pain exercise and the opportunity to manage their own health.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine a Korean Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (K-MBSR) program for middle aged women and to verify the program's effectiveness on stress, stress coping style, depression, anger and sleep. Methods: Fifty-two women aged from 40 to 59 (26 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group) from G city participated in the study. Data were collected from February 13 to April 3, 2013. The experimental group received 8 sessions, scheduled once a week, with each session lasting two and a half hours. Outcome variables included stress, stress coping style, depression, anger, sleep and a physiological measure (EEG). Results: There were significant decreases for stress (t=-2.14, p=.037), depression (t=-2.64, p=.011), state trait anger (t=-3.79, p<.001) in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: The findings in this study indicate that the K-MBSR program is an effective program to decrease stress, depression, and state trait anger in middle aged women.
Purpose: This study was done to examine the intervention effects on the family of a family education program for pathological gamblers based on Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT). Methods: A quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants were 44 families of pathological gamblers from G center in Gyung-gi Province and 5 Gam-Anon groups in Seoul City and Gyung-gi Province. The experimental group (n=22) attended the 6 weekly 2 hour-long CRAFT family education program. The control group (n=22) attended the 12-step program of Gam-Anon. Data were collected from November, 2011 to May, 2012. Results: Compared with the control group, the experimental group showed significant decrease in depression (p=.001) and state anger (p=.039). There were no significant differences between groups in the level of interpersonal communication, trait anger, the mode of anger expression and self-esteem. Conclusion: Findings from this study suggest that the CRAFT family education program is effective in decreasing depression and state anger in families of pathological gamblers.
The second telemetry is designed for supplying additional function which the first telemetry system doesn't have and as a part system of the External Management System (EMS). It makes a patient and an animal move more freely with wireless communication at a distance of free activity from the PC and can get most data from the first telemetry to send to the PC. Recently, our laboratory is developing a RF system for the second telemetry.
For the aritificial heart valve, two types of valves-polymer and mechanical valve- are generally used. The polymer valve is used as a new low-cost artificial valve. Among the several properties of the artificial valve, the low-regurgitation property is important because it can provide better cardiac output characteristic. So in this study we analyzed and compared the regurgitation property of the mechanical valve which is generally used nowdays and the polymer valve which was made in our group. As results, the polymer valve showed the better regurgitation property compared to the mechanical valve approximately by 3 times, and increased the cardiac output by 10%.
